GAMBLE is the Gopher Alpha Micro Browsing-Linking Environment.

GAMBLE is a simple gopher client for Alpha Micro systems running AlphaTCP
1.3C or 1.5A. When started, it will load the Alpha Micro menu at Floodgap.

Because of the way GAMBLE is written for compatibility, it cannot access ports
other than 70, and it cannot access hostname-selector combinations that exceed
a certain length or that contain @ or " characters. However, it can display
menus and text files unlimited by memory, access search servers (on port 70),
and download binary files.

When a gopher menu is being displayed:
a-z    Select a menu item. (Items that cannot be selected show -.) The item
will be displayed or downloaded as appropriate:

      > displayable item
      $ downloadable item
      ? search server

If the menu has more than 26 items, the last displayed item with that
      letter will be chosen.

A-Z    Download a menu item. (Items that cannot be selected show -.) You will
be asked for a filename. It will be saved to the same PPN you are
logged into. You may download menus as well, just not search servers.

If the menu has more than 26 items, the last displayed item with that
      letter will be chosen.

TAB    Back up. A stack of up to 10 selectors is remembered.
(If you're viewing this in GAMBLE, press TAB when you're done and it
will go back to the menu that brought you here.)

=      Display the current location.

/      Enter a new host and selector. Port 70 is required. It is assumed this
is a gopher menu. The selector may be blank to indicate the root menu.

SPACE  Advance through the displayed menu or document, or restart at the end.

ESC    Quit the client and return to AMOS.
