Sri Lanka: Covid brought the railway to a halt

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Railways said (https://bit.ly/3IRlysn)
that 14 train operations were canceled on Monday (31), as several
locomotive operators tested positive for COVID-19.
Accordingly, six trains operating along the Main Line, four trains
operating along the Coastal & Kelaniveli Line, three trains operating
along the Puttlam Line, and the train operating to Kurunegala on the
Northern Line were canceled.
Sri Lanka is included in the list of countries with a high level of
vaccination of the population. About 75% of residents received at
least one dose of the vaccine. However, on January 28, the day of
the first anniversary of the start of universal vaccination, the press
center of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health reported a sharp
increase in hospitalizations of patients infected with COVID-19.
According to medical officials, the reason for this is the reluctance
of many people to get a third vaccine against COVID-19.
