As part of the vaccination campaign launched by French Interior
Minister Gerald Darmanen, every third mosque out of 89 in
France has been closed since November 2020, reports Yeni Sabah.
Darmanen told Italian newspaper La Figaro that a total of 650
Muslim places of worship have been closed since the separatism
law came into force, and 24,000 have been inspected by security
officials for "extremism." In addition, the minister said that at the
moment law enforcement agencies are taking measures to close six
more mosques due to the radicalization of the parishioners.
According to the official, the French Interior Ministry is also trying
to prevent the construction of the Eyup Sultan mosque in Strasbourg,
which is being built with the permission of the municipal
authorities.
In addition, bank accounts of 205 still legal Muslim organizations
were arrested, and two imams were deported. However, Darmanen
believes that this is not enough. The law on separatism allows us to
do more. We will terrorize those who terrorize us, he says. Many
traditional Muslim doctors are known to openly oppose the Covid-19
vaccination. The Muslim muftis do not prevent these people from
coming forward. The overall percentage of support for vaccination
among Muslims is much lower than in France in general.
