i. Introduction

The game opens up with a video of Ryan Mckane's dad racing about on an oval.
He wins but James Randall Fishtails him and his car spins, rolls and blows up.
Then you see Ryan and Ronnie Mckane looking on in horror. Then it cuts to 15
years later when Ronnie is offered a job for ABG Motorsport. He suggests his
`kid brother' Ryan. And so it starts.........

Driving Techniques
The handling on this game is very different to, say, GT3, and it takes a bit
of time geting used to. However, if you've played Toca 2, then the handling
won't be that new to you. Here are a couple of things to remember when driving:

a) Brakes Lock! To achieve maximum deceleration you must lock the brakes, but
don't try this until you know what you are doing. This is because it has to be
timed exactly right. If you brake to early, then the other drivers will gain on
you/pull away from you depending where they are. If you brake to late then you
will either come off or hit the car in front, causing damage. If you are out
braking, however, then you will need to brake ever so slightly later than the
driver in front does so you approach the corner faster and overtake.

b) Drivers Fight Back! If you hit a driver the games A.I. will retaliate, and
occasionally, usually in the first couple of championships (where you will cause
most damage), they will come up after the race in a cutscene and tell you what
they think, so to speak.

c) Cars get damaged! This isn't GT3. When you hit a wall you won't just go from
200mph to 0 in a short amount of time. This damage is serious. Gearboxes crunch,
wheels are ripped off completely or just to the rim. This element of damage,
however can be one of the most fun things in the game. You can take a car in a
free race, do a test-drive, and wreck it.

d) Mandatory Pit Stops! These are the races where you will get a lead if you
don't pit until lap 4. It's hit or miss if you keep the lead till lap 4 though.
If you are a good driver then you will keep it no problem. If you aren't so good
then it is advisable to pit in a lap after they do. If you choose not to pit
then you will be disqualified and receive 0 points

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
ii. Starting Out

When you first get into the game you must create a new user. You do this on
the PC on the desk. I use the default nickname but you can call yourself
whatever you feel like. After you've done this if you check your e-mail then
there should be a BTCC/Toca message offering you the chance to test drive a
Lexus IS200 Touring car around Brands Hatch Indy. Don't worry, you'll pass this
easily, but if you don't on the first time look at the tracks section for help.
After you've passed this you can race for the team for 1 season.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
iii. Championships
These are the championships in the order that I completed them. MP= Mandatory
Pits

Supersports

Toca Touring cars
In my opinion this is the best championship and I wish they would have
included all the Touring cars and the Production class cars (licenses, don't you
just hate 'em). Anyway, you start out with the IS200, which oversteers a bit too
much, so you may have a bit of trouble keeping up with the Alfas and Astras.
It's quite a short championship, compared with the others later on, as are all
the Supersports championships. I recommend at least 5 laps of test driving
before you start a race. Try to memorize every corner and what gear you should
take it in, not the exact speed (that would be too hard). Some drivers will
whizz through this championship, but others may struggle. I struggled a bit with
the Lex, but after I got used to it I was fine.
Here are the tracks for this championship:
Brands Hatch Indy
Oulton Park
Silverstone
Donnington (MP)
Knockhill
Brands Hatch GP
Tips: After you've completed this championship and are confident enough, take
the JSM Alfa 147 and do the championship again to pick up any points you may
have missed with the tail-happy Lexus. Expect around 20-40 points on your first
go. Don't forget to pit at Donnington or you'll get disqualified.

Alfa GTV Cup
This championship will sort out the best drivers for sure. You really will
have to practice so you know the tracks because if you don't there will be some
nasty surprises (especially around Monza!) and the other drivers will be ready
for them. I recommend using Manual Transmission, as it will help you know which
gear you're taking a corner in and it also makes it a bit more challenging. Here
are the tracks for this championship:
Monza
Vallelunga (MP)
Catalunya
Monza
Catalunya
Vallelunga
Tips: You should pick up about 40-50 points here if you are doing well as a
driver.

Pacific Challenge
I signed up for the Psianic HiFi team for this championship, but any Subaru
team is recommended, as they're great off the line. These courses will be new to
you so, as always, Test-drives are recommended. Watch for the Toyota Chasers, as
they will catch up on the straights if you don't get enough exit speed out of a
corner, usually due to powersliding. Leave this stunt to wow your mates in the
time trials and free races for a laugh, as it won't do you any favours in
competition. The tracks for this championship are as follows:
Fuji
TI Circuit AIDA
Bathurst
TI Circuit AIDA
Bathurst
Fuji
Tips: Be careful around Bathurst because it is very easy to damage your car
severely (as I did). Try and avoid heavy engine and gearbox damage especially as
it will severely limit your car's performance.

Super Sports

DTM
You'll get an offer from the Holtzer team to drive an Astra DTM around
Hockenheim short, it's great fun and they're so much faster than whatever you've
driven before. These are high power rear wheel drive cars so you need to watch
for wheelspin out of corners. To avoid this, gently let out the throttle by
gently pushing down on the accelerator button so the throttle meter (below the
speedo and odometer) goes to about half a centimeter. This will shake so don't
worry about being exact, then slowly increase the pressure so the wheels don't
spin. If the wheels do spin then keep the pressure you are putting on the button
constant until the wheels stop spinning, which shouldn't take more than a few
seconds. Anyway, here are the tracks:
Hockenheim short
Nurburgring Long
Oschersleben
Norisring (MP)
Zandvoort
Hockenheim long
Tips: Watch out for the chicanes on Hockenheim long, it's like Monza only you'll
be approaching these corner at 170-180 MPH so Test Drives are advisable

V8 Supercars
Lets get one thing clear, these cars are BEASTS! They have 750ishBHP and rear
wheel drive. These aren't for the under prepared. I didn't win this series for 3
seasons but if you keep practicing you will win. You won't win this championship
in the Holden Commodore unless you are a VERY good driver, it's just not as fast
as the Ford Falcon. And these are worse than the DTM cars for spinning, if
there's been an accident, slow down! There will almost certainly be a few cars
spun out and driving onto the track from the grass. Also, there is no way you
can launch these cars like the computer does, so try to swerve in front of
someone behind you who is going faster than you are. So, the tracks:
Philip island
Adelaide
Eastern Creek
Canberra
Bathurst
Sandown
Tips: Bathurst will be WAY worse than it was on the Pacific Challenge, because
these cars take a hell of a lot of stopping!

European Tour
The Elise is probably the best car to do this in but I did it in the Chevy
Vette cos it was the first one available. This isn't too challenging as long as
you keep cool and know what speed to take the corners at Rockingham Oval at. All
the cars here are rear wheel drive so there will be a lot of spinning at
accidents and wheelspinning out of corners. Take care, though, and this
championship is yours! Now for the tracks:
Rockingham Oval
A1 Ring
Rockingham Road
Brands Hatch Indy
Rockingham Oval
Catalunya
Tips: Anyone who has seen the Austrian Grand prix or follows F1 will know the A1
Ring. All of these are very fast tracks, especially Rockingham Oval and the A1
Ring.

American All Stars
These cars, or more precisely, this one car is horrible to drive. It is very
unforgiving to drive. If you got to this championship by cheating or by luck
this car will eat you alive. It's extremely powerful and thank God that the
majority of races are rolling starts. Speaking of races, Here are the tracks:
Charlotte
Bristol Speedway
Sears Point (MP)
Charlotte
Bristol Speedway
Tips: Bristol Speedway is probably the easiest to race as you jus leave it in
second, accelerate up the short straight, Brake a bit, freewheel around the
corner then stomp on the power about 3/4 of the way around the corner. Simple.

LOLA
This is it (or so it seems). The pinnacle of racing. If you win this you will
become the world champion. The cars used are typical GT cars that you might see
in the LeMans, FIA GT, or JGTC Races. You'll have to use the Supra first time
and I completed it first time. No advice needed if you've got this far, just the
tracks:
Brands Hatch GP
Fuji
Monza
Bathurst
A1 Ring
Bristol Speed way
Nurburgring Long
Tips: These cars accelerate extremely fast, so you might find yourself arriving
at the first corner faster than you expect.

v. Tracks

There are tracks in TRD and they are all challenging in their own way. Here is a
list with a "drive-through" guide.

Brands Hatch Indy
Location: England
Car used: Egg Sport Astra BTCC
Time: 0:42.03
Guide: 1st Corner: Brake lightly down to 5th gear at the 50 m mark and keep the
revs at about 8/9000 rpm, then nail it after the crest.
2nd Corner: Brake Harshly at the 75 m mark down to 3rd gear and 7000rpm,
then back on the power at the apex.
3rd Corner: Let off the power at the 50 m mark so you're in 4th and
7000rpm, then get straight back on it after you clip the left rumble strip.
4th Corner: Keep on the power for this slight left hander, but as soon as
you are over the crest brake hard for the 5th corner...
5th Corner: Brake hard for this right, down to 4th (you should be in 5th
after the 4th Corner).

vi. Cheats

The money grabbing assholes at Codemasters want us to ring a premium rate number
to get the best cheats. However some codes (2 actually), are universal.

SIM    = Realistic Handling
DAMAGE = Realistic Damage

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
vii. Cool stuff

As of yet, there isn't anything that I have found to be a special trick apart
from causing damage to your car. On Bathurst after the blind hairpin right (the
one with the blue fence), you can ramp up the side of the hill and flip, roll
and cause major damage to your ride. Try it on a test drive in the V8 Series.
And also on Bathurst is a long straight after the first corner. Keep to the
right and on the power and try and slam into the little setback in the outside
fence. See how may times that you can flip your car!

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
viii. Legal Stuff

Basically, Don't copy in anyway what you see here without asking me first. If
you ask me, I will probably say yes as long as you're not going to diss it. This
FAQ may also only be seen at GmeFAQS.com. If I see it anywhere else I will sue
your ass for every penny, got it? Good.

ix. Credits

As of yet no one else but me has contributed to this FAQ. But I will thank
Codemasters, even though they are sly, for making a great game and taking the
time to make sure that it is perfect. And I thank SONY for making the incredible
system to run it on.

That is all, END OF FAQ
