CSNet PhoneNet access
From:      Dave Crocker <DCROCKER@UDEL>
The University of Delaware  (UDel)  is  now  providing  mail-
relaying  service  between  Arpanet  and PhoneNet-based sites, as
part of NSF's CSNet Project.  PhoneNet  sites  are  contacted  by
periodic  telephone calls, initiated either by UDel or the client
site.

At the moment, the Computer Science Departments at Purdue and
Cornell   Universities  are  being  accessed  via  PhoneNet.   In
addition, several UDel and  Department  of  the  Army  sites  are
connected, as part of a separate, continuing project.  Within the
next few weeks, several more  CSNet  clients  will  be  added  to
PhoneNet.   The  rate  of  addition is expected to increase after
that.

Mail may be sent  to  PhoneNet-based  users  by  employing  a
three-part address of the form:

       mailbox.phone-site at UDel

examples are:

       denning.purdue at UDel
       dean.cornell at UDel

There are plans to develop an address directory,  similar  to
the Arpanet Directory.

The complete list of current PhoneNet sites is:

       Cornell
       Purdue
       UDel-EE
       UDel-EEVax
       UDel-CC
       UDel-CC-UnixB
       Darcom-HQ (U.S. Army)
       Micom (U.S. Army)

General  CSNet-related  questions   may   be   addressed   to
CSNet@UDel.   Questions  about  PhoneNet  mail  relaying  may  be
addressed to PhoneNet@UDel.
