Section 1: What this FAQ is.
This guide is hidden combo tricks. It is not a full FAQ/Walkthrough for Tony
Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (now refered to as THPS4). In this guide I will explain
how to execute hidden combos during a variety of tricks. I will also explain
what is needed to pull off these tricks. This FAQ will not provide a list of
full tricks, just ones that can't be done without doing something else. All of
the sections include tips on how to use them properly. Very few of these are
mentioned in the game.
The reason I started this guide was a topic on the THPS4 board at gamefaqs.com.
The person wanted to know what the hidden combos were, so here they are.
These hidden combos can be executed by going into a manual or nose manual and
pressing the buttons for the desired move. Press "square + square" perform a
board flip or R2 to perform a spin.
Manual: Up, Down
Square + Square: 360 Fingerflip
R2: Pivot
Nose Manual: Down, Up
Square + Square: Half Cab Impossible
R2: Pivot
Anti Casper: Square + Triangle
Square + Square: Anti Casper Flip
R2: Anti Casper Spin
Tips: These tricks are used countlessly in bringing up scores throughout the
game. At the end of your run you should go into a manual and pull off
some of these tricks untill you get what score you need. It is always
good to do a flip (Square + Square) or spin/pivot (R2) for each hidden
combo. For example: in Chicago, the "100,000 point flatland tricks."
You have to get 100,000 points. If you do all of your specials and
still don't have enough, just pull some of these. They also work well
when your competition run is ending.
These hidden combos are done by going into a lip trick (handplant or axle
stalls) and pressing the buttons for the desired trick. There is a difference
in going up in a handplant or axle trick.
----------
Handplants|
----------
Invert: Triangle + Triangle
Andrecht Invert: Triangle + Circle
One Foot Invert: Square + Square
Eggplant: Square + Circle
Gymnast Plant: Circle + Circle
Varial Invert to Fakie: Circle + Square
*note: There are no tricks for the combos "Triangle + Square",
"Square + Triangle" or "Circle + Triangle"
-----------
Axle Tricks|
-----------
Noseblunt: Triangle + Triangle
Nosepick: Triangle + Square
Blunt to Fakie: Triangle + Circle
Disaster: Square + Square
Rock to Fakie: Square + Circle
Axle Stall: Circle + Circle
Boneless: Circle + Square
*note: There are no tricks for the combos "Square + Triangle" or
"Circle + Triangle"
Tips: Just like the flatland hidden combos, these can be used to bring up
scores at the end of your run. When executing the lip hidden combos, it
is always a good idea to keep the balance bar towards the ramp so if it
goes out of control you can keep the run going.
These hidden combos can be done by getting into a grind on a rail, coping or
any grindable edge. To perform these you must press the buttons for the
desired trick.
50-50 Grind: Triangle + Triangle
Noseslide: Triangle + Square
Nosegrind: Triangle + Circle
Smith Grind: Square + Square
Tailslide: Square + Triangle
5-0 Grind: Square + Circle
Crooked/Overcrook Grind: Circle + Circle
Bluntslide: Circle + Square
Nosebluntslide: Circle + Triangle
Tips: I rarely use these since most rails are to short to execute any. Though,
if you can get to a rail that goes in a circle, these tricks do give you
more points. It's also fun when you are free skating to do combos on the
rail.
These hidden combos are executed by going into a grab and pressing the Circle
button twice. The first ones use the default controls so you might not be able
to do them with the skater you're using.
One Foot Tailgrab: Down, Circle + Circle
Stiffy: Right, Circle + Circle
Method: Left, Circle + Circle
Rocket Air: Up, Circle + Circle
Christ Air: Down-Right, Circle + Circle
One Foot Japan: Up-Left, Circle + Circle
Judo: Up-Right, Circle + Circle
Sacktap: Down-Right, Circle + Circle
These next ones do not have default controls.
Fingerflip Cannonball: Cannonball, Circle + Circle
Tuckknee: Crail Grab, Circle + Circle
Crooked Cop: Crossbone, Circle + Circle
BS Shifty: FS Shifty, Circle + Circle
Del Mar Indy: Indy Nosebone, Circle + Circle
Seatbelt Air: Mute, Circle + Circle
Body Wrap: Wrap Around, Circle + Circle
Stalefish Tweak: Stalefish, Circle + Circle
Tips: At the end of your run, most tricks aren't giving very many points.
These can keep the points coming and hopefully give you enough to make
the score.
These hidden combos are performed by doing a flip trick using two or three
presses of the square button. The first ones are using default controls so
they may not be the same as one of your skaters.
Ollie North Back Foot Flip: Ollie North, Square + Square
360 Sal Flip: Sal Flip, Square + Square
360 Varial: 180 Varial, Square + Square
Double Back Foot Flip: Back Foot Kickflip, Square + Square
Double Back Foot Flip: Back Foot Heelflip, Square + Square
Double Front Foot Impossible: Front Foot Impossible, Square + Square
Double Finger Flip: Fingerflip, Square + Square
Ollie Airwalk Late Shove-It: Ollie Airwalk, Square + Square
Tips: At the end of your run, most tricks aren't giving very many points.
These can keep the points coming and hopefully give you enough to make
the score.
