o What to Use?- If you are new to Online Play, and are wondering what to use,
try to play with all of the Weapons, and see which one fits you best. If you
are having trouble figuring out which one is best for you, here are a few
highly popular choices:
Primary: FN M249 SAW
Secondary: H&K Mark 23
Item 1: Gas Mask
Item 2: Tear Gas Grenades
Those are just a few of the popular Weapons. Go and try out a Kit that works
the best for you. Here is mainly what I use:
Primary: Steyr AUG-A1 / Colt M-16A2
Secondary: IMI Desert Eagle / H&K Mark 23
Item 1: Gas Mask
Item 2: Tear Gas Grenades / Frag Grenades
o Capacity- The Magazine Capacity of a Weapon is, of course, how many rounds of
Ammunition the Weapons Magazine can hold. Here is a tip: After pressing 'X' to
reload, press 'X' again to reload one more time. You should notice that the
rounds in your Magazine have increased by one (1). Take the Steyr AUG for
example; it has a Capacity of 30 rounds in its Magazine. Now, reload after a
refreshing firefight and you now have 30 rounds. Reload once more, and you have
31 rounds in your Magazine, thus making 30 + 1, or 31. Now you're thinking,
"What is one bullet going to do?" Well, one bullet in Rainbow Six 3 can be the
difference between a Hostage being killed, or the Terrorist aiming the gun at
his/her head being killed. Also, note that if you have 13 bullets in a magazine
and you reload to get a fresh 30 round magazine, you will eventually run into
that magazine with 13 bullets in it, so think twice before you reload.
o Ammunition Types- The Weapons of Rainbow Six 3 are ALL real-world Weapons,
which the majority of them are used by Counter-Terrorist Teams, and Special
Forces units around the world. Since the Weapons are real, the Ammunition they
fire is also real, and in effect, acts real. Fire a 9mm round at a door;
nothing happens. Fire a 7.62x51mm NATO round at a door, and the round will
pierce through, and kill the unlucky Terrorist standing behind it. Short Range
situations require Ammunition that will take down the Target, but not pierce
through the Target, and hit a close by friendly. For Long Range situations, the
Ammunition has to have enough Range to reach out and touch someone, but enough
power to take out the threat quickly.
Refer to the below Chart for info regarding Ammunition Characteristics:

II. FAQ Navigation System..................................................FN~
_______________________________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The Navigation System compromised of a combination of letters, and a symbol
(the Tilde (~) key). All of my future FAQs will include this new system, making
for an easier, and more helpful FAQ experience.
Here is how it works:
Look in the Table of Contents for a specific section, find the code and do the
following:
Press CTRL and F on a PC, or the Special Key and F on a Macintosh. A search box
will then appear; search for the code, and you will be taken to that section.
This system is fairly new, so it is bound to have bugs in it. Please inform me
of any errors in the FAQ, or with the system itself. My E-Mail is in the Legal
Section of the FAQ.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
[Weapon Description] The preferred Submachine Gun of Counter-Terrorist
Operatives around the world, the H&K MP5A4 Submachine Gun is known for its
Reliability and Accuracy, even when firing on Full Automatic.
[Weapon Description] Terrorists throughout the world fear the H&K MP5SD5
Submachine Gun. Its integral Sound Suppressor is so effective that the report
of the bullet is miniscule compared to the click of the Operating Bolt.
Rainbow uses the H&K MP5SD5 whenever both Accuracy and Stealth are essential.
[Weapon Description] The H&K UMP is a .45 Cal Submachine Gun roughly based on
the H&K MP5 series. The stopping power of its round comes at the price of an
increased recoil and lower rate of fire.
[- FN P90 Personal Defense Weapon w/ Reflex Sight -]
[Weapon Description] The FN P90 Submachine Gun is a 5.7x28mm, Blowback Operated
Selective Fire weapon. It is fed from 50-round box magazines, and is made from
translucent polymer. It was developed in the late 1980s and may be referred as
a forerunner of the PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) concept.
[Weapon Description] The Steyr TMP Submachine Gun is a modern compact
Submachine Gun. It is a Blowback Operated, Locked Breech design with a
Rotating Barrel. The Steyr TMP is reported as a very controllable and
comfortable to fire firearm.
[Weapon Description] The Ingram MAC-11/9 Submachine Gun was developed around
1970 when Special Forces and Police Units in USA and other countries adopted
it. Its high rate of fire and small size make it ideal for close combat.
[Weapon Description] The SR-2 is a modern Machine Pistol currently in use with
Special Forces. Its special 9x21mm Gurza Ammunition is sufficiently powerful to
penetrate most forms of body armor.
[Weapon Description] The H&K G3A3 Assault Rifle is a standard Assault Rifle.
It fires the powerful 7.62x51mm NATO round. This is the most accurate
Assault Rifle in Rainbow's arsenal.
[Weapon Description] The H&K G36C Assault Rifle is an extremely modern weapon.
Its compact design making it useful in close quarters, while its 5.56x45mm NATO
round penetrates most body armor.
[Weapon Description] The Colt M16A2 has proven itself over time as its
5.56x45mm NATO round easily penetrates body armor. When extra range or
firepower is called for, Rainbow turns to the Colt M16A2.
[Weapon Description] A compact version of the Colt M16A2 Assault Rifle, the
Colt M4 Assault Rifle is commonly used when the firepower of an Assault Rifle
is needed, but the weight and size is not. It is commonly used by U.S. and
Israeli special forces.
[Weapon Description] The Steyr AUG Assault Rifle is a futuristic looking
Assault Rifle with a compact Bullpup design. It is well suited for missions
requiring the maneuverability of a Submachine Gun combined with the punch of
an Assault Rifle.
[Weapon Description] The FAMAS G2 Assault Rifle fires the 5.56x45mm NATO round.
Its rate of fire of 950 rounds per minutes is the highest among Rainbow's
Assault Rifles.
[Weapon Description] The IMI TAR-21 line of weapons are scheduled to soon
replace the venerable Galil line in the Israeli Military. The weapon is offered
in four configurations with the TAR-21 being the basic Infantry Rifle.
[Weapon Description] This Israeli-made Assault Rifle is basically a recreation
of the AK-47 design chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge. A Magazine can
hold up to 100 rounds and it has a rate of fire of 650 rounds per minute.
[Weapon Description] The Enfield L85A1 Assault Rifle is the standard Infantry
weapon of the British Army. Its Bullpup design trades Accuracy for
Maneuverability.
[Weapon Description] The Kalashnikov AK-47 Assault Rifle comes directly from
the AK-74, but is chambered for a 7.62x39mm round similar to the 7.62x51mm NATO
round. When compared to M16A2, the AK-47 shows slightly worse accuracy, but
better reliability in battle environment and lower maintenance requirements.
[Weapon Description] The FN M249 SAW Light Machine Gun is a Light Machine Gun
firing the 5.56x45mm NATO round. It comes with a 200-round box magazine.
It packs tremendous firepower, but is only accurate from a crouched stationary
position. Used this way, it is an effective covering weapon.
[Weapon Description] The M60E4 Light Machine Gun was designed in the late
1940's and its initial design strongly borrows from German MG-42. It uses
100-round belts and has a fire rate of 575 rounds per minute.
[Weapon Description] The H&K PSG-1 is arguably the most accurate off-the-shelf
Sniper Rifle available. A favorite of Police Forces around the world, the
H&K PSG-1 Sniper Rifle comes standard with a 10x sight and fires the
7.62x51mm NATO round.
[Weapon Description] The Barrett M82A1 Sniper Rifle was the first .50 Caliber
Sniper Rifle to achieve widespread use. Its massive length (1.55m) and weight
(13.4 kg) make it one of the most accurate Sniper Rifles in Rainbow's arsenal.
Extreme care should be used in employing this weapon, as its high powered .50
Cal round can tear through multiple targets just as easily as it can through
an engine block.
[Weapon Description] The AW Covert Sniper Rifle is a Suppressed Sniper Rifle
firing the 7.62x51mm Sub-Sonic round. This round is less powerful than the
standard 7.62x51mm NATO round, making this rifle slightly less powerful and
accurate than other Sniper Rifles. This reduced effectiveness is offset by the
rifle being Suppressed by default.
[Weapon Description] Developed in South Korea, the USAS-12 is a Fully Automatic
Shotgun based on the M16 design. Due to it's weight with 20-Round detachable
Drum Magazines, the USAS-12 is said to be controllable in Full Automatic mode.
[Weapon Description] Whether used for door breaching or highly lethal close
quarters combat, a good Tactical Shotgun is an essential part of all
Anti-Terrorist teams. Rainbow uses the 12 Gauge Benelli M1 Shotgun, largely
because of its superb recoil characteristics and reliability.
[Weapon Description] The extreme ruggedness, reliability, and match-grade
accuracy of the .45 Cal Mark 23 has made it handgun of choice for U.S.
Special Forces. A specially designed Sound and Flash Suppressor virtually
eliminates muzzle flash and provides more than 35dB of sound reduction.
An essential part of any Rainbow mission requiring both firepower and
discretion.

Launcher can propel 40mm Grenades of different types over 50 meters away.
M203 HE (High-Explosive) Rounds- High-Explosive Grenade that has large blast
radius. Leaves a cloud of Yellow smoke after detonation.

unfortunate to be in the blast radius. Only drawback is a rather small blast
radius. Leaves a cloud of Red smoke after detonation.

lungs of anyone that walks through the cloud of Tear Gas. Tear Gas cloud
remains in area for about one minute after detonation.
M203 Smoke Rounds- Grenade that releases a large cloud of Orange smoke, which
effectively cloaks movement, and enables the user to make full use of their
Thermal Goggles.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
[Weapon Description] The Frag Grenade is you basic Hand Grenade. It has a much
larger blast radius than the M34 White Phosphorus Grenade, but doesn't do as
much damage to those closest to the blast radius.
[Weapon Description] The M34 White Phosphorus Grenade is essentially a
special-use Grenade. It is perfect against targets that wear body armor, or are
well dug-in. These Grenades almost literally vaporize anyone caught in the
blast radius.
[Weapon Description] The signature Grenade of Rainbow. This Grenade is used to
prep a room prior to entry, when Intel suggests that the room may contain
Hostages.
[Weapon Description] The Smoke Grenade is self-explanatory. It releases a cloud
of Gray smoke that cloaks movement, and is a perfect opportunity to utilize
your Thermal Goggles.
[Weapon Description] The Tear Gas Grenade is also self-explanatory. It releases
a large cloud of CS Tear Gas, which irritates the eyes, and respiratory system
of anyone caught within the cloud of Tear Gas.
[Weapon Description] The Claymore Mine is really only useful for campers on
Xbox Live, or System Link. That doesn't mean it can't cut a persons feet right
out from under them. The Claymore is also great for Snipers who need to cover
the entrance to their Sniper's Nests.
[Weapon Description] Essentially the same as a Frag Grenade, except with a
Remote Detonator. As with the Claymore Mine, it is more useful when used
on Xbox Live or System Link.
[Weapon Description] The Breaching Charge is great for Hostage rooms, and will
explosively remove any door, and effectively, anyone near the door, so turn on
your Thermal Goggles to make sure you don't see the image of someone on their
knees. If you do, don't blow the door, as that is the Hostage, and you may
kill him/her.
[Weapon Description] The Gas Mask is used to counter the effects of Tear Gas.
Adhere to this rule: If you bring any type of Tear Gas Grenade, bring along a
Gas Mask, as getting caught in the cloud will do you as much good as it will
the enemy caught within the cloud of Tear Gas.

No UNOFFICIAL Websites may use this FAQ. Do not bother to E-Mail
me asking to use this FAQ on your Website, unless you meet specific
requirements* as I WILL say NO! The reason behind this is the fact
that some people are too lazy to go to GameFAQs to get the latest
version of my FAQ, and when readers E-mail me, it causes problems.
For example, in one of my older FAQs, someone told me that my FAQ
was wrong about a certain topic, where as it had been corrected
about two months before, so I decided that I shouldn't let people
host my FAQs when they can't keep them updated. It's not my job to
send out a Zip file every time I update a FAQ, to two or three other
hosts.
