Well,
Mike Obrien's message compels me to comment that there is some effort
being put into Unix and the Dec-20, here at Utah.  Not exactly migrating
or porting Unix to it, but more along the lines of a compatibility
package a la EUNICE.  This was largely motivated by our need for a
common systems language on our machines, but has developed into the aim
of enabling easy porting of large Unix programs.  The C compiler does
pretty well but isn't finished-- ahh, that word-addressing.  We haven't
touched this stuff in six months but hope to find time to start again
soon, and get something reasonable this year.

While I'm at it, does anyone know of a peephole optimizer for the PDP-10/20?
There must be one tacked onto the end of some compiler out there.
