Before you email me, read the bottom section of this document.

This FAQ was created to help people compare the performance of cars in Sega GT
2002 (fully tuned). It doesn't tell you how to unlock anything, or where to
earn all of the parts. It's simply a list of the stats and test results of all
of the cars in my garage(s). This may seem pointless to some, but to others may
be very useful or just plain interesting. Some people have wondered, "Which is
faster, the RX-7, Supra, or Skyline?" or "Which Skyline is the best?". This FAQ
was created to give those people a sense of which car is
faster/better/lighter/has more torque ect... without having to buy them all,
tune them, and test them.

Melkor made an Access database version of this performance guide. I don't have
MS Access and therefore, can't see it, but if you have the ability to read .mdb
files and would like me to send you the file, please E-mail me.

Times recorded with TCS turned "on" and boost (where applicable) set to about
50%. This is what I consider a normal racing set up, rather than a drag racing
set up. I also used an automatic transmission for all tests; for the sake of
ease and consistency. Camber and suspension settings vary by car, but are
generally set to 50%. All cars have (and were tested using) the High Gear Set
and all of their parts in "blue" condition.

All cars have the best parts available to them, with a few exceptions (Racing
suspension instead of Original Tuned and Racing brakes instead of Super Racing)
on certain cars*

* Suspension- Racing or Original Tuned (for some cars I felt the Original Tuned
suspension was not needed)
* Muffler- Muffler 3 (neither of my game saves have muffler 4 unlocked)**
* Tuned Rom- Yes
* Gear Kit- High Gear Kit
* Brake- Racing or Super Racing (for some cars I felt the Super Racing brakes
were not needed)
* Port Polish- Yes
* Tire- Super Racing
* Weight Reduction- Step 4 (except on the cars that cannot have their weight
reduced)
* Intercooler- Super Racing (on turbo cars)
* Turbine 2, Turbine 3, NA 3- Depending on whether the car is a bolt-on turbo,
original turbo, or NA car.

** I beat the hatchback race in the first season on both of my game saves, thus
making it impossible for me to unlock the 4th muffler in the second season (by
beating the hatchback race). This means; for me to test every car with the 4th
muffler I would have to create a new game save, beat the game again,
re-buy/re-win every car on this list, re-tune it, and re-test it. This would
take many, many hours to do. For the 5-10 extra HP that the 4th muffler adds to
each car, I don't feel it's worth it. That 5-10 HP would barely change the cars
test numbers, and since all of my cars are tested with the 3rd muffler, what
little difference there would be, would be about the same for each car. Also,
since most people don't have the 4th muffler, this FAQ is more relevant without
it. The cars on this list are tuned using the parts that most people have
available.

Handling ratings are approximate, and based on my personal feelings and
opinions, not on any sort of test data. Your opinions may vary. Top speeds are
generally a ballpark figure, not the exact number. It's mainly based on what
top speed the car can reach on most straight-aways.

If you're wondering what 1/4 time a car can do with full boost and no TSC,
using the GT40 Concept as a template, take .600 seconds off my recorded 1/4
time. Take an additional .100 off for nitrous. This isn't a very scientific
method, but it'll give you an idea as to what the car can do.

All results can vary. Even parts in "blue" condition may not be at 100%. I
tested 0-60 by pressing "stop timer" on the test track. I'm only human, so the
times are as accurate as I could get. Use these stats only as something to go
off, they are not to be taken as fact. They are just *my* results with *my*
cars using *my* settings.

The cars are listed in order by make. Makers are listed in the same order as in
the Car Shop.

Key:

garage name: The name the car is listed as in the garage.

color: The color of my car. I mainly added this for my reference, it does not
effect performance.

real name: I'm not saying this is the "true" name of the car (such as it's
catalog name). I just added this to clear up confusion caused by the sometimes
vauge garage names. Also, I call the Honda NSX an Acura because in the US, it's
known as an Acura. I also call the Honda Integra Type-R a Honda RSX Type-S for
the same reason. It's just to help clear things up for us Americans that know
the cars by different names.

dis: Displacement. The volume of all of the cylinders added together, measured
from the piston head at the top and bottom of it's stroke.

hp: We all know what this is. Horsepower is what causes the engine to rev. In
other words, the more HP, the faster the car revs, and therefore accelerates
(compared to the same car with less HP).

torque: Torque is "turning force". It's the force that actually spins the
wheels, measured in lbs-ft.

weight: This is simply how much the car weights, measured in kg. 1 kg = 2.2
lbs.

dt: Drivetrain*
*FR= Front-engine, rear-wheel drive
*MR= Mid-engine, rear-wheel drive
*FF= Front-engine, front-wheel drive
*RR= Rear-engine, rear-wheel drive
*4WD= Four-wheel drive. In Sega GT 2002, some 4WD cars are actually AWD cars
(all-wheel drive). AWD transfers power to and from each wheel depending on how
much traction it has. 4WD only transfers power from front to back. 4WD cars are
listed with it's ratio. The first number is it's front/rear power ratio when
the main drive wheels start to spin. The second number is the front/rear power
ratio when the car has 100% traction**

**example: 50/50 - 5/95: When the rear wheels spin, the power is split evenly
between front and back. When the rear wheels aren't spinning, 95% of the power
goes to the rear wheels. With the Lancer (and possibly others), the main drive
wheels are the front wheels. And when they spin, extra power is sent to the
rear.

0-60: From a standstill to 60mph. Tested on the test track using the timer.

1/4 mile: From a stand-still to 1/4 mile from the starting point. Tested on the
drag race.

top: The general top speed the car can reach on most long straight-aways.

asp: Aspiration. NA= Naturally Aspirated. turbo (bolt-on)= Turbo Charged, Step
2, bolt-on turbo (started as an NA car). Turbo (step 3)= started with a turbo,
has step 3 turbine.

handling: The better the car sticks to the road, the less the tires
spin/squeal, the higher the cornering speed: the better the rating

sidenote: The GT90 doesn't appear to have great acceleration, especially for
having over 1000hp. In this case, the numbers don't tell the whole story. The
GT90 has the best 100-200mph acceleration of any car in the game. Once past
100mph, most cars lose their grunt. The GT90 however seems to have even more
grunt above 100mph than it does below 100mph.

Here are some lap times for comparison. These were all taken from the second
lap of a Quick Battle race on the Iron Circuit course. They are not my best
times, nor my average times. They are simply the times I got at the time of
testing. One shot, one number. No redos. No practicing. On another day, my
times might be much different.

Keep the following in mind:

-Results will vary from driver to driver. Different drivers are good with
different cars. I might be good with the Z06, but bad with the R34. So you
might get a better time with the R34 than you would with the Z06.

-All turbo cars have boost set to 50%. Some cars benefit greatly from turning
the boost up to 100%, while others only benefit slightly. For example, the R34
might rub off 2 seconds by turning the boost up to 100%, while the GT90 may
only rub off 1 second.

-Different cars do well on different tracks. Just because one car has a better
time on the Iron Circuit, doesn't mean it will have a better time on another
track. For example, a good handling car like the Exige might do much better on
a tighter, slower track, with more turns.

Listed from best to worst:

GT40 Concept- 1:15.537
Corvette Z06- 1:17.156
Caspita- 1:17.561
Exige- 1:17.863
Skyline R34- 1:19.082
Esprit 2002- 1:19.200
Viper GTS/R- 1:19.332
Elise 72- 1:19.506 sec
NSR Type R 2002- 19.702
GT90- 1:20.325
Speedster- 1:22.111 sec

You can email me with any questions about this FAQ or Sega GT in general, but
keep in mind, I don't check my email often, and I have tons of email to respond
to. Being an AOL user, I get a lot of junk mail, and since creating this FAQ,
I've been getting tons of questions about the game. So don't expect a quick
response as I have a lot of email to wade through, but I *WILL* respond, just
give me time. Also, if you ask me a question and find the answer before I
reply, send me an email letting me know. The less I have to type, the better.

If you want to use this FAQ on your own webpage, or post it (or portions of it)
on a message board, you have my permission to do so. Anyone can use this FAQ in
any way they want, as long as they:

-Don't distort or change my information/test results
-Give me credit as the author/tester

You don't have to ask my permission, but I would like a heads-up email letting
me know where you have posted it, just so I can keep track of where my FAQ is.

Also, be on the lookout for updates. The only sites that I personally submit my
FAQ (and it's updates) to are GameFAQs, IGN and my personal site
(www.customconsole.net). So if you post my FAQ on your site, you must also
check for updates at one of those three sites, and upload the updates as you
find them.

This will most likely be the last version of this FAQ. I have every car that I
want, and have no plans to buy and test any others. With time, I may be adding
a few cars here and there, making some corrections, and might eventually even
try to get every car in the game. But for now, this is the final version of
this FAQ.
