Subject: Unix VMS Eunice

It seems to me that if UCB can implement the changes described in
CSRG TR/4 (Proposals for the Enhancement of Unix on the Vax), Berkeley
Unix will be far ahead of VMS.  I would certainly advise anyone who
is debating Unix-VMS to get a copy of that report and consider
what is outlined there.  (I think ucbvax!mosher is the person to contact
for a copy.)

On the other hand, from Kashtan's report, Eunice seems to be making leaps
and bounds.  If Kashtan can indeed provide an environment on VMS which
is identical to that found under Unix, I would be tempted to get VMS
with Eunice and then perhaps have "the best of both worlds".  But, I
am unconvinced that such an environment can be provided.  For instance,
will the new version of Eunice support job control facilities like those
used in the Cshell?
