A Quibble or two
>From FJW@MIT-MC Tue Jul  7 08:56:00 1981
In spite of my (almost) lifelong infatuation with computers, I must
take issue with a trend of computerizing *everything* within reach
(pun intended) as evidenced in Randy's example.

In this (relatively) minor case, Randy shows our super office worker
taking a phone message and entering it into a computer - for someone
IN THE SAME OFFICE!!!  Somehow this is carrying things a bit too far.
Those ubiquitous pieces of yellow (or pink) pieces of paper are more
than just status symbols - they can be easily carried around for
future reference at a more convenient time (or tossed - as one person
I know of says that if it was important, they'll call back).

But when a more appropriate use of the computer was obvious in his
example, the advantage was not taken.  In this case, after looking up
the phone number in the electronic phone book, it would have been a
"simple" matter to have the machine dial that number for you...
