Anybody have any rebuttal to this claim of mine:
Before MIRV, first-strike didn't make sense.  Each silo had one
missile with one warhead, and if you use one of yours to shoot down
one of theirs you haven't gained anything except for killing a few
personnel and making some local fallout.  But with MIRV, you can
shoot several of their silos with just one of yours, if you shoot
first, making first-strike an advantage if your warheads are accurate
enough to hit the enemy silos with high probability.
