MUSERS
User Maintenance Programs
by James A. Jarboe IV
MUSERS is an ESP based application program designed to replace or
supplement the MUSER.LIT program to maintain the USER.SYS file. The
advantage in using the MUSERS program is that it provides on-line help
for every field, it provides for easier access to ADD, MODIFY, DELETE or
INQUIRE modes, it provides for report output to a printer or a file, it
provides password protection for access and user deletion, read and
write security levels, it provides for user selectable default values
when adding new users, and it also provides an easy method of displaying
a list of users to select from in order to modify or delete existing
user data.
INSTALLATION
1.) MUSERS is distributed in the self extracting AlphaArchive file
MUSE.LIT. All MUSERS programs, ESP screens, on-line help files,
user modifiable Messge table source file and verifiable directory
listing are included.
2.) Create an MUSERS: erstaz device. The Device and PPn can be of
your choice, but the MUSERS: name must defined in the ersatz
table. Edit your ersatz definition file and add:
MUSERS: = DSKn:[100,14]
The device and PPn specification can be your own selection.
REBOOT your system if necessary to reload the ERSATZ definition
file.
3.) Place the self extracting MUSE.LIT file in the MUSERS: ersatz
account. Log into the MUSERS: ersatz account and type:
MUSE
This will extract all files needed for MUSERS into the MUSERS:
ersatz account.
4.) The MUSERS.LIT and the MUSPRT.LIT program files must be located
in SYS: account. The remaining files in the MUSERS package must be
located in the MUSERS: ersatz account. These files are the ESP
screens, On-line help files and report screens that MUSERS
programs will search for in the MUSERS: ersatz account.
5.) To run MUSERS, you must be logged into the OPR: account. Once
logged into the OPR: account, from the AMOS prompt type:
MUSERS (return)
For additional information on how to run MUSERS, type HELP from
the MUSERS command prompt. Once in the MUSERS edit display screen,
you may press the HELP key or ^[? for immediate on-line help for
any field.
