OS-9
I wonder whether those folks who have run/are trying to run Microware's
OS-9 could comment on their experiences? I am seriously considering buying
either Logical's or ADS's (leaning toward Logical Devices) IE3 S-100
6809 board and running OS-9 on it, being of the philosophy that, if CP/M
has as its sole virtue existing software (like Obscenity System/370), then
that software is of two flavors: written in a HLL and written in machine
language. If it's of the first kind, then I can just as well use it under
OS-9, and if it's of the latter kind, then I don't care about it anyway,
CP/M being exclusively, to my knowledge, a system running on 8080-and-
descendants (***ecch***). (Thanks to Caliph Omar, burner of the Alexandrian
library, for the canonical dichotomy of the above kind.)
(Why OS-9, you ask? Well, I still can't afford a 68000, FLEX is as disgusting
as CP/M, and UniFLEX assumes that everybody wants to buy EVERYTHING at once.)
Reply to me if you wish, but I think info-micro readers in general would
be interested.
