Office of Tomorrow, where is it?
>From DREIFU@WHARTON-10 Mon Jul 13 06:11:28 1981
Workstations of Tomorrow, the office of tomorrow.    [Part-I]

A general feeling by most consultants, including myself, is that
the office of the future will be distributed geographically.  Not
only will the 'traveling' type person be a long-distance link, but
projects will be connected by different branches - communicating
electronically.

As this effects the workstation, indeed a traveling companion
will be developed. Something akin to the Xerox "NoteTaker".
Working from home will also be a common and practical extension.
Workstation hardware will have to provide the geographic service
at some point in the not too distant future.

Somewhat more extensive from Telex/TWX 'Datagram' service, an
electronic 'Terminal in the Hotel' will at some point be provided.
I don't see any major technological problems in that.  Most people
I have spoken to say they would pay $ 25.00 or even $ 50.00 more
a night to have a computer screen and a dial up modem at their
disposal.

Flying on an airplane?  Why not?  First Class, Business Class,
Electronics Class and Coach.  Electronics class, with SONY(tm)
TypeCorders, floppy disks, and even telephone capabilities for
burst communications to one's favorite computer.  It beats the
lousy movies they are showing these days.
