This feature was used to support overlays under the Fortran IV+
offered by Commercial Union Leasing Corp (CULC).  We used in on
an 11/70 running the BBN version of UNIX.  There were enough
problems with it that we modified the application to use the
more UNIX-like approach of processes and pipes.  I understand
that it was eventually made to work.
