Email Policy
------------
If you are going to e-mail me about RollerCoaster Tycoon, please Make it clear
that it is about RollerCoaster Tycoon (i.e. Put RollerCoaster Tycoon in the
subject). Please DO NOT e-mail me asking something that is already answered on
the Frequently Asked Questions section of this FAQ/Walkthrough, if you do, it
will probably, no, it WILL be deleted. It will also be deleted if you ask me if
I know any secret codes or something, because any cheats, etc. will be on this
FAQ/Walkthrough. Also if you see a mistake, please let me know.
Thank You!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a weird glitch in RollerCoaster Tycoon, at Daylight Savings Time, all
of your saves games will still be there, but the scenario progress will be lost,
you can download the patch for it at www.rollercoastertycoon.com
So, what is RollerCoaster Tycoon: Corkscrew Follies?
RollerCoaster Tycoon: Corkscrew Follies is an add-on to RollerCoaster Tycoon,
it's like an expansion pack. RollerCoaster Tycoon: Corkscrew Follies features a
lot of new scenarios, new rides/attractions, new scenery, and more. It is a
really good add-on, and I think it is about $20.00, at least it was when I got
it.
NOTE: To play RollerCoaster Tycoon: Corkscrew Follies, you have to have the
Original TollerCoaster Tycoon.

IV. Scenery/Theming
================================================================================
Scenery and Theming makes your park a little better, and more detailed. If you
have a lot of scenery, you can get the most beautiful park in the country award
(see section 5 for more on the award).
*'s around types of scenery/theming indicate that scenery/theming is for RCT:
Corkscrew Follies/Add-On only.
Trees
-----
This scenery section has a lot of trees to choose from to put in your park,
there are so many different ones, there are two really tall ones that are pretty
neat.
Shrubs and Bushes
-----------------
There are a few different types of bushes and shrubs in this scenery section,
there are also some neat carved/shaped trees that are in the shapes of dogs,
squirrels, clubs, hearts, spades, diamonds etc.
Tropical and Desert Trees
-------------------------
This section has most of your dryer desert plants, such as cactus, palm trees,
and there are also other trees, but this section doesn't have that much to
choose from.
Gardens
-------
This section has quite a few flowers, surrounded by small walls. If you have
the Corkscrew Follies add-on, there are connected gardens with the walls, and
flowers that you can plant in the ground alone, you can also get a garden clock
with the Corkscrew Follies add-on.
Lamps, Litter Bins, Benches, etc. for paths
-------------------------------------------
Benches, lights, and garbage cans are in this section, you can also get jumping
fountains, which are really neat, they should be able to water the gardens, but
they don't. If you have the Corkscrew Follies add-on, you can also get
banners/signs.
Walls and Fences
----------------
There are a lot of different walls and fences in this section, there are steel
fences, wire fences, brick walls, bush walls, and again, if you have the
Corkscrew Follies add-on, there is a playing card wall, which is pretty neat
too.
Statues and Fountains
---------------------
There are statues of horses, and a dolphin statue in this section, as well as
and elephant fountain, a dolphin fountain, a geometric fountain, and a cupid
fountain as well.
Egyptian Theming
----------------
This scenery contains Egyptian pyramids, walls, monuments, there is also a
Sphinx, a new lamp, and another banner/sign.
Wonderland Theming
------------------
In this section there are a lot of really neat things, there is a pumpkin house,
candy trees, different sized mushrooms, Chess pieces (Pawns, Castles, horses,
Kings, Queens, and Bishops), and there are also card walls.
Abstract Theming
----------------
There are glass, transparent things in this section, there are geometic
sculptures, and there are also glass walls. The guests can't commit vandalism
by breaking the walls, but that would be pretty neat though.
Martian Theming
---------------
This scenery is stuff that looks like it would be from space, there is a
volcano, there are martian buildings, there are a few more lamps, and another
wall.
Mine Theming
------------
In this section there are things that look like stuff from the old western days,
there are mine huts, shafts, wheels, barrels, logs, etc.
*Spooky Theming*
---------------
Trees with no leaves, tombstones, a skeleton, etc. pretty good things to put in
front of a haunted house.
*Classical/Roman Theming*
-------------------------
In this section there are things that you would probably see in Rome, column
walls, temples, a collesium, more statues, there is also a new fancy banner/sign
held up by two Roman columns.
*Jungle Theming*
----------------
This scenery might make your guest think they are in Tarzan or The Jungle Book
(again, this is just pretending), there are bushes with big leaves, trees with
big leaves, and yet, another banner/sign.
*Jurrasic Theming*
------------------
This scenery will make guests think that they have gone back in time (well, not
really, but we can pretend) or a Jurrasic Park movie, there are Dinosaurs,
fossils, some new fences, and another new banner/sign that is held up by two
dinosaur fossils.

V. Awards
================================================================================
In RollerCoaster Tycoon, you can get awards for having a great park, or a crappy
park, yep you can get AWARDS for having a crappy park, crappy awards that is.
Most of the awards are self explanatory, but here they are anyway.
Tidyest Park in the Country award-Guests think your park is clean and tidy,
there aren't many messes, and it is nice and clean, to keep the guests thinking
that, maintain the cleanliness, and keep the handymen going.
Untidyest Park in the Country award-You have got a lot of litter, and disgusting
paths, hire some more handymen, and watch for messy paths.in the Country award-
You haven't had any ride crashes, or people dieing for quite a while, and all of
the rides are safe.
Best Value Park in the Country award-Guests think your rides and food prices are
reasonable, and good value, don't raise the prices too much, or you will get the
worst value park in the country award.
Worst Value Park in the Country award-Your prices for rides and food are too
high, you need to lower the prices, and then maybe you will get the best value
park in the country award.
Most Beautiful Park in the Country award-Your park is very scenic and a lot of
people think it is beautiful, in Evergreen Gardens, chances are you'll get one
of these if you keep the scenery there.
Best Roller Coasters in the Country award-Your park has a lot of good, Intense,
and exciting Roller Coasters.

================================================================================
VI. Park Maintenance
================================================================================
Cleanliness
-----------
One of the ways to keep guests coming to your park, and being happy, is to have
a clean and tidy park. To prevent a lot of litter put trash cans about every 15
spaces away. To keep so many guests from throwing up, build a few benches at
the end of high nausea rated, and intense rides, so your guests can recover.
Handymen: The handymen are the guys that have to keep the park clean. They have
to sweep the litter and barf off of the footpaths, water gardens, empty the
trash cans, and mow the grass if you have grass in your park, another way to
sort of mow the grass is to click on the raise or lower land icon, and just
click on the grass, and, presto, instamowed lawn.
Cost: $35 per month
Safety and Repairs
------------------
In your park there will be a lot of times when rides break down, and need to be
fixed, if a ride breaks down a lot, you might want to consider replacing it, or
have it inspected more often.
Mechanics: The mechanics have to walk around your park and Inspect rides, as
well as fix rides when they are broken down, if a echanic can't get to the
broken down ride quick enough, before you get a complaint, you could put route
markers next to an exit of a ride to keep a mechanic there.
Cost: $55 per month
Security
--------
Another way to keep guests happy is to not have a lot of vandalism. The things
that can be vandalised are benches, lamps, and trash cans. If there is a lot of
vandalism in your park, guests will complain about it and not be that happy. If
you see something vandalised, replace it with another one of whatever was
vandalised.
Security Guards: The security guards walk around in the park and make sure there
is no vandalism being commited, vandals don't get caught by security guards, and
get arrested (wouldn't that be neat though), they just don't commit vandalism
when a security guard is around.
Cost: $45 per month
Entertainment
-------------
Another way to keep your guests happy is to have good entertainment. If you
have entertainment, it will not only make guests happier, it will also draw
people to places, such as rides.
Entertainers: The entertainers are the guys that have to walk around in those
hot, sweaty suits all day, and entertain the guests in your park. In
RollerCoaster Tycoon, there is a panda bear, an elephant, a tiger, a Roman, and
a Gorilla Costume that the entertainers dress in. The entertainers will attract
guests to places, like if you put an entertainer in a queue line, it will draw
guests onto that ride.
Cost: $40 per month
Guest Boxes
-----------
In RollerCoaster Tycoon, you can check each guests happyness, hunger, thirst,
nausea tollerance, how much money they have spent, and more, by clicking on
them.
If you click on the tab with a face expressing the guests fellings on it you can
check guests...
-Happyness meter: This meter shows how happy a guest is, if it is really high,
the guest is very happy, if it is really low, the guest is mad, and you should
check to see what they are complaining about.
-Energy meter: This meter shows how much energy a guest has, if it is really
high the guest has a lot of energy, and walks really fast, if it is really low
the guest doesn't have a lot of energy, and their eyes will be half way closed.
-Hunger meter: This meter will show how hungry a guest is, if it is really high
the guest is really hungry, if it is really low, then the guest isn't hungry.
-Thirst meter: This meter will show how thirsty a guest is, if it is really high
the guest is really thirsty, if it is really low, then the guest isn't thirsty.
-Nausea meter: This meter will show if the guest is sick/nausious or not, if it
is really high, then the guest is very sick, and will have a green face, if it
is high enough, you can see the guest swishing the barf in his mouth (wonderful
thought isn't it), if it is low then the guest is just fine.
-Bathroom meter: This mater will show wheather the guest needs to go to the
bathroom or not, if it is really high the guest needs to go to the bathroom, if
it is really low, then the guest doesn't really need to go to the bathroom.
-Preferred Ride: This will show what kind of ride the guest preferrs, it will
show the intensity, and the nausea tollerance of the guest.
If you click on the icon that looks like a printed paper you can see information
about the guest...
-Rides been on: This will show how many rides the guest has been on, it's pretty
self explanatory, like almost everything else.
-Items eatem: This will show how much the guest has eaten.

$--.-- spent on food/drinks: This shows how much money the guest has spent on
food and drinks.
$--.-- spent on souvenirs: This shows how much money the guest has spent on park
maps, umbrellas, balloons, etc.
If you click on the icon with the thought bubble you can see the guests...
-Recent Thoughs, there might be good comments, or complaints.
If you click on the icon with the guest sticking his hand out you can see the
guests...
-Carrying: This will show you what the guest is carrying, there could be
food/drinks, an umbrella, a balloon, a park map etc.

================================================================================
VIII. General Tips
================================================================================
In this section, there are a few general tips about RollerCoaster Tycoon.
-If guests are getting lost in your park, make sure there are no dead-ends, or
large paved areas. Another tip is to build a one or two more Information
Kiosks.
-If you have rides with high nausea ratings, build a few benches near the exit
so people can recover if they are sick, you might want to also consider building
a bathroom near a high-nausea rated ride.
-If you have rides that break down a lot, reduce the amount of time between
inspections (i.e. if your inspection time is every 2 hours, make it every hour,
and so on).
-If you get complaints about your park being too crowded, make the paths a
little bit larger paves, but don't make them too large, or else guests will get
lost.
-To make roller coasters a little more exciting, put trees near the ride, or
make it do a corkscrew over water, also you could make a suspended roller
coaster go over water.
-Build benches about every 10-15 squares, so guests can sit anywhere around the
park, or if it's near a ride exit that was really intense.
================================================================================
================================================================================
IX. Cheats
================================================================================
These arent rally cheats, because you don't cheat, they are names to name
guests, and have them do something different than others.
-Name a guest Chris Sawyer, he will take pictures around your park.
-Name a guest Simon Foster, he will paint around your park (not on walls, but on
his own canvus).
-Name a guest John Wardley, whenever he sees a ride he will think "WOW".
-Name a guest John Mace, he will pay double to go on rides.
-Name a guest Melanie Warn, she will always be happy.
-Name a guest Katie Brayshaw, she will wave to other guests.
-Name a guest Tony Day, he will always be hungry.
-Name a guest Damon Hill, he will be speedy on the Go Karts.
-Name a guest Michael Schumacher, he will also be speedy on the Go Karts.
