shuttle work
Officials at NASA say that tile replacement work is now
``well ahead of schedule.''  As of this morning, 215 tiles
were reinstalled, leaving 154 tiles to be put in on harder
to reach sections of the ship.  Also, work on the Forward
Reaction Control System is proceeding.  A new launch date
is expected to be announced late this week.

Meanwhile, the external fuel tank for the third mission,
originally scheduled for January, 1982, was being taken
off a barge at Cape Canaveral.  Unlike the previous two,
this one will be unpainted, thus lightening it in excess
of 600 pounds.
