Even though GameFaqs already has a Secrets/Codes section for Genma
Onimusha, much of the information that has been submitted, is only
partially true. In an effort to clear up any and all confusion, I

1. Introduction
|-----------------|-------------------------------------------------------|

First off, I thought I better point out that I won’t be adding any
information regarding gaining access to the Ogre Tower, or the the
Bishamon Sword. I feel that those aspects of the game aren't considered
as secrets, but rather side quest's of sort that require a bit of
additional searching. Whoever is writing a FAQ/Walkthrough, I hope they
include those details.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------
2. Unlock Easy Mode
|---------------------|---------------------------------------------------|

There's been quite alot of mixed feelings about the exact time and
method of acquiring the easy mode difficulty. Some say that dying 5
times on normal unlocks this difficulty. I have then heard others
claim that simply dying 5 times for them did not work. I believe that
simply dying five times on normal won't quite do it. I think unlocking
this mode is also based on what part of the game you are on. I unlocked
the easy difficulty after dying 5 or more times near the start of the
game. I don't think it is possible to unlock easy once you have
progressed past a certain point in the game. Mainly meaning.... if you
want that easy, you better start off early in the game. If anyone has
solid evidence that you can unlock easy at any point in the game, please
e-mail me so I can update this.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------
3. Unlock Hard Mode
|---------------------|-------------------------------------------------|

To unlock Hard Mode, you must complete the game in under three hours.
At first, doing so may seem nearly impossible to pull off. If you can
manage to beat the mini game Oni Spirits, you may have an easier time
doing this. With the help of the Ultimate mode setting, you should be
able to clear the game in well under 2 hours or less.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------
4. Unlock Kaede Extra
|-----------------------|-------------------------------------------------|

Collect all thirty Fluorites on any difficulty to unlock the Kaede Extra.
This neat little secret, is an alternate costume you can unlock for
Kaede to wear. For help finding all thirty Fluorites, check out the
FAQ I wrote on that subject.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------
5. Unlock Oni Spirits Mini Game
|---------------------------------|---------------------------------------|

To unlock the Oni Spirits mini game, you must collect a certain number
Fluorites. I finished the game my first time through with twenty-seven.
The GameFaqs code page says having anywhere from twenty to thirty
Fluroties will also yield the same result. I'm unsure about the exact
number required, but don't think it's very important as to the exact
number. As long as you collect twenty-seven, you'll be fine. Hey, and
while you at it, why not just collect all thirty? Saves you from making
a second trip.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------
6. Unlock Samanosuke Extra
|----------------------------|-------------------------------------------|

The Samanosuke Extra, is an alternate costume for Samanosuke to wear
while playing through the game. To unlock this secret, beat the game
on the Hard difficulty with a ranking of S.
Check below in the next section for the exact numbers required.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------
7. Ranking Chart
|------------------|------------------------------------------------------|

Within Genma Onimusha is a unique ranking system that allows the
players to rate their progress with a series of points. A perfect score
is thirty, and can only be achieved by scoring all available points in
three categories. The exact numbers are below.

Please take ***note*** The rank of S, is only attainable on the Hard
Difficulty Setting.

======================================
Number of hours taken to complete game
======================================
Up to 3 hours taken to complete = 10 points
3-4 hours taken to complete = 7 points
4-5 hours taken to complete = 5 points
5 or more hours taken to complete = 3 points

=======================
Number of demons killed
=======================
0-399 demons killed = 3 points
400-499 demons killed = 5 points
500-599 demons killed = 7 points
600 or more demons killed = 10 points

===========================================
Number of souls absorbed into your gauntlet
===========================================
0-34,999 souls = 3 points
35,000-44,999 souls = 5 points
45,000-54,999 souls = 7 points
55,000 or more souls = 10 points

============================
The points add up as follows
============================
Add up your points from each category above, and total them here to find
out what ranking you will receive.
0-9 points = D Ranking (Rank can be achieved on any difficulty)
10-17 points = C Ranking (Rank can be achieved on any difficulty)
18-24 points = B Ranking (Rank can be achieved on any difficulty)
25-29 points = A Ranking (Rank can be achieved on any difficulty)
30 points = S Ranking (Rank can ONLY be achieved on Hard Difficulty)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Unlock Ultimate Mode setting (for use on easy&normal difficulties)
|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|-|

To unlock the Ultimate Mode setting for use on the Easy and Normal
difficulties, successfully complete the twelve stages of the Oni Spirits
mini game, and save the completion data. You will now be able to start a
new game on either normal or easy difficulty, with the Bishamon sword,
an infinite supply of magic, ninety-nine soul absorbers, an infinite
number of normal bullets and burst bullets for the Matchlock, and an
infinite number of normal and fire arrows for use with the Bow.
Selecting to use the Ultimate Mode setting is also the easiest way to
complete the game in under three hours to gain the Hard difficulty.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
9. Unlock Ultimate Mode setting (for use on hard difficulty)
|--------------------------------------------------------------|----------|

To unlock the Ultimate Mode setting for use on the Hard difficulty,
successfully complete the game once on Hard with a rank lower than that
of S. By doing so, you will now be able to use the plethora of goodies
mentioned in the section above on Hard difficulty.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------
10. Game Over

If there are any questions, suggestions, or any of that sort, please
send them to my e-mail address at the top of the document. The only
restriction is stuff considered dumb. You know.... like things that
are already mentioned here. Don't ask me questions to things that
have already been answered.
