Mesa is a language of between PASCAL and ADA in philosophy and
sophistication, though much closer to ADA.  Its main distinguishing
characteristics are incredibly strong typing, complete cross-module
type consistancy checking, excellent facilities for modularization
and information-hiding within modules.  The MESA environment
features the most extensive configuration control and debugging
facilities I have ever seen.

I recommend "Mesa, Language Manual" and "Early Experience with MESA",
both Xerox publications available from PARC.
