I prefer unix-wizards the way it is now. I am apprehensive of someone
"digesting" it for me because what they think is useful may not be
useful to me and what they think is useless may be useful to me.
Even though there was a lot of stuff generated about the set[gu]id
bits, in the end solutions to the problem were found. I wonder how a
moderator would have handled all of that stuff, censor the stuff that
showed how to break the security and pass through the stuff that
suggested fixes? The one about using "at" was pretty devious and I
doubt if I would have thought of it. If the example hadn't been given I
might not have fixed /bin/mail in that way and just fixed it so that it
always did a chmod to turn off any set[gu]id bits.
Unlike human-nets or sf-lovers, unix-wizards has stuff that is relevant
to my job and some of it can be and has been important. I don't feel
comfortable with someone deciding what I need to see and what I can't.
