Re: Office of Tomorrow, on an airplane?
>From LLOYD@MIT-AI Sun Jul 19 10:42:45 1981
People are forbidden to use electronic devices on an airplane
because they MIGHT interfere with the navigational equipment.
Rather than make a value judgment on each item, they forbid
all items that don't fall into the categories tape recorder,
cardiac pacemaker, and electric shaver.

I am a commercial pilot and I have used many different pieces
of electronic equipment in an airplane (including a two meter
amateur radio transmitter) without effect on the radios.  When
people start using their personal computers on the plane, someone
will find out if they really cause a problem (with the new FCC
EMI (electro-magnetic interference) regulations I see no problem
with using microprocessor-based devices on a plane).
