Addressing and File Accessing
I couldn't agree more with Bill Barns.  Simplifying storage organization
is an important aspect of the more general goal of simplifying the
user's perception of what is of necessity a very complex environment.
There is some support at Stanford for this goal; in particular we would
like to be able to offer users of SUN (Stanford University Network) a
simple coherent model of both SUN and (a rough approximation of) the
world outside SUN.  Some vague thoughts along those lines appear in
<CSD.PRATT>SUNUI on Score.  Brian Reid and I are mulling over such
ideas during this summer.
