What is Phantom Dust? (00100)
============================================================================
This game is truly one of a kind. I generally describe this game to be
somewhat of an action-strategy-3rd person shooter. The story sets you up
in a post-apocalyptic world full of this strange dust. You soon learn that
this dust can be manipulated by a person's will in the form of attacks,
defenses, and other magic-like abilities.

General Information:
--------------------
You get missions by talking to various people in the Visions' Underground
Headquarters. Once you get a mission, you are transported to a 'STAGE'--
an area above-ground where the battle takes place. All battles are limited
to 15 minutes in the single player missions because the Dust will make
humans forget everything (that's why they now live underground).
In Chapters 1 and 2, 'SKILLS' are provided for you. Walk over a skill,
press a button (A,B,X,Y) to 'MAP' it to that button and press again
to use the skill. In Chapter 3, you will be able to create 'ARSENALS' to
use throughout the rest of the game.
An arsenal is a pack of 30 skills that you bring to a battle. You choose
the skills that go into the arsenal (the strategy element of the game).
You collect and purchase skills thoughout the single player missions which
allow you to manipulate your arsenal to make it more effective as new skills
become available to you.
There is a catch. You need 'AURA' to use skills. To get aura, you must
walk over a white 'AURA PARTICLE', map it to a button, and press again to
raise your 'LEVEL'. Your 'LEVEL' represents how much aura you can
regenerate while using skills during a mission. Most arsenals usually have
about 15 aura particles with room for 15 other skills.
During a mission, your skills will show up randomly as a glowing ball near
your 'SPAWN POINT'. Only three skills will show up at a time, but as you
pick them up, another random skill from your arsenal will show up about 15
seconds later.
Once you have enough aura to use your skills, you can lock-on to your
opponent and begin attacking. In the single player missions, you will
usually face no more than two opponents at a time.
Tips:
------
<> Learn to defend attacks. This will help you during both single player and
multiplayer matches.
<> Don't buy a lot of arsenals at first. You want to use the credits you've
earned to collect more skills.
<> Buy 'JUNK' often when given the chance because it will add more variety
to your arsenal. Save buying specific skills and extra arsenals until the
latter half of the single player mission when you are a) acquiring all 300
skills or b) beefing up arsenals with a specific skill.
<> It is very important to learn the information about each skill you use.
The more you know about the skill, the more effective you can use it.
Pressing the D-Pad will give you skill information on the skills mapped to
your buttons. The game will not stop while you do this but you can pause the
game at any time during the single player missions to take your time reading
the skill information.
<>As the countdown begins just before a match, press the BACK button to get
new skills mapped to your buttons. Do this when you don't have any aura or
just one aura. This usually helps you out so you don't have map over any
skills but sometimes it doesn't work in your favor.
<>Reading the memory boxes will help you understand the game better. Most
of the boxes will describe a variety of aspects of this game. Read them
from time to time--especially if you having difficuty winning a mission.
This is a list of the characters you will interact with during the game.
Some of them will offer missions at various times during the game and some
of them can be chosen as partners for missions. If a character can be
chosen as a partner, I have tried to include some information about the
skills they use and how effective they are in battle. There are minor
*SPOILERS* ahead. If you play on Live, I have included the character's form
of dodge. A character will either jump, cartwheel or roll, when you click
the left thumbstick.

I assigned each mission a number. This is the order in which I completed the
single player missions for this walkthrough. There are a total of 114
missions.
Since the first two chapters use arsenals already created for you, I
have included some of the skills you will be using to win the match. After
Ch. 3 you get the opportunity to create your own arsenals. I have provided
a basic beginning arsenal as well as specific arsenals for boss battles in
the walkthrough. For more on arsenals, check out the *ARSENAL CREATION*
section of the guide.
**Note: There are a variety of strategies to complete each mission. I *may*
list alternative strategies for some of the more important battles
but at least the information I have provided will help you to
complete each mission.
**Note: All skill information will be listed in the *SKILL INFORMATION*
section of this guide. For specific skills, you can enter the three
digit number of the skill using crtl+f.
*Opening Cinematic -- explains the world of Phantom Dust, and how you and
Edgar were found.
CHAPTER 1: Man with Amnesia (00610)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*You wake up in the Clinic. Edgar says he doesn't remember but talk to him
twice to open the door. You will make your way to the Visions HQ and talk
with Spokesman. He will ask you name you prefer.
Possible Names:
Alpha Ice
Age Key
Gin Glen
Cruz Lo
Air Duke
Beard Silver
Green Nanashi
If you don't choose one, they will give you Nanashi, which I've been told,
means 'No Name' in Japanese.
*Explore the Underground first. Make sure you get an idea of where the
characters are so you will have an easier time trying to find them later.
*Make your way to Meister in the Battle Terminal. He will tell you to talk
with Tetsuya
*Talk to Tetsuya (near Meister in the Battle Terminal)

Stage: Highway
Partner: Meister
Objective: Win the Battle
Opponent(s): Vestio (20hp)
Skills: Flash Barrier, Bullet of Fire, Wall, Wall of Fire, About Face,
Psycho Spear
Strategy: This mission introduces Fire of Gehenna, a Faith school attack
that hurts the user 2hp for every use. Use your defenses to
block or send back the Fire of Gehenna. If it breaks your
defenses, follow up with a Psycho Spear and/or Bullet of Fire.
Win: 500 credits, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
6. Close-Proximity Attack Battles
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Meister
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Anthro (20hp)

and knocks you down. Get close, avoid his attack by running to
the side or defending, and attack with Bullet of Fire.

Objective: Win Cuff Button's Approval; Rescue Tsubutaki
Opponent(s): Vestio (15hp)
Skills: Blaster, Splashdown, Psycho Spear, Wall, Wall of Fire
Strategy: First, get your skills and then search for Tsubutaki. From
your 'SPAWN POINT', go to the bottom floor. Enter through
either doorway. Her body is located in the back near the right
side doorway to the stairwell. You must walk over her body,
push one of your empty buttons to 'pick her up.' Then press
that button again to fully bring her back. (Note: You can do
the same thing if your partner dies during a mission.)
Once you've revived Tsubutaki, take out Vestio with a short-
range attack. He should have low health from Cuff Button's
attacks. Be wary of Vestio's Bomb Shot attack because even if
it misses you, it still explodes and may cause you damage if
you're standing near a wall.
Win: 500 credits, memory box
*Talk to Meister
*Talk to Tetsuya
10. Qualification Exam (Ch. 1 Boss Battle) (00615)

Stage: Palace
Partner: --
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Friea (20hp)
Skills: About Face, Splashdown, Wall of Fire, Blaster
Strategy: As you build up skills, hide behind the tree. When your ready,
get within mid-range to avoid her laser attacks. Block
anything she attacks with, then hit her with Blaster. When she
teleports to your spawn point, hit her with Splashdown. If you
get her health <10, she leaves. End of battle.
Win: 500 credits, memory box
CHAPTER 2: Illusion of a Woman (00620)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Talk with Ubiquitous (Lab near Know)
*Talk with Edgar (Battle Terminal)

Stage: Palace
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Anthro (20hp)
Skills: Piece of Fire, Splashdown, Wall of Fire, Bullet of Fire,
Laser, Wall
Strategy: Enemy will use Bullet of Fire to attack. But the enemy won't
attack very often because Edgar's Ice Lance attack will freeze
Anthro's buttons. When Anthro's buttons are frozen, hit him
with a short-range attack.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk with Ubiquitous
12. Float
Stage: Highway
Partner: Edgar

Opponent(s): Scoto (15hp), Anthro (20hp)
Skills: 2x Levitate, Piece of Ice, Laser, Piece of Fire, Dash, Bullet
of Fire, Flash Barrier, Splashdown, Vacuum Slash
Strategy: Use Levitate and Dash at least once during this match to meet

to focus on Scoto. Scoto will use Bullet of Fire so defend,
then attack.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Ubiquitous again
13. Status Skills
Stage: Palace
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Win Battle; Use Status Skill
Opponent(s): Vestio (20hp)
Skills: Bullet of Fire, Heat, Levitate, Piece of Ice, Piece of Fire,
Flash Barrier
Strategy: The enemy will focus on attacking Edgar first. Use Heat (+1
damage, -2 aura recovery) to complete the second objective and
begin attacking Vestio.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
14. Continue: Status Skills
Stage: Palace
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Investigate Status Skills
Opponent(s): Scoto (15hp), Anthro (20hp)
Skills: Bullet of Fire, Wall, Flash Barrier, Angel Tears, Heat,
Neutralization, Piece of Ice, About Face, Piece of Fire
Strategy: Scoto uses Burden--a skill that will slow you down (-2 speed)
for each time it hits you. Block this with any type of
defense. Use Angel Tears to rid yourself of the awful slowness
if you do get hit. Use Heat and begin attacking Scoto. Once
Scoto is down, focus on Anthro. Use Neutralization on him then
take him out.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
15. New Skill Researcher
Stage: Highway
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Investigate Attack Skill
Opponent(s): Scoto (15hp), Anthro (20hp)
Skills: Piece of Ice, Wall, Photon Wave, Bomb, Crawlers
Strategy: This mission will introduce you to new skills. Edgar will take
down Anthro so you only need to focus on Scoto. Defend Scoto's
attacks with Wall, then attack back. Use Photon Wave if you
are next to Scoto. At mid-range, use Piece of Ice then follow
up with Bomb/Crawlers until Scoto is out.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
16. Defense is the Key
Stage: Highway
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Research Defensive Skills
Opponent(s): Scoto (15hp), Vestio (20hp)
Skills: About Face, Learning, 2x Reflect Barrier, Flash Barrier, Wall
Strategy: Go after Anthro first. Use Learning when it attacks you
to learn either Bullet of Fire or Blaster. After learning the
attack skill, use Reflect Barrier and About Face to hurt him.
Once Anthro is out, pick up another Reflect Barrier and attack
Scoto.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
17. Powers That Erase
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Sammah
Objective: Support Sammah
Opponent(s): Catoptro (20hp)
Skills: Flash Barrier, Splashdown, Bullet of Fire, Piece of Fire,
Blaster, Wall
Strategy: Catoptro will throw Tiger Slayers (erases attack skill) at
you. Defend then attack. Don't get too close because Catoptro
will have a Photon Wave ready to damage you. Sammah will erase
the enemy's defenses but you don't need his help to take out
this enemy.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
18. Registration List
Stage: Highway
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Support Edgar
Opponent(s): Vestio (20hp)
Skills: Piece of Ice, Flash Barrier, Dash, Splashdown, Piece of Fire,
Bullet of Fire, Flash Barrier
Strategy: Edgar doesn't really help you in this mission. Vestio uses
Bomb Shot at mid-range. Use your dash to get out of the way,
or use your defenses if necessary (your shield will break).
Hit Vestio with Piece of Ice and then hit him with Splashdown.
If you get close to the enemy, he will use a Psycho Knife.
Use your defense to avoid taking damage and follow with an
attack.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
19. Continue: Erase Skills
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Sammah
Objective: Investigate Erase Skills
Opponent(s): Vestio (20hp)
Skills: 6x Dragon Slayer, 6x Tiger Slayer, 4x Flash Barrier, 3x Lack
Strategy: You do not get any attack skills during this mission. You will
have to use your erase and defense skills until Sammah takes
Vestio out. You get to help Sammah though, by erasing Vestio's
skills. Dragon Slayers penetrate and erase one defensive
skill. Tiger Slayers erase one attack skill and Lack erases
all of the opponent's unlimited use skills mapped to the
buttons.
Use the Dragon Slayer first to erase the sheild. Follow up by
throwing a Lack or Tiger Slayer. Dodge enemy's Bomb Shot
attacks but watch out for the explosions when it hits the
wall. If Vestio gets close, defend against his Psycho Knife.
Continue until Sammah kills Vestio.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Know (Main Terminal, near entrance to Lab)
20. Come Hither Strong One
Stage: Palace
Partner: --
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Know (20hp)
Skills: Bullet of Fire, Splashdown, Flash Barrier, Heat, Piece of Ice,
Piece of Fire
Strategy: Defend against Know's first few attacks. If they hit you, they
will lower your level by one. Attack with Splashdown and
Bullet of Fire. Keep blocking Know's erase skills. Go back to
spawn to get Heat. Continue defending and attacking until
Know is out.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Mikan (Clinic, in lower level of Atrium)
21. Recipe for Recovery
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Anthro (20hp), Vestio (20hp)
Skills: Vacuum Slash, Bomb, About Face, Flash Barrier, Photon Wave,
Laser, Heat
Strategy: Focus on Anthro first. Overwrite Laser because you can't use
it very well in Panorama (Laser is a long-range attack). Don't
use Bomb inside the building because it hits the ceiling.
Photon Wave is the best attack to take out both enemies. You
may accidentally hurt Edgar with Photon Wave but he will live.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
22. Abundance of Memory (Ch. 2 Boss Battle) (00625)
Cinematic of Edgar leaving and Friea showing. She doesn't want you to hurt
'him again so she conjurs an enemy for you to battle.
Stage: Highway
Partner: --
Objective: Investigate Highway
Opponent(s): Peccato-'Side Eyes'(20hp), Peccato-'Top Eye'(20hp)
Skills: Bomb, Psycho Spear, Laser Shell, Levitate, Laser, Flash
Barrier, Heat
Strategy: Peccato will always move counter-clockwise around Highway in a
set pattern, with a brief trip up the far steps in front of
your spawn. It will fire Rapid Cannon while on these stairs
and fire them again when it circles around to your left. To
avoid the Rapid Cannon, hide on the stairs on the right, near
your spawn. Sometimes, when Peccato goes under your spawn, it
will fire a Bomb at you.
Take out the 'Side Eyes' first. You can target either 'Side
Eye' to damage both of them. Damaging the 'Side Eyes' is
slightly tricky since they are protected by its shell. Use
Laser on the 'Side Eyes' at a distance. Usually you can get a
few hits in as it travels under the highway across from your
spawn. When Peccato is in mid-range, sometimes Bomb will cause
damage to the 'Side Eyes'. Bullet of Fire and Blaster work
well on the side eyes as it goes around the stairs by your
spawn.
Once the 'Side Eyes' are out of commission, Peccato's
protective shield will go down, and you can freely attack it's
'Top Eye'--Bomb at mid-range and Laser at long-range. Be
careful though because Peccato's attacks change once the 'Side
Eyes' are gone. It will still use Rapid Cannon but when it's
at a distance, it will use Photon Shower. To avoid the
Photon Shower, run one direction on the stairs until it stops.
Peccato's most damaging attack though is its multiple red
balls of energy. These energy balls will go through obstacles.
It usually uses this attack at the far end of the stage and
again when it is near your spawn. Use the Laser Shell to
defend against this attack. Continue attacking with your Laser
and Bomb until Peccato is dead.
Win: 600 credits, memory box
CHAPTER 3: Chained by the Past (00630)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*You get to create an arsenal!
*Talk with Ubiquitous
Cinematic of Meister and Ubiquitous explaining the concept of arsenals.
*Talk to Mac (Mac's Shop, next to Know in Main Terminal)
- Pick one of three different types of arsenals: Near, Mid, Long.
- There is a tutorial on the lab, arsenals, schools, and skills.
- After the tutorial finishes, purchase some Junk from Mac.
- It is generally a good idea to purchase some Junk between missions
because you will build up your stock of available skills faster. Once
you purchase Junk/Skills, they won't become available for purchase
again until you end another mission.
*Interact with the Arsenal Lab Station next to Ubiquitous in the Lab.
- This tutorial will show you how to edit your arsenals. It's fairly long
but you can access it again from the Lab Station menu if needed.
- When the tutorial is finished, look at your stock of skills from the
Lab Station menu. Get familiar with the skills you just received.
- Go back and select 'Edit Arsenal' to change skills if you think it's
necessary. Remember that you begin with only a 2-school arsenal.
Starting Arsenal Notes:
-----------------------
A good starting arsenal should include some short and mid-range attacks as
well as roughly 5-6 defenses and usually a few Healing Waters.
You don't have very many skills to choose from at first so it will probably
be a hodgepodge of random skills. As you acquire skills, you will want to
make changes to your arsenal to make it better. More information on arsenals
is included in the *ARSENAL INFORMATION* section of this guide.
Example Beginning Arsenal (Psycho-Nature)
1x Vacuum Slash
1x Flame Sword
1x Psycho Blade
1x Rock Shot
1x Bomb
1x Bullet of Fire
1x Piece of Ice
1x Psycho Spear
1x Heat
2x Crystal Wall
1x Wall
2x Glacial Wall
1x Healing Water
15x Aura Particles
This arsenal will get you through many of the missions although, as the
story progresses, you may want to add some Heats, Speeds, and/or
Acquisitions.

23. Arsenal
Stage: Palace
Partner: Meister
Objective: Approval from Meister
Opponent(s): Euroto (20hp)
Strategy: Opponent will send Lasers at long-range. If you get within
mid-range, it will focus Blaster at Meister. Take out enemy
with short-range attacks for best results.
Win: 700 credits, skill, memory box
*Go purchase more Junk at Mac's Shop.

24. Emergency Signal
Stage: Highway
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Support Edgar
Opponent(s): Anthro (20hp), Claustro (20hp)
Strategy: Claustro will mainly attack Edgar. Anthro will focus on
attacking you. Defend Anthro's Rock Shot and attack until he
is out. If Claustro isn't dead yet, go take care of him. He
uses Rapid Cannon to attack you. It is easy to dodge if you
run perpendicular to the attack.
Win: 700 credits, skill, memory box

25. Red-Haired Woman
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Edgar
Objective: Find Mystery Scout
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Scoto (15hp), and eventually Partheno (20hp)
Strategy: Follow one around (preferrably one Edgar's not attacking) with
a short-range attack like Flame Sword. Ready your defenses
because Andro attacks with Vacuum Slash/Crawlers while Scoto
attacks with Rapid Cannon. Watch out around Edgar because he
uses swords to attack his opponent and it may hit you if you
are too close.
When the first two opponents are down, another appears
(Partheno). Just follow her around with Flame Sword and she
will not be around very long.
Win: 700, skill, memory box
*Stock up on skills by purchasing more Junk at Mac's Shop
*Edit arsenal if need be.

26. Stray Eyes
Stage: Palace
Partner: Sammah
Objective: Support Sammah
Opponent(s): 4x Ommato (10hp)
Strategy: When you kill an Ommato, another will spawn so you will face a
total of four enemies, but only two at a time. Attack with a
mid-range attack like Bomb/Rock Shot from the middle of the
bridge on the second level by the tree. If you fall off or an
Ommato is hiding where you can't reach it, short-range attack
the rest of them to death.
Win: 700 credits, skill, memory box
*Buy more Junk if you have the credits.
*Talk to Tetsuya
27. Patrolling the Highway
Stage: Highway
Partner: Cuff Button
Objective: Support Cuff Button
Opponent(s): Vestio (20hp), Euroto (20hp)
Strategy: Cuff will go for Euroto. You will mainly have to worry about
Vestio. Vestio throws Paralyze at you. Block with a defensive
skill. If you get hit, don't panic. You won't incur damage
from the Paralyze skill and you can still use your defenses.
Take Vestio with mid and or short-range attacks. He is quick
with his defenses so try to block the paralyze and follow with
an attack. When he goes down, take out Euroto the same way.
Euroto should have lower health from Cuff's attacks.
Win: 700 credits, skill, memory box
*Buy more Junk to keep building your skill stock list.

28. Distorted Sky
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Your Choice
Objective: Study Distortion Effect
Opponent(s): Anthro (20hp), Claustro (20hp)
Strategy: This battle is a standard defend and attack battle. Use your
short-range attacks to take them out. Your opponents attack
with Vacuum Slash, Bomb, and Demon's Fire. Be quick with your
defenses when you're up close.
Win: 700 credits, skills, memory box

29. Paralyze
Stage: Palace
Partner: Your Choice
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Vestio (20hp)
Strategy: Go after Andro first. When he attacks with Twister, just run
to the side. If it hits you, it will do 4 damage + falling
damage. Vestio uses Blaster. Use short-range attacks to take
them both out. They mainly attack your parnter.
Win: 700 credits, skill, memory box
*Talk to pH
30. Delicious Recipe
Stage: Highway
Partner: pH
Objective: Search for Recipe
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Hedono (20hp)
Strategy: Hedono will be focused on attacking pH. Attack Andro first
with short-range attack like Flame Sword. When Andro is done,
attack Hedono in the same manner.
Win: 700 credits, skill, memory box

31. Guard
Stage: Highway
Partner: Meister
Objective: Research Guard
Opponent(s): Guard
Strategy: Guard will uses 'HOLE'-type attacks to cause you damage. To
avoid hole attacks, jump when you see the glowing circle at
your feet. Guard will also attack using Fire Storm which is a
'RAIN'-type of attack. It can be avoided by running straight
in one direction. Hit Guard with either long or short-range
attacks.
Win: 700 credits, skill, memory box
*Talk to Cuff Button
32. Share Life
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Cuff Button
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Ommato (10hp), Vestio (20hp)
Strategy: Worry about Vestio first. Cuff should kill the Ommato by
himself fairly quickly. Hide in the stairwall behind your
spawn because Vestio will start Psycho Kinesis-ing all the
objects in the room. Once you've build up your skills, use a
short-range attack to take him down. Watch out for his Psycho
Knife.
Win: 700 credits, skills, memory box
*Talk to Meister (Lab)
33. Search Team Exam
Stage: Palace
Partner: Meister
Objective: Win Meister's Approval
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Hedono (20hp)
Strategy: Attack Andro first. He is good with defenses against
'PARABOLA'-type attacks so get in close with a short-range
attack. He also casts Whirlwind which costs 7 aura to use and
behaves similar to Twister. Just run to one side and attack.
Once Andro is out, attack Hedono. Hedono uses the same
Whirlwind attack. Use the same attack tactics against Hedono.
If Meister should perish, you can walk over his body, map him
to a button and bring him back to life. (Remember Tsubutaki
mission earlier?)
Win: 700 credits, skills, memory box

34. Education for the Gifted
Stage: Palace
Partner: Know
Objective: Train Guard
Opponent(s): Guard
Strategy: Guard's spawn is in the opposite corner. Get enough aura to
use mid or short-range attack skills and get close to Guard.
Stay underneath the overhang between the broken escalators to
avoid the Rain of Stones. Once in a while, Guard will attack
with a Reincarnation (mid-range black bird-like attack). Guard
has an About Face defense so be careful when attacking with a
mid-range attack.

35. Final Selection
Stage: Panorama
Partner: --
Objective: Battle Edgar
Opponent(s): Edgar (20hp)
Strategy: Close in once you get enough aura and attacks. Take him out
with Psycho Blade for quick results. Watch out for his short-
range attack skills but you can dodge them easily by moving to
one side or the other. He also shoots Ki Lance which has
piercing effects.
Win: 700 credits, skill, memory box

Stage: Palace
Partner: JD will show up shortly after mission starts
Objective: Search for JD
Opponent(s): Claustro (20hp), Hedono (20hp)
Strategy: Use swords to take out both opponents. They both seem to
attack only JD. You don't necessarily have to worry about
using defenses but it is always a good idea to have one ready
just in case.

Opponent(s): 3x Gyne Sisters
Strategy: One Gyne will show up at first. Build up aura, then attack and
defend. When she is out, two more Gynes will show up. Go after
the Gyne that spawns on the steps near the first Gyne's spawn.
Watch out for her short-range Ki attacks. After you kill her,
attack the final Gyne straight across from your spawn. Run
circles around her until you have enough aura to Psycho Blade
her to death.

38. Sleep Land Ai Saw
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Your Choice
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Catoptro (20hp)
Strategy: Attack Andro first with a straight-shooting attack like Bullet
of Fire or Blaster. His defenses will erase short-range
attacks. When you go after Catoptro, it will use erase skills
like Dragon Slayer and Tiger Slayer. It's best to kill
Catoptro with a short-range attack.

Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Catoptro (20hp)
Strategy: Use any straight-shooting attack like Bullet of Fire or a
short-range attack like Flame Sword to take out Andro first.
Focus on Catoptro next. Andro will use Psycho Kinesis to throw
objects inside the building.

40. A Warm Dish
Stage: Highway

41. Edgar's Memory
Stage: Highway
Partner: Chunky
Objective: Find the Memory Box (win battle)
Opponent(s): Anthro (20hp), Vestio (20hp)
Strategy: Both enemies seem to focus on attacking you during this
mission. Try taking out Vestio with a short-range attack
while he's on the stairs to the left of your spawn. If he
dodges, he will either roll off the side or still get hit by
your attack. Be mindful of Anthro's Psycho Sniper attack.
Take out Anthro with any short-range attack.

Stage: Palace
Partner: Meister
Objective: Return the Arsenal (win battle)
Opponent(s): Scoto (15hp), Hedono (20hp)

for quick results. Attack and kill Scoto first. Meister will
keep Hedeno busy and then you can finish him off.

43. Order: Search for Edgar (Ch. 3 Boss Battle) (00635)
Cinematic of Edgar getting angry with you. He has found Friea and she has
helped him regain some of his memory.
Stage: Panorama
Partner: --
Objective: Investigate Panorama
Opponent(s): Carcino (30hp)
Strategy: Example arsenal: 3x Blaster, 3x Rock Shot, 3x Auto Shell, and
3x Psycho Spear/Meteor. Also consider Heat, Healing Water,
and/or Acquisition. Do not use any short-range attacks. Only
mid-range attack skills will damage Carcino.
You want to get enough aura, Blaster, and Rock Shot fairly
quickly. Attack the 'Eye' when it is open to damage Carcino.
Mainly use Rock Shot from the bottom floor of Panorama to
damage the 'Eye' because it does 4 damage for a cost of only
3 aura. Toss Rock Shot as much as possible while the 'Eye' is
open.
When the 'Eye' moves up out of range, Carcino will attack. It
will fire Blaster and Bomb, but most commonly it will
send floating drones that look like Ommatos. These drones will
explode when they touch you so target-lock them at mid-range
and attack with the Blaster. If you hit one, it should explode
causing the others to explode as well. Sometimes there will
be a lonely drone that you'll have to attack again.
When Carcino's health get's low, it will begin shooting
Ricochet Lasers as well. This is where the Auto Shell comes in
handy as it's almost impossible to dodge this attack. It is
also very helpful to constantly jump after the Ricochet Lasers
have been fired. If you get hit while in the air, you will
fall down and become invincible for a few seconds as the
Ricochet Lasers subside. Keep attacking when the 'Eye' is open
until it is dead.

44. New Territory
Stage: Strange City
Partner: pH
Objective: Investigate Strange City
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Mechano (20hp)
Strategy: Be careful of the ranged attacks Andro uses because these will
erase one of your attacks mapped to a button. Get in close and
attack away. Andro has Psycho Knife but you can use Glacial
Wall to freeze his buttons and then attack some more. Focus on
Mechano after you take out Andro.

Stage: Palace
Partner: --
Objective: Meister's Approval (Do not incur damage for 3 minutes.)

Meister throws at you. You can end the match quickly by
killing Meister with Psycho Blade.

46. Compressor
Stage: Highway
Partner: Meister
Objective: Win Battle; Use Compressor
Opponent(s): Euroto (20hp), Catoptro (20hp)
Strategy: You must put the Compressor skill in your arsenal for this
mission. It should be in your stock by now. To use the
Compressor effectively, put a lot of of one-use defenses in
your arsenal. Compressor damage is equal to the number of
consumed (mapping over, breaking, used-up) defenses.
You can take your opponents out as you see fit but make sure
to use the Compressor attack skill at least once.
Win: 800 credits, skill, memory box
*Talk to pH (may have to talk to him twice)
47. Red Rose of Passion
Stage: Panorama
Partner: pH
Objective: Find a Rose (win battle)
Opponent(s): Vestio (20hp), Anthro (20hp)
Strategy: Both Vestio and Anthro double team you. Anthro is easier to
take out first. Hang out in the stairwell to avoid Vestio's
Bomb Shot and defeat Anthro with a short-range attack. Go
after Vestio by blocking his attack and hitting him with your
short-range attack.

48. Message in a Bottle
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Your Choice
Objective: Investigate Panorama
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Vestio (20hp)

49. Scraps of Memory
Stage: Strange City
Partner: Tsubutaki
Objective: Find Memory Box (win battle)
Opponent(s): Anthro (20hp), Vestio (20hp)
Strategy: Make sure you have a variety of attack skills in your arsenal
because these opponents use defenses that may erase your
attacks. Your opponents also use devastating mid-range
attacks so make sure to stay at long or short-range when
battling them. The good news is that they hurt themselves each
time they use their Faith-school skills.

your feet). JD helps a little but take out the enemies with
a short-range attack.

52. Massacre in the Dark
Stage: Highway
Partner: --
Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Sammah (20hp)
Strategy: Start defending Sammah's erase skills right away otherwise he

skills. Get close and hit him with a short-range attack. His
defenses will erase your ranged attacks unless you use
piercing attacks.

Stage: Palace
Partner: Know
Objective: Train Guard
Opponent(s): Guard (20hp)
Strategy: As you pick up your skills, move under the tree to protect

short-range attacks unless you can break his Wall of Current
defense. Hit him with Blaster, Bomb, or Rock Shot.

54. Unusual Moves
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Know

55. Secret Business
Stage: Highway
Partner: Chunky
Objective: Support Chunky
Opponent(s): Euroto (20hp), Ceno (20hp)
Strategy: Take out Euroto first with strong mid or short-range attacks.
Be careful about Ceno because it will shoot Doze (-1 to your
attack damage). It will also cast Massive Quake so jump when
you see the glowing circles at your feet.
Win: 800 credits, skill, memory box
*Talk to Chunky
56. Big Claustro Fall
Stage: Strange City
Partner: Chunky
Objective: Support Chunky
Opponent(s): 4x Claustro (20hp)
Strategy: When you kill a Claustro, another one will appear soon after.
Some will erase short-range attacks. It is a good idea to have
a Glacial Wall handy so you can freeze their buttons and then
hit with a Psycho Blade. Lucky for you none of their attacks
are very strong. Chunky isn't much help with his Sonic Boom.
First, take out the Claustro nearest to your spawn with short-
range attack. Take the next few out with Blaster, Rock Shot,
or Bomb. Keep switching your lock-on to keep tabs on your
other opponent and have a Glacial Wall ready just in case.
Win: 800 credits, skill, memory box

58. Ghost Sightings
Stage: Highway
Partner: pH
Objective: Investigate Highway
Opponent(s): Mechano (20hp), Partheno (20hp)
Strategy: Don't take Partheno too lightly. She uses skills that go
through obstacles like Thor's Hammer and Agonies of Death. She
also tosses the Psycho Spear, and she can erase short-range
attacks with her defense. Stay at range and fire away with
Blaster or Rock Shot. You'll have to be quick with your
defenses for this battle. Don't worry too much about Mechano
because it will focus more on pH.

It will mainly attack with Bullet of Fire. You can take him
out quickly with Psycho Blade--especially if you add a Heat or
two to your arsenal. Partheno uses Blaster and Laser. You can
take her out with using the Psycho Blade as well. One of your
enemies will use Disintegrate which will lower your Level to
zero. If you've downloaded the patches, it should behave like
a Hole-type attack so jump when you see the glowing circles at
your feet.

Objective: Investigate Refinery
Opponent(s): Edgar (20hp)
Strategy: Defend against his attacks and counter with a mid-range
attack. He will often use a Snap attack that will knock you

standing behind the yellow lockers on the corner between your
spawn and Edgar's. If he's by his spawn when you attack, you
will either hit him or he will cartwheel off the stage.

Stage: Panorama
Partner: Tsubutaki
Objective: Win Battle; Tsubutaki Must Survive
Opponent(s): Ceno (20hp), Belono (20hp)
Strategy: Use short-range attacks to take your enemies out quickly. They
may hit you with a Burden (-2 speed) but it shouldn't hinder
you too much if you're already within close range. If
Tsubutaki should fall, remember to pick her up before the

67. Crystalization
Stage: Palace
Partner: Meister
Objective: Win Battle; Use Crystalization
Opponent(s): Guard
Strategy: Put Crystalization in your arsenal with a number of 'piece'
skills. The strength of Crystalization is equal to the
total strength of all equipped (mapped) 'piece' skills. Now,
'piece' skills are only listed in the Nature school and are
single use. They include Piece of Fire, Piece of Ice, Piece of
Lightning, and the online skill Piece of Wind. An example
Cystalization arsenal is listed in the *ARSENAL CREATION*
section of this guide.
Equip two 'piece' skills (preferably 2x Piece of Fire),
Crystalization and a defense. Stand under the overhang between
the two escalators near Guard's spawn. Attack Guard with
Crystalization.

68. Judge of Anubis
Stage: Panorama
Partner: Meister
Objective: Win Battle; Use Judge of Anubis
Opponent(s): Guard
Strategy: Place Judge of Anubis in an arsenal. To use it effectively,
try to get your health lower than your opponent's health. That
is the hardest part of this mission--actually using this
skill. It's strength is equal to the difference of your
opponent's health minus your own multiplied by two. For
example, if your health is 10 and your opponent's health is
20, the difference is 10. Multiply this difference by 2 and
you will do 20 damage to your opponent. A draw back is that it
does 3 damage to you each time you use it. An example Judge of
Anubis arsenal is provided in the *ARSENAL CREATION* section
of this guide.
Allow Guard's attacks to hit you while you build up your level
to 8. When you do get around to using it, be mindful of
Guard's About Face defense as the Judge may come back at you.
If you health gets too low, try using a Healing Water. By now,
you should be able to take out Guard with one hit with the
Judge. Guard's Rain of Stones should't be too much of a
problem here as you spend most of the misison under an
overhang.

69. Young Writer
Stage: Strange City
Partner: --
Objective: Win Battle; Decrease Health to <5
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Ceno (20hp)
Strategy: Ceno will erase your capsules so take him out first. Don't
worry too much about taking damage as you have to get your
health at <5. Once Ceno is out, get your health to <5 by
taking damage from Andro's Rain of Rocks. Take out Andro with
a short-range attack.

70. Single Death Shot
Stage: Panorama
Partner: --
Objective: Win Battle; Destroy Enemy with One Shot
Opponent(s): Ceno (5hp)
Strategy: This mission is relatively simple despite the listed
objectives. All you have to do it hit Ceno once with any
attack that does over 5 damage. There are a number of skills
to choose from but Psycho Blade works exceptionally well. If
use any other skill first (other than aura capsules), you will
fail the mission. Ceno won't really use any attacks so as
soon as you get enough aura, go over and attack it.

71. Secret Meeting
Stage: Strange City
Partner: JD shows up soon after the mission starts
Objective: Contact Chunky
Opponent(s): Chunky (20hp), Sammah (20hp)
Strategy: Chunky asks you to bring a non-combat arsenal but don't do it.
They will turn on you. Use an arsenal with low-cost skills
because an environmental skill will double the cost of your
skills. Take out Sammah first because he is using erase skills
and then go after Chunky. He mainly uses low damage skills. A
Glacial Wall is helpful during this mission.

Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): Anthro (20hp), Andro (20hp)
Skills: The arsenal for this mission is provided for you. Arrow of
Atemis, Vampire Bat, Reincarnation, Photon Barrier
Strategy: Watch out for your opponents' short-range attacks. Once you
get your Level up, use Reincarnation. Use it until you get <3
aura and then pause so that you can regenerate enough aura to
use again. With Reincarnation, you get to continue using it as
long as you have enough aura to use again. If you choose JD as
a partner, he should be able to do some damage.

Opponent(s): Vestio (20hp), Belono (20hp)
Skills: An arsenal is provided for you. 2x Vibration Laser, Vibration
Blaster, Mist Blade, Mist Blaster, Auto Shell
Strategy: Get your Level above 10 so that you can use the Vibration
Laser and Vibration Blaster. Take out your enemies at long-
range with the Vibration Laser. If they come within mid-range,
use Vibration Blaster. Try not to use the Mist Blade or Mist
Blaster because they will lower your Level by one for each
use.

Objective: Support JD
Opponent(s): Hedono (20hp), Mechano (20hp)
Strategy: Skills for this mission are single-use because of an
environmental skill. Try using heavy damaging attacks like
Psycho Spear, Meteor, Psycho Wave, Psycho Burst and Thor's
Hammer. It is also helpful if you use skills that can't be
erased like Sign of Saints, Reincarnation, and Photon Barrier.
Both enemies seem to attack JD for the most part.

Rail Gun, Wall of Fire, Change Course
Strategy: The skills in this arsenal all have certain restrictions that
must be met in order for you to use them. Remember to use the
D-Pad to see skill information. Use Blazing Bullet to take out
Vestio near his spawn. Ceno will use erase skills but you can
take him out after Vestio.

Opponent(s): 4x Gyne
Strategy: They all have defenses that will erase skills--defenses like
Iron Skin and Flash Hole. Try using attacks that have piercing
effect such as Psycho Spear and Vacuum Slash. You want to
damage them with each attack. When one goes down another shows
up. If Tsubutaki dies, make sure to bring her back to life

80. Rescue Friends (Ch. 5 Boss Battle) (00655)
Cinematic of Visions Officers being attacked by a creature.
Stage: Refinery
Partner: --
Objective: Secure Return Path
Opponent(s): Thalasso (20hp)
Strategy: Use Blaster, Rock Shot, or any other ranged attack. Short-
range skills will be of no use to you for this battle.
Thalasso follows a set pattern. For each pass you will get one
chance to attack. It will stop near the helicopter in front of
your spawn, stick it's 'eye' out, then hit you with an attack
that will levitate and drop you.
When it stops and the eye comes out, attack and then get ready
to block it's blue orb attack. When it passes over over your
head, hide behind the stairs to the left of your spawn to
avoid the blasters. Attack and defend again when it stops near
the helicopter. Continue until it's dead.

whatever you have left. This is not a particularly difficult
mission when compared to some of the others.

Skills: An arsenal is provided for this mission. Lightning Sword,
Lightning Blade, Ice Sword, Fortress of Iron
Strategy: The cost of some of these attack skills will go up one for
each use. Your opponents will not attack you very often and
they won't use their defenses very often. A good combo when
using this arsenal would be to Ice Sword first followed by a
Lightning Sword.

Objective: Search for Recipe (win battle)
Opponent(s): Andro (20hp), Hedono (20hp)
Strategy: This mission may cause a little trouble as it is tougher than
some of the previous missions. Andro has a few defenses that
erase short-range attacks. Plus he also has Fang of Tree which
is a crawl-type skill with piercing effect. Take out Hedono
first with short-range attacks then go for Andro. Use Healing
Waters when your health gets low.

85. An Ommato Outbreak (00661)
Stage: Refinery

Objective: Win Battle
Opponent(s): 6x Ommato (10hp)
Strategy: This can be a difficult mission if you don't take some heavy
damaging skills. Some good skills to bring along include
Psycho Blade, Psycho Spear, Flame Sword, Heat, Tiger's
Strength, Glacial Wall, Vacuum Slash and/or Healing Water.
When you kill one, another appears for a total of 6 Ommatos.
None of their attacks are strong enough to break your Glacial
Wall so use that as your main defense. Make sure to attack and
kill each Ommato one at a time. Be careful about using short-
range attacks while on the outer walkway because you will have
a tendency to fall off.

Objective: Rescue Baroness
Opponent(s): pH
Strategy: pH gets a Photon Wave fairly early on so be careful if you get
in close. You can block it but it is hard to get the timing
down and it usually breaks the defense anyway. pH will also
attack with Blaster. Block his attacks then follow with a
ranged attack. Use a variety of mid-range attacks to add ease
to the mission.

Opponent(s): Partheno (20hp), Mechano (20hp)
Strategy: JD will use the environmental skill that doubles the cost of
your skills. If it is causing you problems, just walk by the
glowing crystal and pick it up like a skill. When you pick it
up, it will become an aura particle. You have to wait at least
30 seconds from when it was used before you can pick it up.
Take out Mechano first because it's shooting Charged Particle
and it's annoying. Partheno should already have low health
from JD's attacks. If JD dies during the mission, you may have
to pick him up if you need the extra help.

an environmental that prohibits skills that do <3 damage. Take
out Ceno first with a short-range attack. If you don't Ceno
will use Violent Change that will erase capsules at your
spawn.

her. Belono will put down an environmental that causes you to
lose one health for each skill use. Belono doesn't use
defenses very well so it should be fairly easy to take out.

Strategy: When one falls, the others take it's place. You will fight a
total of 6 enemies. Keep JD alive. If he dies, try to pick him
up. There are a number of environmental skills that prohibit
attacks that do <3 damage and <2 aura. Use short-range attacks
until you can build up enough aura for Vibration Blaster and
Vibration Laser. 3x Healing Waters help a lot. You won't be
blocking much because of the environmentals but a Reverse can
come in very helpful.

Cinematic of Friea explaining more about your history with Edgar and the
Phantom Dust.
Boss Battle
Stage: Lane
Partner: --
Objective: Defeat Frieas
Opponent(s): 3x Friea
Strategy: There are many different strategies for winning this mission.
One of the easiest ways is to use the environmental skill
Fatigue (aura recovery ceases while moving). The Frieas don't
stop very long to recover their aura. They will take it away
though unless you can put it where they can't get it. Take the
jump pad behind your spawn. While facing your spawn, go left
then turn right and go to the edge of the rooftop. Jump to the
middle rooftop. You will land on the eve of the house just
below the very top. Place environmental skill here.
Now, get a short-range attack and spawn camp a Friea's spawn.
When she comes in to collect her capsules, hit with your short
-range attack. Every once in a while they will use an attack
so have a defense ready.
After the first two are gone, the real Friea shows up. Again,
spawn camp and hit her with short-range attacks.
Some helpful skills include Fatigue, Memory Lapse, Psycho
Blade, Photon Burst, Healing Water, Heat, Tiger's Strength,
Meditation ande anything else that may do some heavy damage.
Win: 1000 credits (that's it?), skill, memory box
Another Cinematic explaining Edgar's memories. Everyone was created by Edgar
and Friea disappears because she thinks Edgar doesn't need her anymore.

97. Skill Controversy
Stage: Panorama

Objective: Win Battle; Use Swift Blow
Opponent(s): Chunky
Strategy: Add Swift Blow to an arsenal. This skill has a restriction
that your level has to be no greater than 2. To make an
effective Swift Blow arsenal, check out an example in the
*ARSENAL CREATION* section of this guide. Defend Chunky's
attacks and attack with Swift Blow at least once. You have to
do damage with this attack for you to complete this mission.
It is a good idea to add more than one Swift Blow.
Win: 1200 credits, skill, memory box
*Talk to Tetsuya
98. Writer Again (00671)
Stage: Strange City
Partner: --
Objective: Win Battle; Use Pursuit
Opponent(s): Partheno (20hp), Vestio (20hp)
Strategy: This is a fairly difficult battle because your spawn is in the
middle and open to attack on both sides. To use Pursuit, your
target must be on the ground. There is a short time period
after an enemy falls down that he/she is vulnerable to a
Pursuit. You must be within short-range to use Pursuit. A good
combo could include Flame Sword-Pursuit because Flame Sword
knocks down your enemy. An example Pursuit arsenal is included
in the *ARSENAL CREATION* section of this guide.
As you are building up your Level and skills, use the jump pad
to the left of your spawn to get to the highest part of the
stage. Here you are relatively protected until you're ready to
attack. When Partheno tries to jump up, you jump back to your
spawn to pick up more skills. Partheno may throw some Psycho
Spears so be careful as she's jumping up on the jump pad.
Once you have an attack, a defense and a Pursuit ready, go
after Vestio at his spawn. Vestio uses mainly three skills:
Paralyze, Psycho Burst and Blaster. Make sure you stomp on his
face with Pursuit. Partheno is only a minor concern while
you're at Vestio's spwan.
Watch out for Partheno's Scream of Evil attack because this
will go through obstacles (looks like a little black bird).
The good news is that this skill also hurts Partheno. By the
time you take out Vestio, Partheno should have low health from
those Scream of Evil attacks.
An environmental (Memory Lapse, Fatigue) can be helpful for
this mission. Just make sure you put it on one of the raised
platforms near Vestio's spawn. Your opponents can't jump so
they can't take it away.

99. Reeducation of Know (00672)
Stage: Refinery
Partner: Know
Objective: Train Know
Opponent(s): Guard (20hp)
Strategy: This one is tough because Guard will use an environmental
skill that inverts everyone's controls. This usually causes
you to fall off because the controls are inverted. Add a Crush
to your arsenal for this mission because Crush will
immediately erase the environmental skill. Guard will also
use Burdens (-2 speed) on you. To stop the Burdens, either get
a defense early or bring a Purify to erase the hindering
status effects. Guard is not difficult after you deal with the
environmental and the Burdens. Get close and Psycho Blade him
to death.

Make sure you have some Glacial Walls and/or a reverse handy.
Blast away with any mid-range attack such as Blaster,

arsenal include 3x Acquisition, 3x Heat, 1x Blaster,1x Vibration Blaster,
1x Cluster Bomb, 1x Psycho Blade, 1x Reverse, 2x Wall, 1x Psychic Wall,
2x Level Amp (possibly add Optimization).
Cinematic of Edgar wanting you to disappear.
Stage: Sein
Partner: --
Objective: Investigate Ruins
Opponent(s): Protagonist (yourself, 20hp), Edgar (20hp), Friea (20hp)
Strategy: You will fight yourself first. Reverse will be your best
friend, especially when combined with an Optimization. Reverse
opponent's attack and then hit him with a mid-range attack.
Once he's down, Edgar and Friea will show up to try to kill
you. If you still have any Acquisitions or Heats left, use
them. Make your way under the edge of the spire in the middle
of the stage. Friea will use Photon Shower but you'll be
protected if you're under the overhang. Take her out first
with your ranged attacks. Edgar will use Ki skills. You can
Reverse his Ki Lance but watch out for his short-range attacks
as these will do great damage. Once they are finished, you
will watch another cinematic.
Cinematic of Friea holding Edgar. She is mad because you don't understand.
She combines with Edgar to create a Demented Friea.
Stage: Inside Spire of Sein
Partner: --
Opponent(s): Demented Friea = Lower(10hp), Mid(10hp), Top(20hp)
Final Friea (30hp)
Strategy: For this battle, you will be forced to run up the stairs. Your
skills will spawn on the steps. If you pass up a skill, you
will not be able to get it back. You will need to get a
defense, a usable attack and enough aura to use them as soon
as possible. There is somewhat of a time limit against
Demented Friea in that you want to kill her before you run out
of skills. Don't sprint up the stairs because you may pass up
skills you will need. Short-range attacks will do you no good
for this battle.
There are three sections of Demented Friea. To damage the
bottom, wait for the dangling 'eye' and attack. Be ready to
block the blue orb attack with any defense. If you get hit, it
will lift you up and drop you.
The middle section is hard to hit without getting hit
yourself. The middle section has a cannon that will move
around until it's aiming at you. Right before it fires, the
'eye' will open and that is your chance to cause damage. Jump
immediately
The top section will shoot out little mirrors. A few seconds
later, it will shoot Lasers off the mirrors and toward you.
Right before it shoots the Lasers, the 'eye' will glow a deep
red color and that is your chance to damage it. After
attacking, run up the stairs and you should avoid the Lasers.
When you make it past that, there's another Final Friea to
worry about. Before Final Friea attacks, glowing red circles
will appear. Attack her and get ready to block. Her attacks
home in very well so don't try to block them. Reverse is very
helpful here since her attacks can't break the defense. Don't
let her stop over the top of you--keep moving. Final Friea
isn't that hard when you learn the timing of her attacks so
that you can block them.
Win: 1200 credits, skill, memory box
Ending cinematic of what truly happened. The real Edgar died a long time ago
but made a copy of himself to watch over the world. Then you get to watch
the credits.
But wait! There's more!

Objective: Search for Know
Opponent(s): Know (20hp), Guard (20hp)
Strategy: Make sure you have a Crush in your arsenal because Guard will
use the inverted controls environmental again. Once you get
rid of those pesky environmentals, the mission becomes
immensely more palatable.
Get a mid-range attack, preferrably a parabola-type attack.
From your spawn, make your way to the middle, back portion of
the bottom floor underneath the roof. This will protect you
from Guard's Killer Satellite and Rain of Rocks. Attack and
kill him with Rock Shot/Cluster Bomb/Bomb. For Know, just

If you can't defend, use the stairs to right for protection.
When he comes running up the far steps on the left, wait until
he attacks then quickly move right, toward the safety of the
stairwell. Once you're ready, go after him. If you don't get
powered up right away, eventually Guard will run out of
attacks but he will still have a bunch of defenses. Make sure

spawn on the opposite corner, along the outer walkway,
straight in front of your spawn, use some mid-range attacks,
down the stairs in the middle of the walkway, and back to his
spawn again. Use Slide Laser from the front of the Helicopter
near your spawn as Cuff runs to the corner straight ahead of
you. When he gets within mid-range, hit him with a Blaster or
Vibration Blaster. The Lasers will make him drop his aura and
he won't be able to use his defenses when you hit him with the
Blaster. He has one short-range attack which you can erase
with an erasing defense.

Palace
------
This stage looks like it was once a mall. There is a tree growing in the
middle of the stage. It is a well-rounded stage suitable for just about
every type of attack. There is space for long-range attacks but it's cozy
enough for short-range attacks. The two bridges on both sides of the tree
are breakable. There are a number of items for you to throw when using the
Psycho Kinesis skill. You can fall off the stage if you jump/fall into the
hole surrounding the tree. The two roots on the side that stick out from the
center do not provide protection from attacks.
This stage is perhaps the most popular stage on Xbox Live. It is especially
good for cartwheelers and rollers.

This is what is left of the road system from days long ago. This stage is
very good for long-range attacks. There are a few overpasses here with
breakable walls. The middle roads have breakable floors, meaning that
once they break, you can fall off the stage. Construction items are
available to you if you want to use Psycho Kinesis.
This stage is the most popular long-range stage. It is relatively easy to
spam Laser skills and crawl-type skills here.
Panorama
--------
This stage is the remnants of an abandoned office building. It is mainly a
short-range stage. Lasers and some other long-distance skills are useless as
are rain-type attacks for the most part. Luckily, there are no places for
you to fall off the stage here. Inside the building, there are a number of
items to throw with Psycho Kinesis.
Strange City
------------
Weird is all that can be said about this stage. You are playing on a city
block that's been turned on it's side. It is a good long-range stage with
floating signs for you to stand on. It is very easy to get hit with debris
on this stage. If you're using Psycho Kinesis, there are signs all along the
edges of this stage for you to throw (some of the bigger signs have to be
broken before you can throw them. It is very easy to fall off this map. At
times you may find it helpful to disengage your lock-on to use some of the
narrow bridges to the other levels.
This is a fun map unless you spawn in the middle in which you usually get
attacked from both sides.
Refinery
--------
This is an old oil drilling station in the middle of the ocean. It has a
large middle portion with a number of levels as well as a catwalk around the
edges. There are throwable objects located around the stage for Psycho
Kinesis users. It is very easy to fall off this stage, especially when some
attacks break the railings off. This stage offers benefits to just about
every range of attack skill because there are a number of obstacles dotting
the stage.
This map is the worst for cartwheelers and rollers because it is easy to
cartwheel/roll off the map.
Lane
-----
Ahhh. Just like home. This map is a residential district based on Edgar's
memory. Nothing is throwable with Psycho Kinesis and nothing is breakable.
When you hit a portion of this stage with an attack, it 'heals' back up like
there was no damage at all. You cannot fall off this stage. It is difficult
to use attacks here simply because of all the winding drives and alleys.
On the rooftops, you can use distance attacks and while on the ground, you
can use short-range attacks. It is easy to lose track of where you are in
relation to your spawn here.
This is the least used map online. Some arsenals that work well on this map
utilize skills that can penetrate objects.
Sein
-----
This is the ruins that all of the Visions remember but they can't find it.
It is the last place the original Edgar met with his real girlfriend Friea.
As you play this map online, portions of the ground glow and then drop out.
There are lots of jump pads here. This is a great distance map in which you
have to utilize the trajectories of your long-range skills. It is often easy
to lose track of you spawn here too.
Cartwheelers and rollers may have a difficult time on this map as well
because of the disappearing ground.

Skill Information (00800)
============================================================================
This is a list of the basic skill information after skill update 1.20. This
is mainly for reference only. I will soon try to do a complete skill FAQ
with specific notes at a later time.
There are six different kinds of skills and a color associated with them:
Attack(red), Defense(blue), Erase(purple), Status(green), Special(yellow)
and Environmental(light blue).
There are five schools in which the skills are grouped: Psycho, Optical,
Nature, Ki and Faith.
You begin Ch. 3 with a 2-school arsenal restriction meaning that you cannot
put more than 2 schools of skills in your arsenal. Later in the game you
will be able to purchase a 3-school arsenal and a 1-school arsenal.
Attack Skill Types
------------------
Parabola - These skills travel up and then down at mid-range. Best when your
opponent is on the other side of an obstacle or on a level above you.
Example Skills: Rock Shot, Bomb
Arc - These skills travel in a curving motion to the right hand side.
Sometimes you can hit your enemies even if they are hiding behind an
obstacle because the arc-type attacks curve to the right.
Example Skills: Laser, Sonic Boom
Rain - These attacks will appear above the opponent and drop damaging blasts
from the sky. It is often easy to avoid these attacks by hiding under
obstacles or by running in one direction.
Example Skills: Fire Storm, Killer Satellite
Fall - These attacks will generally appear above the users head and come
down in a slanted trajectory toward the target. It is generally most
effective when your opponent is on a level above you.
Example Skills: Meteor, Thor's Hammer
Hole - These attacks will come from the ground. If your opponent is on the
ground, he/she will be affected. When cast, the hole-type attacks will
appear as glowing circles under the targets feet for a second or two before
the attack will damage. Some erase skills are hole-type skills as well.
Example Skills: Tremor, Massive Quake
Crawl - These types of skills will travel underground. They are generally
hard to spot but they look like a little, dark dust cloud on the ground.
There is usually a slight rumbling associated with this attack.
Example Skills - Fang of Tree, Crawlers
Move - There are only a few types of these skills and they are in the Nature
School.
Skills: Twister, Whirlwind, Tornado
Mine - These skills are either ones that you set in the ground or explode
around you. Some erase and status skills are mine-type skills.
Example Skills: Photon Wave, Sensor Mine
Defensive Skill Types
---------------------
Barrier - These skills will protect you best when attacked from the front
side.
Example Skills: Glacial Wall, Crystal Wall
Shelter - These skills will protect you from all sides. It is the only
defense that can protect you from a rain-type attack should you choose not
to dodge it.
Example Skills: Psychic Shell, Laser Shell
Course - These skills will protect you from mid- to long-range attacks only.
They cannot be broken or pierced but they will not protect you from short-
range attacks.
Example Skills: Change Course, Reverse
Reflect - These skills will bounce an attack back at the attacker. If the
attack breaks a reflect-type defense, it will not bounce back.
Example Skills: Reflect Barrier, Reflect Mirror
Absorb - These skills tend to take in the power of the attack and help you
in some manner. These skills, however, will not protect you from short-
range attacks--only mid- to long-range attacks.
Example Skills: Flash Hole, Learning
Brush - These skills will deflect attacks. They can block all sorts of
attacks but they excel when defending short-range attacks. If the short-
range attack doesn't break the 'brush' defense, there will be a brief
second when your opponent will stumble in which you can then attack.
Example Skills: Guard, Angel's Wing

Arsenal Creation (For Single Player) (00900)
============================================================================
As you collect credits, buy a lot of Junk at first from Mac's Shop. Save
purchasing specific skills and arsenals for later in the single player
campaign. You want to build up your library of skills as quickly as
possible so that you can create a more effective arsenal. Besides, you will
get more credits for the missions later in the campaign.
To see how your arsenal stats (wins, losses, etc), press X when selecting an
arsenal from the Edit Arsenal screen. If you're percentage is low, you may
want to experiment by adding new skills.
You can have a total of 16 arsenals on one profile.
**Beginning Arsenal Notes:
When you create your first arsenal you will not have very many skills to
choose from. A good starting arsenal can usually consist of a Psycho-Nature
arsenal. Use a few close-range and mid-range attacks with about 5 defenses
and a Healing Water or two. This kind of arsenal can get you through most
of the single player missions with a few tweaks as you gain more skills.
When you first get your arsenal, it will be restricted to 2 schools of
skills. As you progress, you will be given the chance to purchase a 3-school
arsenal and eventually in Ch. 7, you can purchase a 1-school arsenal.
A 3-school arsenal has a slower aura recovery than a 2-school but it allows
you to put three schools of skills in the arsenal. A 1-school arsenal has
a faster aura recovery than a 2-school but you can only use skills from one
school.
It is a good idea to include about 15 aura particles in your arsenal when
you are just beginning. You can't use your skills if you don't have any
aura. As you get more familiar with the game, you can try out other arsenals
that need less aura.
**Compressor Arsenal should utilize a number of defensive skills to allow
the compressor to be effective. The Compressor's strength lies in the number
of consumed defensive skills. That means the more defensive skills you use,
erase, break or map-over count toward the total damage of the Compressor.
**Crytalization Arsenal should have a number of 'piece' skills to make it
effective. There are only 3 offline 'piece' skills that include Piece of
Fire, Piece of Ice and Piece of Lightning. Crystalization does the damage
of all the damage of your equipped piece skills added together. It is
best used with two or three Pieces of Fire mapped to your buttons along with
Cyrstalization
An example Cyrstalization Arsenal might look like this:
Nature-Ki
2x Crystalization, 3x Piece of Fire, 2x Piece of Lighting, 2x Glacial Wall,
2x Iron Skin, 2x Tiger's Strength, 2x Dragon Slayer, 1x Lack
**Judge of Anubis Arsenal is effective when your health is lower than your
opponent's health. Judge of Anubis does damage equal to the difference
between your opponent's health minus yours multiplied by two. If your
opponent has 20 health and you have 10, then Judge of Anubis will do 20
damage. You take a three health penalty each time you use this skill.
An example Judge of Anubis Arsenal might look like this:
Faith-Nature
2x Judge of Anubis, 1x Flame Sword, 3x Agonies of Death, 1x Lightning Blade,
2x Glacial Wall, 1x Devil's Arm, 2x Guardian Angel, 1x Cyclone, 3x Healing
Water
**Swift Blow Arsenal utilizes low-aura cost skills because you have to keep
your level at two. The hardest part about this arsenal is resisting the
urge to pick up all your aura.
An example Swift Blow arsenal might look like this:

Multiplayer on Xbox Live (01000)
============================================================================
Multiplayer on Xbox Live is truly the best part of this game. Some even
argue that the single player campaign is one giant tutorial for online play.
(Although you don't need to play this game online to have fun with it.)
Playing online allows you to earn unique, rare skills for every 30 wins in
official battles.
If you're playing on XBox Live, make sure to download the skill updates
first. There are two of them: Skill Update 1.10 and Skill Update 1.20. Just
select Download Content from the main Phantom Dust Live menu.
To find your Friends' List, select 'Xbox Live Options' from the Phantom Dust
Live menu. You must host a match in order to send messages and invites.
Game Types:
-----------
Battle Royale -- Up to four players, destroy your opponents to win.
Tag Team -- Best with four players, you and your partner battle with another
team; if your partner falls, you can bring him/her back to life
but with lower health.
One-on-One -- Two players; no more no less.
Game Rules:
-----------
Standard Battle -- official battle (ratings, scoreboard); no arsenal
restrictions; start at 20 health; last one standing wins.
Ante -- official battle; each player will offer a skill; chosen at random by
the computer to be distributed to the winner of the match.
Quick -- official battle; you play with a random, pre-created arsenal; a good
chance to use online skills without actually having one in your
stock.
Puny -- no arsenal restrictions; max level set at 5; begin with 10 health;
best to use low aura skills because of the level cap.
Heavy -- no arsenal restrictions; start at level 5; begin with 40 health;
best to use high aura skills,
Special Environment -- no arsenal restrictions; at various times, a special
environmental crystal will appear (you can pick it up
to get rid of it's effect).
Single School -- only single-school arsenals allowed.
Highlander -- only arsenals with no duplicate skills allowed.
Puny Only -- only arsenals allowed with skills that cost less than 3 aura.
Heavy Only -- only arsenals allowed with skills that cost more than 3 aura.
KO Battle -- Defeat more opponents and you win the battle; begin with 5
health; players respawn with 5 health when killed.
**Note: Unofficial matches will not count toward your rating or toward the
scoreboard. Wins in unofficial matches will not count toward getting your
online skills.
Rating:
-------
You can choose to put rating restictions if you're hosting a match. If you
select 'with restrictions,' it will only allow players to join who have a
rating 200 above or below you to join.
Your rating is affected by the ratings of the players you play against. If
your opponent(s) has/have a high rating and you lose, your rating will go
down only a few points. If win against someone with a high rating, your
rating will skyrocket--vice versa if you're the one with the high rating.

Beginner Multiplayer Arsenal:
--------------------
*Here is an effective arsenal for players new to multiplayer battles as
suggested by Simplex:
This arsenal will be effective against most opponents on just about every
map. If it is a distance stage, use your Glacial Wall to freeze opponent's
buttons so they don't Laser spam you and it will give you an opportunity to
get close. It is usually a good idea to use Vacuum Slash first when close to
your target because it will usually break their defenses. You can then
follow up with another short-range attack.

General FAQS (01100)
============================================================================
*When to do I get to create an arsenal?
Once you reach Chapter 3, you will be given an arsenal as well as a few
skills to play with. There will be a few tutorials to get you familiar with
creating and maintaining your arsenals.
*Is this a card game? I hear 'card' terminology a lot.
Some aspects of Phantom Dust are reminiscent of card games such as Magic:
The Gathering. Your skills are sometimes referred to as 'cards' and your
arsenal is sometimes referred to as a 'deck'. In some card games, you choose
what cards you want and then you will randomly pull cards from the deck in
hopes that you will win the game -- very similar to Phantom Dust.
*I can't find a match...
Make sure you have downloaded both PD skill patches. Go to Download Content
on the Phantom Dust Live page and select the patches for download. If you
still can't find a match, try hosting one and usually someone will join you
shortly.
*How do I get the online skills?
You will receive an online skill for every 30 wins you get in an official
match (Standard, Ante, Quick). The online skills are randomly awarded. If
you get more than one skill or don't like your online skill, you can trade.
It is best if you set up this trade before with someone from a message
board/group or website.
*Should I use a jumping/rolling/cartwheeling character while playing online?
It really comes down to personal preference. Cartwheelers and rollers are
generally harder to hit with short-range attacks while jumpers can get
better vantage points.
*How can I get the one offline skill I need to complete my collection?
The best place to buy specific skills is online. New skills will show up
every time to select 'Purchase Skills.' You may have to select and back out
a few times to get the skill you want. If you do not have live, you must
enter a match and Mac will re-stock the shop when you're done.

Term Definitions (01200)
============================================================================
Phantom Dust -- strange dust particles covering the earth that can be
manipulated by a person's will.
Underground -- portion of the single player campaign when you're not
fighting and where you find your missions. You can also buy/
sell skills and arsenals, re-play past mission, edit your
arsenals, and view gameplay data.
Stage -- this is where you will fight your battles. There are seven stages
total throughout the course of the game.
Spawn Point -- where you start the battle and also where your skills
will appear.
Skills -- what you use to win missions. These include attack, defense,
erase, status, special and environmental skills. They randomly
appear as one of three capsules near your spawn point.
Arsenal -- a pack of 30 skills in which you decide which skills to use.
There are three types of arsenals: 1-school, 2-school and
3-school.
Level -- this is the total number of aura you can regenerate in order to use
your skills.
Aura -- what is used to cast skills. You will regenerate aura but only
as high as your level allows.
Aura Capsules -- needed to raise your level during battles. There are an
unlimited amount of aura capsules when creating an arsenal.
Most players include about 15 aura capsules when creating
an arsenal.
Button Mapping -- walking by a capsule, environmental crystal, or fallen
partner, and pressing A,B,X, or Y to pick it up. You can
place these things over a button that already has a skill.
Best when used with an empty button though.
Junk -- a pack of 5 random skills available for purchase both at Mac's shop
and online. Each pack of Junk costs 500 credits and more will show
up as you complete each chapter. Usually you can get skills cheaper
here but you never know what you'll get. A number of players will
buy Junk early in the single player missions but as they get near
the end, they tend to purchase specific skills.
Credits -- form of money used to purchase skills and arsenals.
Memory Box -- an item received at the end of a match in the single player
missions. It usually contains information about the game such
as skill-type information and enemy information. You can read
these at the Memory Box Terminal in the Visions HQ.
Simulator -- gives you the opportunity to replay previous missions. It is
found at the Memory Box Terminal in the Visions HQ.
Card -- a term taken from card games like Magic: The Gathering in reference
to skills.
Deck -- a term taken from card games like Magic: The Gathering in reference
to arsenals.
