- The server can now be started with a command procedure. In this procedure
several logical names are defined which the server translates to determine
where the log file goes, if any; where the security file is, if it is to be
used; the internet port number on which to listen so you can have more than one
server running on different ports; where the data is for this server; and the
definition of the root directory for the data.
- The server will now sort the directory listing in alphabetical order and then
send it to the client. It can also follow an internal ordering scheme set up
by the administrator.
- The server should no longer die if it is fed an incorrect directory
specification to get a directory listing.
- The server will now execute a .com file and send the results back to the
client. The first line of the .com file MUST have "$!" as the first two
characters. This is how the server determines whether or not the file is a
text file or a command procedure.
- The server now handles subdirectories correctly.
- The server will now allow the use of gopher_rootXX similar to hlp$library_xx
to point to more files. In this way, if you have a place where you want to
server a file from that is not in the default gopher_root directory tree, you
can create a .link file to point to this other file and create a logical name
gopher_rootxx logical name to point there. All files in that directory and
those under that directory will be visible in a directory listing.
- Hopefully we now have UCX support.
- Some other general cleaning up has to be done yet also.
