Re: space@mit-mc
Here are some more points on this subject that I had no time
to submit this morning as I had to shove off for (ugh) school:
There is a difference in topics in the space digest and net.columbia.
While the space digest mainly has discussions about space topics
and applications and future possibilities (e.g. now I see a lot
on SPS, Skyhooks, Laser launching systems, etc.), net.columbia seems
to be mainly centered on current events (e.g. now there is a lot on
the preparations for STS-3 -- this is after a short lull after STS-2,
and things should pick up a bit)  Both things are suited to their topics
-- i.e. a digest is great for the discussion but relatively bad for
current news, while direct distribution (net.columbia) is better for
new than it is for discussion.  While I wouldn't mind seeing discussion
on net.columbia, I don't want to compete with space at mc as they seem
to be doing a pretty good job at it!
