I have been catching up on several days (maybe weeks) of
Info-vax messages which I read for informational purposes
since I am not a programmer.

It appears that Feinler's Theory of Electronic Imprinting (which
says that a user imprints like a duckling on the first editor
to which he or she is exposed, and ever after defends it to the death
or the distraction of his/her friends, whichever comes first) may
also apply to operating systems.  Hmmm.
