whitesmith's compilers
>From mo@LBL-UNIX Wed Oct 28 11:23:59 1981
Hate to badmouth a friend and one of the original free spirits, but
Whitesmith's compilers are generally losers.  The don't implement C;
only something close.  They have strange restrictions like all
externals must be initialized!!  And if you worry about comptability,
or portability, their I/O library is indefensibly different from
STDIO.  (By indefensible, I mean they came very close, and then
arbitrarily decided to change routine names, or subtle semantics.)
Also, I haven't ever talked with any users who first didn't have to fix
lots of bugs before it started working.  I know several people who have
Whitesmiths compilers and they all disrecommend them. PJ, if you see
this, I'm sorry, but it's true....
