The Fidonews at a Glance

Unfortunatly(?) work prevented me from finding the time to put
together an editorial this week. I'd rather not write anything at all
than whipping up something half-hearted.

"Top Story" is the spam attack on Fidonet this week. Shannon Talley
explains what happened in "The Email read around the World".

In the "General Articles" section Bobby Queen gives his point of
view on the spam issue in "Point About SPAM!". Gary Gilmore has some
thoughts about P4 and the future (or rather lack thereof) for Fidonet
in "Someone's high!". Last week's performance went uninterrupted from
the cheap seats, but this week Luke is back with more "Catcalls...".
Reluctantly I allow yet another article on the Nazi theme; "Continuing
the Computer Nazis' theme...". Reluctantly because I know that a lot
of readers (including this editor) take offence by the misuse of the
symbols from this dark period of mankind. If what you mean to say is
"fascist", please don't use a word that has so many other associations
attached to it. Finally Ward Dossche reminds us of some things in the
world, that could use a little of the same attention, that some more
spectacular (media-wise) events get, in "September 11th 2001,
remembering heroes!"

In "Knowing Makes the Difference" Warren Bonner gives some advice
on how to avoid the worst damage if you lose your wallet. Some details
are US specific, but you should easily be able to work out your own.

In our "International Kitchen" section, Carol makes "Japanese Deep
Fried Tako (Octopus)".

The fifth episode from "BASTARD OPERATOR FROM HELL" in the "Clean
Jokes..." plus "Johnny's ordeal", a cute little child story from the
ever so productive Warren Bonner.

The Email read around the World

Tuesday, 12 February 2002, was a beautiful sunny day here in Virginia
Beach, and the drive home from work was average. I stopped by the
store and picked up some groceries, and continued my trek home,
completely unaware of the events that transpired earlier in the day on
my BBS.

Once I arrived home, I put away the groceries, poured a glass of iced
tea, and sat down to check my Email and catch up on echomail.
Immediately upon opening my Email, I was absolutely "floored" by the
sheer amount I received that afternoon. Nearly 40 Emails in each of
my boxes and an equal amount of Netmail had all been waiting my
arrival home. I took a deep breath and began to read the first one.
Much like the rest of the Emails, it was a simple and kind
notification that a user on my BBS had spammed "EVERY SINGLE ECHO in
the NAB "AND" the WWB.

Most of the Emails were kind, and more informative in nature. Others
were extremely nasty Emails from other SYSOPs accusing me of terrible
atrocities of which I could never commit.

A user named NADIA RIVIERA2 had logged into my server earlier in the
day (12:10 est) and verified using my Email verification. I have my
Email verification setup to block over 12,000 known "anonymous" Email
accounts. However, they used one which wasn't in my system, and
effectively "slipped" through the cracks.

After verifying, they proceeded directly to my information page
regarding accessing Fidonet via Usenet (News-server). Within 30
minutes, they had sent an Email entitled: 23 Female with new website -
sexy pics of me.nws to every single echo in Fidonet.

It was too late... There was nothing I could do... They had been
tossed, and sent..

I immediately banned the user, knowing it was really too late... I
then attacked the logs with extreme prejudice. I was able to
determine their IP address (65.32.27.188), and then traced it to their
ISP (Road Runner-Southeast), and sent them an Email. That wasn't
enough... I was very angry. So, I picked up the phone and called
them. I talked to someone, who transferred me to someone else, and so
on, and so on, until I finally reached a Manager/Administrator (or so
he claimed). He knew what Fidonet was, and was aware of what that
user really did.

Then it dawned on me... Within the text of that users Spam was
reference to a "porn" site. So, I traced that porn site to an IP
address, and provided that information to the guy I was speaking with
on the phone. That IP address was a static IP owned by Road
Runner-Southeast! That was the catalyst. That user lost their

account right then - and there. I could swear I heard him actually
hit the delete key on his keyboard as he said, "He's history".

So, what do I do now... I feel like I have egg on my face, but heck,
it's not really my fault. I have done more to secure my system than
most SYSOPs have done. I certainly took care of the situation (after
the fact) I don't have time to personally validate each account! I'm a
sailor and I go to sea... ALLOT.. I have approximately 15-35(at the
most) new users every single day.

I'd like to say, "This may happen sometimes"... But that sounds lame.
I like Fidonet. I like MY Fidonet Spamless.

I believe the most I can do right now is offer you my sincere apology.
I'm terribly sorry this happened, and as god as my witness, I will do
everything I can to keep this from happening again.

Continuing the Computer Nazis' theme...

Subj ;) In Russia, we call c.Nazis 'lamers', but there is too many
people who use this word to call dummies by it, not excluding dummies
themself. Unfortunaly, I would say 'most of people'.

But that is not such bad as people on TV, radio etc those knowleges
about computers are ZERO. They call hackers 'computer genies', even
when talking about real lamers.

There are many programs-'scanners' that are used for stealing
passwords from ISPs, and each lamer can use them! I know one such
man.. He steals passwords and think himself is hacker. Sometimes
people from ISP came to him, but he doesn't open the door and thinks
he is kewl.

Once I heard on TV that a hacker had been arrested in a Russian town
for stealing and using passwords from a local ISP. They called him a
'computer genie'! I think he had used the same simple program.. And
I remember that was a program about Internet!
Heh, mey be if it could be about FidoNet, they wouldn't say so. ;)

Catcalls from the Cheap Seats

I am anxiously counting the days towards the equinox, when our
faithful editor might start seeing significantly more day than night.
Already the shorter nights are having some effects on our good Sweede,
as he apparently is moving out of his winter hibernation to notice
that gosh, BBS software looks an awful lot like a DOS screen of the
late 1980s. Not surprising, since the guts of most BBS software was
written in the late 1980s and hasn't been updated since.

Speaking of ancient history, the university courses I took several
years ago on early European governance appear to be bearing fruit at
last. Apparently, FidoNet is moving its form of governance from the
early feudal period to mid seventeenth century Great Britain's form of
representative governance. Let me outline a few basic issues which
immediately sprang to mind when I read the proposed Policy changes.

First, to claim that sysops now have the right to change Policy is
absolutely laughable. At no point do the sysops actually have any
means of registering their opinions short of an informal polling of

the sysop base by an NC.

When I was an RC back in 1991-92, I had the opportunity along with the
NCs in my Region to vote on the last significant amendment to Policy,
Pablo Kleinmann's so-called WorldPol. At that time, we did exactly
what this policy amendment suggested we do - we canvassed the sysops
in our Nets or Region and voted accordingly. Now, a full decade later,
we have a dramatic new suggestion in Policy - we're going to formally
codify the voting process as it was in 1992! Such a breathtaking
extension of democracy.

Bob Short considers such a farce to be "definite and adequate node
represntation". Apparently, he's missed out on certian democratic
advances that have occurred in the past two centuries, such as the
principle of 'one person, one vote' and the universal franchise.
Instead, we have the sysops of a rinky-dink two node network (of which
there are more than a few) having far more of a say than a vibrant
network with fifty to a hundred nodes (do they still exist?) This
reminds me of the days of the 'rotten boroughs' in the British
Parliament of the eighteenth century where the riding of Old Sarum
(and approximately thirty others) had a grand total of one legal voter
to vote for the MP.

Second, let's assume you have a mid-sized network of fifty nodes that
is split down the middle, with twenty folks on each side (and ten who
don't care). No matter which way the NC casts his or her ballot, at
least twenty nodes will have been utterly disenfrachised - their
opinions will not be recognised or recorded. Bob, your democracy
questions are clearly answered: there is no democracy, there is no
franchise, there is no progress. How can we call a process democratic
when it depends on sysops hoping that their NC or RC will listen to
what they have to say?

Finally, apparently the sysop community isn't trusted enough to
actually initiate a policy vote, which remains firmly in the hands of
the Regional Co-ordinators. This body has always had the ability to
initiate policy changes, and it's precisely because of this that there
has been no meaningful change in nearly a decade and a half.

Warren mentions in his article that Policy is unable to give sysops
the right to vote. Where do these changes do that? Nowhere. He's
always supported their right to change policy. So why are we
encouraging a policy amendment that explicitly reinforcing their
inability to propose change or to vote on change?

Let me propose my own changes.

8.1 Initiation

A referendum on policy modification is invoked when at least 10% or
one hundred sysops, whichever is smaller, in at least three Zones
inform the International CooRdinator that they wish to consider a
proposed new version of policy.

8.3 Eligibility to Vote

Each FidoNet sysop holding a valid node number is eligible to vote.
Private nodes are eligible to vote, but Hold or Down nodes are not.

Really simple. Why hasn't anyone in FidoNet suggested a basic,
grassroots level of democracy? Are sysops considered too ignorant to
deal with policies that affect their systems and their network?

It seems like FidoNet has a problem of trying to shut the barn door
after the horse has bolted, so to speak. Under a dual threat from the
Internet's rich connectivity and multimedia content, FidoNet chooses
to deal with this with.... the telnet BBS. Atfer over a decade of
complaints about Policy4 and a lack of sysop ratification, FidoNet
chooses to .... formally embed the principle of *C ratification of
Policy amendments. It's 1992 all over again.

Whatever happened to the cutting-edge aspects of FidoNet that I knew
in 1992?=

Someone's high!

This will be fairly short, and not too sweet. I keep seeing all these
posts and articles which keep trying to convince us that, if only
somehow we could change the evil and onerous "Policy 4", we'd somehow
be saving Fidonet, sun would shine, angelic choruses would sing from
heaven on high, and everyone would leave the Internet in droves,
wildly attracted to Fidonet again.

**POOF** (Here's where they wake up...)

Ain't gonna happen in a million years. You're high on crack if you
think that changing one single word in Policy 4 will "save" fidonet.
If won't do anything. NCs and RCs who care a little are already
ignoring (or "looking the other way") on parts of P4 that might not
quite work with certain connection schemes. I know I do, both as a NC
and a RC. I ignore mail hour (except maybe in some chronic "can't
connect" case), I've looked the other way on oddball connections,
routings and whatnot that weren't quite "kosher" as per the P4 bible.
Don't like that? Remove me. I'll be happy to step down and let
someone appoint some hard ass if that's what they like.

Now tell me, oh mighty saviours of Fidonet... What change are you
going to affect to P4 that'll bring back users, sysops, cause software
(which is certainly needed to re-grow Fido) to be written, cause news
stories to be read about Fidonet, etc, etc, etc.

You're not. You can delete P4, and you're not going to change a
damned thing. Those that think P4 is the root of all Fidonet's
problems are inspecting their own rectums first hand and internally.
(ie; you got your heads up your asses.)

Changing P4 now is like doing a boob job on a 97 year old woman. Why
bother? (If there's any 97yr old female sysops in Fidonet, I don't
apologize, and I'll take you on in a boxing match to defend my
comments. <laugh>)

Frank Vest thinks we need a "download door" that'll leech requested
files from Web sites. Umm, Frank? If I were a website operator, and
noticed this specific traffic, I'd block you for ripping off my site.
(I'm running a website, I'm probably making money off advertising, and
you're circumventing it... not to mention linking to my files w/o
asking.) Who in their right mind is going to sit there on a BBS,
select some file, wait while your BBS goes out and magically searches
for it, downloads it then redownloads it to you? No one. They'll say
"Man, screw this! I'll just find the file on the net!" and you've
lost another one. No, a "download door" isn't the answer. (There
used to be such "download doors", Frank (though they got files from
other BBSes, not the 'net), and they didn't cause a blip on the
Fidonet radar where popularity is concerned.) Nice try Frank, but
your idea isn't going to work.

I'm surprised you don't suggest we need Rip graphics to save our BBSes
too. (Or animated ANSI or the like...)

In fact (get out the hangmans noose), I don't think there's many ideas
that'll work to "save Fidonet". Oh, you can put your BBS "on the
net", you can do this and that, you might actually be attracting new
users (more than likely, you're just "stealing them" from other
BBSes), but you're not "beating" the internet. You're scraping by.

Unless you want to spend megabucks for dial-in lines, high-speed
connections and practically become a small ISP (while calling it "a
BBS"), you're not going to "win" against the internet. You're not
even going to break even. You've already lost.

I enjoy my BBS, the remaining handful of users (less than 15 anymore)
and enjoy most of Fidonet. I KNOW it's dying. It's in the hospice.
I want to make it's last moments comfortable, but I'm not going to
spend millions in medical procedures that will only prolong the
suffering or give me a live body but a dead mind.

I see people all over tell me "Oh, YOU might think it's dead, but WE/I
am doing <insert pipe dream here> and it's..." (my thoughts usually
trail off when I hear these pipe dreams, much like when my wife starts
detailing the things she wants me to do around the house on my next
days off...)

You're not saving it. I don't care what you do. You might give it
some extended life support, but you will NOT give it any sort of
complete recovery.

Let's face it, and better yet, let's stop fighting over Fido's will
before he's even dead. Shut up! Back off! How about just trying to
quit the petty squabbles and enjoy the time we have left with the dog?
No, I suppose it's easier for some to piss in each other's sandboxes
over bullshit that 99% of the rest of Fidonet (all 10,000 people!
Whoohoo!) don't give a damn over (and are looking at you professional

"battlers" like you're idiots)... I don't get it. I hate Janis, I
hate R12, I hate this echo, I hate the sysop one line down from me in
the nodelist, I hate the NAB, the Z1B, the WWB, the WWF, the MD, DDA,
MSCEX.. Sheesh... buncha babies. Grow up. Get over it and
yourselves. YOU are the major problems in the twilight years of
Fidonet.

Quit Fidonet if it gets your undies in such a damned bunch. IT'S A
HOBBY, REMEMBER? If your hobby bugs you that much, IT'S NOT FOR YOU!
Quit, please, and do all the rest of us that just want to enjoy what's
left alone, ok?

If you think you're going to save Fidonet, you're high. You're
suckin' on a big spleef, snortin' an ounce, suckin' on a glass pipe,
downin' a gallon of Jack Black, but you're really, really high.

Calm down and enjoy what's left, eh? Hey, who knows... maybe if
everyone sat back to enjoy what's left, what's left might last longer
because more people wouldn't hurry out the door with the lack of
fighting, saviours and hoohaa.

I'm sure the first ones to cut me down on this will be the exact type
of people I mention within, but that's to be expected. They know not
what they do. <laugh> Me? I don't care, 'cause I'm off to enjoy the
rest of the dog's life while I can.

September 11th 2001, remembering heroes!

On September 11th 2001 something terrible happened that left many
people dead, families and friends in mourning and the guilty-ones
-ourselves- are still free.

On September 11th 2001 5.000 women died worldwide while giving
childbirth because of unhygienical conditions (source WHO).

On September 11th 2001 25.000 people died worldwide in traffic related
accidents.

On September 11th 2001 30.000 children died worldwide because of
malnutrition (source WHO).

... A total of 60.000 people dead that never made the headlines
because their death wasn't spectacular.

The real sad part is that on September 12th 2001 another 60.000 people
died uselessly. And on the 13th, 14th, 15th, etc...

From then until today (March 15th 2002) that is a grand total of
9.480.000 people that died, which will never be mourned worldwide, nor
discussed, nor debated. No politicians step forward, no President
ordering to change swords into plowshears.

With all due respect to the relatives, friends, family of the people
that perished in the WTC towers. The 3.000 killed and missing
represent about 0.003% of these other deaths. At some point we have to
recognise there are worse things in life.

I left out the 1.500.000 children in Black Africa that died of Malaria
since Sept.11th 2001 (source WHO) who could have been saved with a
fraction of the war-cost in Afghanistan. But of course ... Boeing,
Marconi, Hughes, several shipyards and dozens others aren't in the
vaccine business.

10 years from now the WTC-attack will be a money-maker for New York,
it'll be another mandatory stop on sightseeing buses, there'll be
T-shirts commemorating the 3 firemen raising the flag but who'll be
dead by then because of asbestos inhalation while the city will have
again the largest urbanistic project in US history ... still every day
5.000 women die while giving childbirth in unhygienic conditions,
25.000 people die in traffic accidents and 30.000 children die of
malnutrition.

I hope everyone will be at peace with his/her conscience prior to
going to sleep after having read this.

Point About SPAM!

I've not said a word about this except to commend Shannon for taking
quick action on the message in question.

Point is the user could just have easily have called my BBS long
distance, marked all of my echos, downloaded a qwk packet, then called
back a month later to see which echos were active and then called back
less than an hour later and uploaded a qwk packet that spammed all of
the active echos on FidoNet.

WAIT THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO ME ROUGHLY 3 MONTHS AGO! But luckily I
poll for my mail via FTP and when I respond to people I IMMEDIATELY
call back and upload my outgoing mail so when that person uploaded
that QWK packet and I saw it was spamming every single echo that was
active in the past month I waited until he logged off, first cut his
access to the message areas, then dropped to DOS (YES I still run a
DOS based BBS) and deleted the outgoing packet.

Point is I moderate plenty of echos on FidoNet and I understand that
ALOT of the telnetable systems in FidoNet provide folks my echos via
NNTP. Shannon was not the only system providing echos in this manner
and the only way Sean or Gary or anyone else can keep their echos from
being carried by these systems is to either not have their echos
carried by FidoNet or make them READ ONLY which would defeat the
purpose of most echos.

I have seen that Sean relisted a pile of echos with the only change

being that they are not to be allowed to be gated via NNTP. But
logging onto a BBS via the internet and getting mail via NNTP IS NOT
GATING!

FidoNet has moved past the days of all BBS's being POTS! Sure there
are a hand full of us die-hard DOS based BBS's out here but most are
now accessible via the internet and the message bases are accessible
via all types of methods that they were not accessible by in years
past. Moderators are going to have to understand this and either
agree to have their echos carried by all of the various methods or
else make their echos READ ONLY.

Theres just no way that every BBS system on the internet can go
through and make just certain echos not accessible via NNTP and others
allowed. Besides like I said above I myself had a user try the exact
same thing less than 3 months ago and luckily I caught it and stopped
it from going out. And this was from a QWK packet on a DOS based BBS
system! So I guess then Sean or Gary would not allow their echos to
be made available to anyone running a system that allowed QWK packet
transfers? See how ridiculous this could get.

But this is not the first time FidoNet echos have been spammed and it
won't be the last. I guess everyone forgot the pyramid type scheme
that was posted in a bunch of echos around a month or so ago or the
time that BBS_ADS got spammed from a robot posting his BBS Ad some 800
times in a day or two period. Things like this are going to happen in
FidoNet from time to time and thats just something that the moderators
are going to have to expect and not get upset over.

In all the cases I can remember the SysOp of the system in question
has always taken care of the problem in a timely manner and each time
they make it a little harder for this to occur again. But I can
almost guarantee you it WILL happen again, but lets hope that the next
time the moderators are more understanding and not so quick to jump
all over a SysOp who usually takes quick action to prevent this from
happening again.

Knowing Makes the Difference

This came to my email box from a friend. The Attorney is not named
who wrote this article, but his advice is good for every one. I do
not know the companies involved in other zones, but this is good
information in zone one at least, and may be applicable in other zones
if those sysops will contact their banks for the toll free numbers.

Place the contents of your wallet on a photocopy machine. Do both
sides of each license, credit card, etc. You will know what you had
in your wallet and all of the account numbers and phone numbers to
call and cancel. Keep the photocopy in a safe place.

A corporate attorney sent this out to the employees in his company. I
pass it along, for your information.

We've all heard horror stories about fraud that's committed using your
name, address, SS#, credit, etc. Unfortunately I (the author of this
piece who happens to be an attorney) have first hand knowledge,
because my wallet was stolen last month and within a week the
thieve(s) ordered an expensive monthly cell phone package, applied for
a VISA credit card, had a credit line approved to buy a Gateway
computer, received a PIN number from DMV to change my driving record
information on line, and more.

But here's some critical information to limit the damage in case this
happens to you or someone you know. As everyone always advises, cancel
your credit cards immediately, but the key is having the toll free
numbers and your card numbers handy so you know whom to call. Keep
those where you can find them easily. File a police report immediately
in the jurisdiction where it was stolen, this proves to credit
providers you were diligent, and is a first step toward an
investigation (if there ever is one).

But here's what is perhaps most important (I never ever thought to do
this): Call the three national credit reporting organizations
immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and SS#. DO this
IMMEDIATELY!

I had never heard of doing that until advised by a bank that called to
tell me an application for credit was made over the Internet in my
name. The alert means any company that checks your credit knows your
information was stolen and they have to contact you by phone to
authorize new credit. By the time I was advised to do this, almost two
weeks after the theft, all the damage had been done.

There are records of all the credit checks initiated by the thieves'

BASTARD OPERATOR FROM HELL #5

I'm bored senseless, so I pass the time by reading users email. I
must admit that today's lot is PARTICULARLY boring, not one good
message in all of them. I was expecting at LEAST some veiled reference
to a grope in a storeroom, but nothing. So I'm bored senseless by the
usual drivel about some relative's surgery and how the weather is over
the other side of the world - that sort of crap.

To relieve the boredom, I remove a e-mail party invite from a user's
mail and post it under the senders username to to
alt.singles.with.severe.social. dysfunctions on news, and make a note
in my diary to be there with my camcorder. Should be a blast!

Next in line is the online medical records database, in which the
company doctors store the current medical histories of the staff. I
grep it quickly for "herpes" and "syphillus" and sell the results to
the local scum newspaper. I cover my tracks by adding an entry to one
of the doctor's online electronic diarys for yesterday saying "DO500,
Med Recs To Paper" I think that's all it should take..

I move some tapes from the racks to the trolley to make it look like
we really use them, then start looking thru archie listings for a
hidden x-gif site. I find one then start a batch job running under
some user's account to get them all back, charged to him. I make sure
he's got enough disk for the job by removing any files not related to
the task at hand. Like all those "Doctorate Final Report" papers that
have got quite large in the last couple of weeks.

I go back to the mail now, as something's bound to have happened. I
do a grep on all mail files for the words "pregnant" and "family way",
and post them anonymously to the local general interest newsgroup.

Then, before anything can happen, the power goes out! The next
second, the phone rings.

"Hello?" I say, annoyed - the coyote was just about to kill roadrunner
again!

"Has the comput.."

I hang up. This is a matter of life or death. Quick as I can I rip
the computer power cable out of the UPS and plug the TV in. Damn!
Wylie missed again!

Meantime, all the alarms are going off like crazy as the disks spin
down, but that's ok, because my Mac and Terminal are hardwired to the
UPS in any case; and I'm at the Beer Factory level in Dark Castle too.

The phone rings, so I pull the PABX breaker on the UPS switchboard and
it stops. Now to look like I'm working. I break out the puck and the
hockey stick and play a little one-on-wall. From the observation

window it'll look like I'm being blindingly efficient, as per usual.

10 Minutes later, the power is back and we're two HDA's down, but what
the hell, I haven't lost a man, I'm onto the final screen, and there's
more cartoons!

The phone rings, it's a luser. (What a surprise)

"Computer Room" I say, being efficient

"Hello, when will the compu..."

I hang up. I'm doing well in the screen, all I need do is get past the
wizard who throws spells at you and I'm in!

The phone rings again. I put it on hands free

"Computer Room" I shout, still deep in the game.

"I've lost my files" a user whines over the loudspeaker

"You bet you have" I say, as my concentration lapses just long enough
for me to get zapped by the wizard.

"What was your username?" I say, all sweetness and smiles

He tells me, I look, and he's right. Shit, and I didn't even do it!

Not to be outdone, I change his login directory to the null device,
set his path to "." and redefine the command "news" to execute a
script in his old login directory to send a nasty message to the equal
opportunities officer, then delete itself.

Now that's trying!

Johnny's ordeal

A first-grade teacher, Ms. Brooks, was having trouble with one of her
students.

The teacher asked, "Johnny, what is your problem?"

Johnny answered, "I'm too smart for the 1st grade. My sister is in the
3rd grade and I'm smarter than she is! I think I should be in the 3rd
grade too!"

Ms. Brooks had had enough. She took Johnny to the principal's office.
While Johnny waited in the outer office, the teacher explained to the
principal what the situation was.

The principal told Ms. Brooks he would give the boy a test, and if he
failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the first
grade and behave. She agreed. Johnny was brought in and the conditions

were explained to him and he agreed to take the test.

Principal: "What is 3 x 3?"
Johnny: "9"

Principal: "What is 6 x 6?"
Johnny: "36"

And so it went with every question the principal thought a third
grader should know.

The principal looks at Ms. Brooks and tells her, "I think Johnny can
go to the 3rd grade."

Ms. Brooks says to the principal, "Let me ask him some questions." The
principal and Johnny both agreed.

Ms. Brooks asks, "What does a cow have four of that I have only two
of?" Johnny, after a moment: "Legs."

Ms. Brooks: "What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?"
The principal wondered, why does she ask such a question! Johnny
replied: "Pockets."

Ms. Brooks: "What does a dog do that a man steps into?" Johnny:
"Pants"

Ms. Brooks: What's starts with a C and ends with a T, is hairy, oval,
delicious and contains thin whitish liquid? Johnny: Coconut

The principal's eyes open really wide and before he could stop the
answer, Johnny was taking charge.

Ms. Brooks: What goes in hard and pink then comes out soft and sticky?
Johnny: Bubble gum

Ms. Brooks: What does a man do standing up, a woman do sitting down
and a dog do on three legs?" The principal's eyes open really wide and
before he could stop the answer. Johnny: "Shake hands"

Ms. Brooks: What word starts with an 'F' and ends in 'K' that means a
lot of heat and excitement? Johnny: "Firetruck"

The principal breathed a sigh of relief and told the teacher, "Put
Johnny in the fifth-grade, I got the last seven questions wrong!

How to Submit an Article

If you wish to submit an article for inclusion in the Fidonews, here
are some guidelines, if you send it as an attached file; the preferred
method if you want reasonable control over how the published article
will appear in the Fidonews:

a) Plain ASCII text. If you could type it on your keyboard, it's
probably quite OK...

b) Put a title to the article. Put the title in two times. The first
time, on the first line, with an * before it. The second time, on
the second line, without the * and centered. This will help in the
format since the title with the * is removed and used in the index,
the second line will become the headline. On the third line, put
your name and FidoNet address, present or former. If former, you
may want to add some other address where you can be reached for
personal comments.

c) Deadline for article submission is Sunday, 01:00 UTC.

Help the Editor by following the above guides. Below are some subjects
and the file extension for the article as set in the configuration
file for the making of the Fidonews. The file name can be anything up
to 8 characters. Please help by putting the file extension of the
correct subject on the file name if known..

article is not accepted. It means that there is something in it that I
can not fix and I need your help on it.
