; Dungeon of Dread - Page 60 ....>..|.......|.......|.......|.......|.......|.......|.......|......|...< $You will definitely need both hands to attack the spider.  You hand the $glowing globe to Laurus and whisper a few words to him.  Even as you $speak, the evil spider begins to decend from the ceiling of the $corridor. $Your heart racing with fear, you move under the decending spider.  It $draws closer, and it will soon land upon you!  Laurus throws the $beetle's light-gland at the foul beast, and it smacks the spider in its $stomach.  All eight legs reach upwards clasping the ball of light in a $reflex action. $Before the spider can regain its balance, you rise and thrust at its $black belly with your sword. $The spider crashes down, dropping the glowing globe.  It's furry legs $twitch, but the life ebbs out of the monstrous body.  It soon dies, and $you cut your way through its sticky web. $"We did it! We did it!" yells the exited halfling. "I helped! Did you $see?" $"Yes Laurus, we did you it," you say, slashing away the last strands of $the web.  "I knew you would do just fine, and you did." $You hurry away, pleased to have won the battle and emerged without a $scratch. \ $Ahead of you the corridor divides into two new passages, one to your $right, the other sloping down to your left.  The passage on your right $looks like the timbers supporting it are old and unsafe. $"Which way should we go?" you ask the halfling. $"I don't care," he replies. "I'm not scared of anything!  I'll go $either way!  Watch out monsters, here comes Laurus the Brave!" $A rat comes squeaking out of the passage on the right, and Laurus jumps $behind you. $"Laurus the Brave?" you ask.  The halfling does not answer 71.
