I heard a rumor (in this forum, perhaps) of a soon to be released
68000-based computer by Radio Shack.  Anyone have any information
about this?

[This computer was discussed briefly in WorkS Digest V1 #36 and #37. -JSOL]

Subject: Intel Opsys

In November 1981 MINI-MICRO systems pp199-200 is a description of
a few of the Operating System classes around.  In addition there
is mention of iRMX/MMX and iRMX86.  The big concept though, is the
possibilities of combining an Opsys with all the new technology.
Though the article is heavily skewed towards Intel, the idea is the
same:  What should the Opsys be at the Personal Computer level?

There is some mention of layered Opsys's with actually embedding
parts on the chips themselves.

If there are more references, please put them up in WorkS.

Am I correct in my assumption that most of the
auto[increment|decrement] modes of the MC 68000 would have to be
avoided to permit demand paging?  Is this not like purchasing a sports
car to drive to Church on Sundays?  I would find it hard to believe
that satisfactory performance could still be squeezed out of the chip
if it was limited in this way -- I'd certainly like more details on
just what must be avoided (and at what cost). -IAN!
