tongue expansion

personally i avoid all mammals, including dogs, monkeys, & folks,
because i find the meat unhealthy, often fatty or hard to digest
(witness the training of babies' stomachs before they can eat
meats), & i find that most mammal-rearing techniques (aside from
the pleasant conditions given to cows & pigs raised at home) to
be disrespectful of the animal's consciousness.

nevertheless, there is an excellent cookbook, in respect to tom karzes
article, which you may be interested in. it is TO SERVE MAN: A COOK-
BOOK FOR PEOPLE, by karl wurf, published by the owlswick press. it
contains some marvellous recipes from imitation ersatz mock turtle soup
to menschliche sauerbraten.

as for reptiles, it is not productive to eat them, as they reproduce
so slowly that eating just one python puts a strain on the species.
the same for smaller critters like iguanas & even frogs -- unless
they are raised for the purpose, reptiles are not ecologically
sound eating.

insects, though, are fine by me. outside of hunter-gatherer economies
in tropical areas, i think it would be hard to produce them in sufficient
quantities to be important in the food supply. but that doesn't
stop me from savoring whatever flies into my mouth.

i'd like to share a somewhat more farfetched recipe with you all, however.
i call it
       ENDLESS HOT & SOUR SOUP

to a stock of vegetables add a few cups of fresh, loose, somewhat
acidic shit, a block or two of tofu (chopped into cubes), & the
head of one tile-fish. spice with turmeric, chile oil, lamphong
pepper, & lemon peel. allow to simmer for about 1 1/2 hours,
during which time you should prepare & drink 3 cups of tea.
when the soup is done, urinate into the pot & serve immediately.

the name "endless" derives from the fact that after having some of this
soup, diarrhea is likely to ensue, producing materials for another batch.
