Pan-Am Intercollegiate
OK, so its not about computer chess, but since a lot of sites are college
related. . .
The University of Toronto A team won it second straight Pan-American Inter-
collegiate Team Championship with a 7-1 score.  The Pan-Am was held in NYC
Dec 26-30.  Co-US Intercollegiate Champs with a 6.5 score were Berkeley and
Cal State Fullerton.  Toronto has now tied U of Chicago for most Pan-Ams won
with 5 each.  71 teams from 19 states, Canada, and the Dominican Republic
competed with a total of 331 players.  USCF President Tim Redman played
third board for Chicago A.  Joel Benjamin of Yale won the blitz championship.

Finally, yours truly was re-elected President of the Intercollegiate Chess
League of America.  Anyone who wants info about the ICLA, Pan-Am or college
chess in general, feel free to contact me via mail.

p.s. the 1982 Pan-Am has been tentatively awarded to Ohio State in Columbus
contingent on finalization of financial guarentees.
