About Hyper-G Tools & Utilities
-------------------------------

The HyperMedia Unit is now the central production and storage
facility for Hyper-G tools and utilities. We have developed several
tools to complement the more general set produced in Graz. These
locally developed tools have been extremely useful in our work
setting up and maintaining a Hyper-G server.

To facilitate distribution, we have set up an ftp site where you can
fetch and deposit new tools and documentation.

To get tools:       ftp://cs.auckland.ac.nz/out/Hyper-G/tools
To deposit tools:   ftp://cs.auckland.ac.nz/in/Hyper-G/tools

All of the tools developed by the HMU are UNIX based PERL scripts.
We'd highly recommend that ALL new UNIX based Hyper-G tools be
written in PERL, due to its power and portability.

If you wish to make tools you have written available to others, we
ask that you follow some simple submission guidelines. Please fill
in the submission information section below and include it in the
compressed archive file you submit.

   UNIX: *.tar.gz

tar the info, documentation, source and/or executables
then gzip the resulting tar archive

   PC: *.zip

zip the info, documentation, source and/or executables

   Mac: *.cpt.hqx

compact the info, documentation, source and/or
executables, then binhex the resulting cpt archive

To deposit tools:   ftp://cs.auckland.ac.nz/in/Hyper-G/tools
