fuel spill
The delays of the second flight of the shuttle may also affect
future flights.  But officials hope that some time will be made
up before the third flight, scheduled (before the accident) for
January, 1981.

At present count, 388 tiles have been removed.  They will be
washed, baked, water-proofed, and then reapplied to the ship.
Regluing is expected to start next week.  There was no estimate
of how long it would take.  Meanwhile, engineers are trying to
determine whether or not some of the small thrusters in the
steering mechanism have to be replaced.

Engineers found iron nitrate buildups around the metal head of
section of the valve connecting to the servicing panel of the
shuttle.  They think it formed after the fuel had left its
storage tank but weren't sure why.  Filters will be installed
and the shut off valves will be cleaned.
