Nasty creatures that are to be
destroyed by you ... if they
don't get you first.
* Star.
Run over these to get more fuel
and ammo (at which time are turned
into asteroids).
O Asteroid.
You can't run into these (neither
can the klingons). However, if you
shoot at them, they are turned into
vapor clouds.
# Vapor Cloud.
If any thing runs over these,
they become confused and, as a
result, are turned in a random
direction. If a torpedo goes
through one of these it ages
(thus uping the chance of a
nova) and may possibly turn
right back at you!
=+= You.
The Enterprise.
+ Torpedo.
Instruments of destruction. See below
for firing instructions. At lower
levels, klingons can also fire
torpedoes (the lower the level, the
more accurate their aim). Torpedoes
can wrap around, and will until they
hit something (klingon, star, asteroid,
YOU). However, the longer it takes
to hit something, the more unstable the
torpedo becomes (aging). When the
torpedo is completely unstable it may
explode prematurely (nova). The nova
will destroy ANYthing surrounding the
torpedo. If you have shields on, it
takes at least 1000 units of fuel to
live through a nova. Any torpedoes
in a nova blast range will not be
destroyed, but will be aged greatly.
As a result, that torpedo will
probably nova very shortly after
the nova blast (possibly causing a
chain reaction nova). Don't forget,
vapor clouds also age torpedoes.
Keystrokes:
.n Set speed.
Where n is 0-9. 0 will stop the
ship, 9 goes VERY fast. Note:
the faster you go, the more fuel
you use.
/ Reprint the screen.
If, for any reason, the screen
becomes garbled this will re-
display the 'universe'.
S Toggle shields.
Turn off/on shields. Shields
require fuel to work, so if you
get hit by anything, it will use
up fuel. If you run out of fuel....
too bad!
Note: At levels 5 and less,
the klingons have the
ability to use shields.
The lower the level, the
higher the probability.
Q Quit the game.
CHICKEN!!!
5n Fire torpedo.
Where n is 1-4, 6-9 (direction).
If n=0, start self-destruct
sequence.
If n is none of the above the
command is ignored.
n Move in direction n.
Where n is 1-4, 6-9. (see directon
table).
ESC Hyperspace.
This command will place you
randomly, anywhere in the galaxy.
Possibly on a star (fuel), or
klingon (he gets destroyed).
However, you hyperspace onto an
asteroid, you get destroyed.
This command will also abort the
self-destruct sequence (if you
make a boo-boo).
Notes of interest:
There is wrap around (for you and the klingons). Torpedoes
can wrap around (right back at you ... hee hee hee).
At very low levels, the klingons can dodge torpedoes.
At level one, klingons can 'jump' move (i.e., move more than
one position per movement). This level is for expert players
only and should not be attempted by beginners (I promise you
will go insane).
Last, but most definitly not least; the lower the level, the
lower the concentration of stars in the galaxy and the higher
the concentration of asteroids and klingons.
