SETI
(From CBS Evening News)....  NASA's "Search for Extra-Terrestrial
Intelligence" program has finally been zorched by Sen. Proxmire.  He
thought he killed it 3 years ago, but they transferred the funds from
elsewhere.  Even though it doesn't cost much -- only $10 million -- Proxmire
would rather people searched for intelligence in Washington first.
[I'm sure we can all suggest some places not to look, Senator....]  He
also said that there's no evidence of extra-terrestrial life, to which
one NASA official replied that "500 years ago there was no evidence for
the existence of America".
