Defense in 5 years
General Graham, who spoke tonite, says within 5 years we can build and deploy
a bunch of satellites which will defend against ICBM attacks not by firing
LASERs at them but merely by dumping clouds of debris in their paths.  Even
as small an object as an ice cube, at the relative velocity of an ICBM vs.
an intercepting satellite, would pierce the thin shell and knock out the
Soviet missile. Afterwards I inquired and he gave me an address I can write
to for more info on his proposal. -- If this plan is good, it sounds a lot
better than MX or other ideas.
