re diagram maker for troff:
Brian Kernighan's PIC program (which was the subject of one of the papers
in the recent ACM Text-Manipulation symposium proceedings) is said to have
been passed to the WeCo lawyers for a decision on licensing.  If you want
it badly, you might be able to contribute to a favorable decision by telling
them you want it.  Don't expect miracles of speed from them, though, and
take any time predictions they give with a large bag of salt.

Mini-review:  PIC looks very nice.  A high-level specification language
somewhat in the spirit of eqn.  Getting a complex picture just *so*
can get complicated, but this seems inherent:  pictures are complex things.
NB it needs a post-V7 version of troff.
