I was giving second-hand reports about Tores.  I didn't design the "virtual
memory" stuff; Jeff Schiller (the original author) retrofitted it while I
generally enhanced the editor by adding new commands.  I never got to use
the "virtual memory" version; I just heard stories.  It is clear that I do
not have hard evidence to support my claims; they are really just my
expectations.  Admitting that I don't really know what I am talking about,
I withdraw the point.

Ken Harrenstein told me tonight that he has cmopletely rewritten Tores,
and his new editor has no limitation on the size of files.  Perhaps
he can say something about how his scheme works and what the performance
is like.
