Two questions and an answer
>From FONER@MIT-AI Sat Apr 24 21:32:53 1982
I have two questions to ask of you folks, and an answer to those who
have asked about my patch to turn off NOBROADCAST when PASSALL is in
effect on a terminal.

First:  has anyone running EUNICE managed to successfully compile the
December 1981 EMACS release?  I've tried for a while (after having to
resort to a funny homegrown tapereading program), and failed.  If
anyone has managed it, I'd like to obtain the \entire/ release (we've
had problems with missing pieces) in DEC BACKUP format, which I'm
pretty sure we can read (at least, I'd hope so!).  Then I can try to
compile my own copy and we can finally run the new EMACS.

Second:  does anyone know how to change the volume label on a Files-11
Level 2 disk without initing it and starting over?  I'd like to
change the label on a pack, but don't want to copy it manually to
another pack with a different label (DSC obviously won't hack it, and
I've never had success in copying pack-to-pack with BACKUP).

Third:  my patch is finally available (sorry for the delay in putting
it on this system; I kept forgetting).  You can find it in
       [MIT-AI]DSK:CHESS;FONER PATCH

People out on the UseNet or wherever who cannot FTP it can have me
mail it to you.  Please, anyone who takes this patch, tell me so I
know who's got it.  Thanx!  The patch has been verified to work under
VAX/VMS Release 2.5 (what we're running now), and works under 2.4 and
2.3 as well since TTDRIVER was not changed by DEC between these
releases.  Some might complain that the patch is like nuking an
ant---it's well commented for a one byte patch.  However...

Thanx for any answers anyone can give me on the above two questions.
