Glow Around Space Shuttle
Inspecting films of STS-3, scientists discovered an ``eerie glow''
around the leading edge of the space shuttle Columbia on its third
test flight.  They speculate that it is caused from molecules of
atomic oxygen, present at the altitude of the shuttle's flight
path, that were ionized as they hit the hull.
