First case of tularemia infection recorded in Russia
On June 21, the press service (

Rospotrebnadzor department for the Omsk region reported the
first case of tularemia infection registered this year. As the
NGS55 correspondent was told in the press service of the
department, the first case was a man - a resident of Omsk.
- The epidemiological situation of tularemia infection became
more complicated in 2016-2018, when 62 cases of tularemia were
registered in the city of Omsk and 19 districts of the region. The
worsening of the epidemiological situation was facilitated by the
prevailing climatic conditions in the region and, in connection with
this, the activation of natural foci, the office of Rospotrebnadzor
for the Omsk region explained.
