2.0) All about the Hackman
###############################################################################

-----------------
2.1) Hackman Info
-----------------
The Hackman is the variant of the Owens light mech. The Hackman is one of the
fastest mechs in the game of mechassault. Even though it comes with only two
weapons, you can still use it quite effectively in the game. There are two ways
to using this mech. The first is to go in guns blazing and running around like
a mad man. To do this all you have to do is try to do figure eights or complete
circles around enemy mechs. A good idea is to either get close to enemy mechs,
or stay as far away as possible. You would preferably want to get in close as
the Cross bow missiles are short range missiles. The second strategy is to stay
back and snipe weak mechs with your Gauss Rifle. I usualy try to snipe the
weakest mech or give support fire to a teammate who is have problems killing a
mech. If you are a begginer, you should stay back far away and snipe with the
Gauss Rifle. After you get the hang of the Hackman, skip down to my alpha
attack
section to learn more advanced tactics. The Hackman also makes a very good
sniping mech; even better than the Belial.

Name: Hackman
Class: Light/Scout
Weight: 35 tons
Armor: 2946
Speed: 36
Armor Salvage: 888
Maximum Heat: 107
Cool Down Time: 11 seconds

-------------
2.2) Chassis
-------------
The Hackman is a speedy light scout mech which is mainly used for support fire.
It's incredible speed makes up for the Hackman's lack of armor. Because it is
just a light mech, it only has 2 different weapons. Like all other light mechs,
it can be knocked down quite easily. Any mech which has the Gauss Rifle or auto
cannon can knock the Hackman over for 3-4 seconds. Since the Hackman has a
gauss
rifle, it can also knock other mechs down. The Atlas, Prometheus, Ymir, and
Rag-
narock are the only mechs which it cannot knock down with its gauss rifle. The
mechs which you should watch out for are the Belial, Prometheus, Atlas,
Ragnarok
and Ymir. These guys all have autocannons and gauss rifles. You should really
try to get as close to them as possible. If you do, there is a very good chance
that their attacks will miss.

-------------
2.3) Weapons
-------------
Like I said before, the Hackman is a small mech which means it can not carry
around a lot of weapons. It's begging weapons are Crossbow missile X2 and gauss
rifle X1. This may make the mech look weak, but it if you can upgrade both
to level 3, you can easily own a Mad Cat in 2 minutes.

(Level 1 cross bow)
Damage per salvo: 87

Good Points:
-Fires 2 short range missiles
-Great attack when leveled up
-Fast reload

Bad Points:
-Short Range
-Doesn't hurt much
-Cannot lock on when enemy mechs have target jamming

(Level 2 cross bow)
Damage per salvo: 128

Good Points:
-Moderate Damage
-Fires 4 missiles
-Fairly fast reload time
-Not much homing ability

Bad Points:
-Not the strongest weapon
-Range does not increase with upgrade
-Not much homing abbility
-Cannot lock on when enemy mechs have target jamming

(Level 3 cross bow)
Damage per salvo: 158

Good Points:
-Fair ammount of damage
-Fires 6 missiles
-Moderate-fast reload time
-Harder to dodge

Bad points:
-Range does not increase with upgrade
-Not much homing ability
-Cannot lock on when enemy mechs have target jamming

(Level 1 Gauss Rifle)
Damage per shot: 222

Good Points:
-Moderate damage
-Unlimited range
-Minor splash damage

Bad Points:
-Hard to hit at close ranges
-Small beam with not a large splash damage radius
-Hard to hit enemies at long ranged when they are using Target Jamming

(Level 2 Gauss Rifle)
Damage per shot: 300

Good Points:
-Heavy damage
-5% chance of knocking enemy mech down
-Unlimited range
-Minor-Moderate splash damage
-Even if you miss the target, they will still take damage as long as it
was close to them

Bad Points:
-Hard to hit at close ranges
-Hard to hit enemies when they are at long ranges using Target Jamming

(Level 3 Gauss Rifle)
Damage per shot: 375

Good Points:
-Second strongest weapon in the game
-Unlimited range
-Giant beam hitting anything in it's path
-10% chance of knocking enemy mech down
--Even if you miss the target, they will still take damage as long as it
was close to them

Bad Points:
-None

--------------------
2.4) Special Defense
--------------------
Special defense is like a secondary move which helps mechs escape missiles
or become invisible to escape sticky situations. The Hackman has the Null
signature. This defensive move takes the Hackman off the radar and makes it
invisible. Be warned, however, that the more you move the mre visible you
become. The Null Signature lasts for abour 20-30 seconds and has around a
30 second recharge time. While invisible, you can easily sneak behind
mechs and hit them with a gauss rifle or some missiles. This is also
a good way to escape a ragnarok which is hunting you or you can use it
to get weapon upgrades without being noticed

###############################################################################
3.0) Strategy
###############################################################################
-Try to stay back behind the frontline of mechs. Use you speed to quickly get
the salvage left behind by destroyed mechs.

-If you must kill a Mad Cat, get in real close and use alpha attacks like crazy

-Always use your alpha attack. It is the only way to deal massive ammounts
of damage in a short period of time

-Circle your enemies so that they cannot target you with their PPCS or auto
cannons.

-When you can, use your null signature, hide behind a rock or building, then
hit an enemy with the gauss rifle. They will not know where you are and you
can get a good 5-6 hits in on them.

-Use buildings to your advantage. Use them for cover against missiles and
PPCs.

-Get all the upgrades you can. If you do this, you can easily take down any
mech on the field.

-Take out the weakest mech first. IF you can do this, there will be less
mechs for you to worry about.

-Help out your teammates. If you see a teammate limping twords health,
give him support fire until he gets it. In the long run he will help you
take out other mechs.

-If you get overheated, try to find some water. This helps you cool down.

###############################################################################
4.0) Alpha attacks
###############################################################################
(See the FAQ section if you don't know what an alpha attack is)

The best alpha attacks for a hack man:

(Level 1 gauss rifle) (Level 1 crossbow missile): Fire 3 salvos of missiles
then switch to gauss rifle. Repeat this process.

(Any level gauss rifle) (Level 2 or 3 crossbow missile): Fire a single
gauss rifle (can either be level 1,2, or 3) and fire 2 salvos of level 2 or
3 missiles.

These are the only 2 effective alpha attacks for the Hackman and is what I use
to get 17-3 in a team destruction game.

If you have level 3 crossbow missiles and level 3 gauss rifles, you can easily
deal 701 points of damage to a mech! That is aproximately 1/4 of another
Hackman's life!

###############################################################################
5.0 Maps
###############################################################################

---------------
5.1-River City
---------------
-If you are on red team, directly to your right you will find a perch with
missle/gauss rifle upgrades. This is a good place to snipe enemy mechs.

-You can use the buildings to help block damage from enemy attacks. You
can also hide behind them while you wait for your Null Signature to recharge.

-Use the river to cool your mech down when it is overheated.

-If you see any mechs on the bridge, you can destroy the bridge and it will
destroy the mech.

-----------------
5.2-Colloseum
-----------------
-At the center of the map are 2 gauss rifle upgrades. Get them for fully
charges
gauss rifles.

-Use the small hills for cover.

-If you see any mechs on the bridge, you can destroy the bridge and it will
destroy the mech.

-Don't step in the lava. It will seriously overheat you and will damage your
mech.

-Don't stand near the heat vents. They will overheat your mech.

-Use water for cooling down your mech.

------------------
5.3-Frosty
------------------
-Use the low visability to your advantage. Get cloaked and go behind enemies
and attack from behind.

-Not many gauss rifle upgrades here, so make sure you kill mechs with balistic
weapon upgrades.

-If anybody is on/under the ice bridges, destroy the bridges to destroy the
mech.

-Use the ramps for cover from PPCs.

-Not a lot of room to move around in, so you will get hit a lot.

------------------
5.4- Ice Pack
------------------
-Sneak around the perimater of the arena and to get behind the enemy base.

-Water can cool you down easily.

-Use the various cliffs and rock formations for cover. Try to stay away from
Mad Cats and Bowmans as they can easily corner you and do severe damage.

-Not many upgrades in this level. You will have to rely on the salvage
destroyed
mechs leave.

-Try to capture the center hill as it is a good defensive post.

-------------------
5.5-The Junkyard
-------------------

-Not a very good arena for the hackman

-Try to control the center fortof the arena as it provides good cover and you
can
get any mech which comes up your way.

-Try sniping from the center fort with gauss rifles.

-There are plenty of missile upgrades and gauss rifle upgrades.

-Stay away from the sides of the arena as you are an easy target.

6.0) FAQ
###############################################################################

Q: I thought only heavy assault mechs were good. Why do you recomend this one?
A: I recomend this one because it is a challenge to use and a very good mech
once you use it correctly. It is fast and agile and deadly.

Q: I keep getting hit by PPCs! What should I do?
A: Stay calm. Use Null Signature and get close to the mech with PPCs. He will
only hit you about 1 out of every 3 shots he fires at you.

Q: What is an alpha attack?
A: An alpha attack is something which allows you to fire all your weapon at
once.
To use an alpha attack in mechassault, you need to hold down the fire button
and
press the left trigger to change weapons. You usually don't keep pressing the
left
trigger. You press it once, wait a few seconds, then press it again to switch
to
the next weapon.

Q: What is the best map for the Hackman?
A: I personaly think Frosty or River City because of the cover the Hackman has.
The Colloseum is good because of the duel gauss rifle upgrades.
