Not being an authority on the subject, I timidly suggest that
VMS is the way it is because DEC wanted it that way, and that
UNIX is the way it was because the few individuals who implemented it
wanted it that way.  However now that WECo is involved, UNIX will come
to reasemble whatever the market will encourage.  Unfortunately, I think
the market is not all too concerned with supporting the educational growth
of the labor force.

For the masses, I think UNIX encourages an atmosphere of comprehension.
The cost of that environment is not insignificant.  But I feel it is
extremely healthy.
