vt-100
>From BARRY@CIT-20 Wed Feb 3 14:37:05 1982
I showed some of the comments passed thru this list about the VT-100
to one of its designers, and got the following response which may be of
interest:
"DEC recognizes some, if not all of the 'problems' mentioned and they
are being considered for the eventual VT100 successor. It's fair to
say that many tradeoffs made in the VT100 were in favor of hardware
simplicity, as in 1977 when it was designed that was still a large
economic factor. The insert/delete line & character was a major
ommission; the new cost reduced VT100's (i.e. VT101 and VT102) have
added this feature. In addition it can be retrofitted to an existing
VT100 by purchasing a printer port option...but you can hardly expect
to see that in but a few percent of the installed base."
