There is a cross-product command for EMACS in the library LUNAR.
It redefines C-Q so that it can be followed by two letters,
one for a type of syntactic element and one for an operation
to perform.
C-Q followed by a control character still quotes (inserts) the character.

This command is a user extension (written by Moon).

It is a mistake to regard any particular command language
as inherent in the idea of EMACS.
