is advertising a job that involves looking into the future and
anticipating security threats that could occur up to and including
the year 2030.
For 56,000 a year, the successful employee must figure out what

rogue foreign states in the future. The information technology

governmental departments.
In an advertisement, MI5 bosses say: "The research you will be
developing will be future focused, looking out between three and

an article on the Daily Star website, candidates should have an
interest in vehicle computer systems to help track and collate
information on specified targets.
The advert adds: "MI5 safeguards the UK against threats such as
terrorism, espionage, cyber and sabotage. We investigate suspect
individuals and organisations in the UK to obtain, collate, analyse
and assess secret intelligence relating to these threats.
"You’ll enjoy varied and rewarding work in a supportive and
encouraging environment that puts the emphasis on teamwork.
We oversee activities including academic and industry horizon
scanning; strategic technology research to inform organisational
priorities; and applied research and prototype development to assist
capability development.
"In addition, we build science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics capability to enhance operations."
The job is based in central London and is offered with full-time and
part-time opportunities and flexible working hours. To work at MI5,
you need to be a British citizen or hold dual British nationality.
The role will require the highest security clearance, known as
Developed Vetting, and MI5 has a strict drugs policy, so you cannot
take any recreational drugs and you will need to declare any previous
