 Despite the inconvenience it causes for my loved ones, I think my decision to
limit my time online has really started to help my mental health. The stress
dreams have stopped for the time being, and I've felt much better in general
over the last few days. It just makes it a little more difficult for them to
contact me, with some of them not living in the same house, and rarely using
their phones. They prefer Discord... Maybe I could set up libpurple-discord or
something to use on my MacBook, since I'd rather use something like IRC that
is less likely to interrupt me while I'm in the middle of something, or crash
the sound system like it does on all my other devices.

 Speaking of my MacBook, I have the screen working mostly okay again somehow.
Letting the device sit for a while seems to have made things a lot better on it
for some strange reason, though I'd still like the get a replacement screen for
the poor thing at some point. It's served me well for long enough that I missed
using it regularly, and with limited web access, it's nice to use for working
on projects when I don't want to be bothered by anyone. And with MacPorts, I
have modern Python, Ruby, Lua, and Perl to work with. Hell, I can even grab
Rust and Go for certain terminal apps. So I'm not without options to "make my
own shit" if I need to. Plus, you know, XCode and C/ObjC/Cocoa.

 (And yes, I have MacVim installed. I just don't use it all that often.)

 Overall, the quiet has been beneficial for my mind. As they say, "ignorance
is bliss", and I believe it. Not looking at the doom-an-gloom news sites and
social web really does make a difference. I see people call it a "social web
detox", but whatever it is, I'd recommend it to anyone who needs peace and
quiet in their life.
