Version 1.00/complete walkthrough.
Edited on 4-18-05 to correct spelling errors and add links.
This is my first walkthrough. I'm also working on a couple other guides.
Feel free to email me with any questions or, to point out inaccuracies in my
walkthrough. Any suggestions on how to improve it or any tips that are not
included in this guide are welcomed. Please don't email me about grammar
mistakes, though. You are likely to find some if you look hard enough.
I will be working on a spirit list to get 100%. This version has a few extra
ghosts.
Please do not modify this guide in any way. Contact me if you would like to
add this guide to your website. This guide can only be found at
www.gamefaqs.com.,www.ign.com .
So, let's begin, shall we?
First of all, this walkthrough contains SPOILERS.
I will alert you to them as we go.
So you might be wondering, what’s different about this version?
This version of Fatal Frame is AWESOME. It's a LOT better than the PS2
version. (I love my ps2, so don't send me hate mail) Here's why. You get a
whole new First-Person Shooter mode. You get a new mode. (survival mode!) You
get an all-new ending exclusively for the XBOX, new camera modes as well as
new un-lockables. (costumes, an items shop where you can use spirit points to
purchase film, sacred waters, spirit orbs and other goodies, as well as a few
other things.) The graphics and sounds are all newly-enhanced, making this
game very much worth buying it again if you own it on PS2. Bling Bling.
This is still one of the creepiest survival-horror games out there.
Especially with the new sound enhancements and graphics. The combat in this
game is much smoother than Fatal Frame 1 and in my personal opinion, the PS2
version. (still love my ps2) The controls in the XBox version make it much
smoother to maneuver around enemies and the trigger makes getting those hard
to get shots a breeze.
DIFFICULTY MODES

The following is taken from the official booklet that comes with the game,
for those of you that bought the game used and didn't get one...Or maybe the
dog ate it? Little brother made paper airplanes out of it? Heh. This section
was written by TECMO/100% Games and is copywrited.
THE GAME SETTING
The vanished village, "All God's Village."
This village is said to have once stood in the forest,
deep in the mountains. This forest is now due to be
lost with the creation of a new dam.
The story goes, that on the eye of a special festival,
the village suddenly vanished, leaving the forest
wreathed in a thick fog.
Many also say that if you should happen to
get lost in this forest, you will be spirited away
to this lost village.
The village where the crimson butterflies dance.
The village held forever in the grip of a
never-ending night.
PROLOGUE
Mio and Mayu, twin sisters, are visiting their childhood home.
This spot, a secret hideaway for the pair, is due to be swallowed
by a lake come the end of the summer.
Lost in her memories, Mio finally raises her head to find
that Mayu has vanished. Looking around, Mio spots her sister
following a crimson butterfly deep into the forest.
Mayu runs through the forest as though led on by the
fluttering insect. As she runs, her fleeting form begins to be
overlaid by that of a woman dressed in white.
Chasing after her sister, Mio suddenly finds herself alone
on a foggy mountain road.
Carried on the wind, a sad song floats to her ears. Then, she starts to see
lights through the gaps in the trees.
As though accepting their unspoken invitation,
Mio follows the rows of festival lights.
However, when the dense forest opens into a clearing,
it is Mayu who is standing there, alone, surrounded by
countless crimson butterflies.
"Mayu?"
Responding to Mio's call, Mayu slowly turns.
The crimson butterflies dance away, as one.
"The Lost...Village..."
Spreading there before the twins, crouching in fog and darkness,
lays a mysterious village...

Camera
The camera will end up being your best friend. It's not just the ONLY weapon
in the game but can be used to take pictures of different types of spirits,
harmful and harmless which will earn you spirit points. You should try to
fight all of the enemies to earn points and spirit orbs as well so that you
can power up your camera. You will also find Power-up lenses throughout your
journey. These add different attributes to your camera that can also be
powered-up with spirit orbs and points so try not to run from those ghosts!
There are various types of power-up lenses and they each effect ghosts in
different ways. They require spirit power to be used, each lens requiring a
different amount of spirit power. The filament glows blue when you encounter
any kind of harmless or immobile ghosts. It will glow red if you encounter a
dangerous spirit.
Spirit Orbs- Orbs used to upgrade your camera. They are found scattered
around the village as well as after battles.
Basic Camera Functions- To upgrade your basic functions you need a fixed
amount of points.
Lev 1-3
Range- Increases the camera's capture circle. This is helpful when dealing
with multiple enemies as well as teleporting enemies.
Accumulation- Increases the number of spirit power you can have therefore
increases the number of uses for the power-up lenses.
Sensitivity- Increases damage the camera does to ghosts as well as range.
Power-Up Lenses
Evade- Allows you to escape a spirits grasp.
Slow- Reduces the speed of an enemy for a short time
Carve- A powerful photo that pushes ghosts away. Using it in conjunction with
a shutter chance will make the move even more powerful.
See- Useful against a teleporting ghost. Allows you to see the ghost for a
longer period of time.
Blast- I loved this one. Blasts an enemy away from you and does a lot of
damage. I would suggest upgrading this as soon as you get a chance.
Stun- Stuns a ghost causing it to stop attacking for a second.
Stop- Stops a spirit from attacking for a short period of time.
Track-Tracks to location of spirits.
Crush-Throws an enemy back.
Additional Camera Functions
These functions are added to the camera just by picking them up. The effects
of these are represented by different Japanese characters.
Equipped Functions
These can be added to the camera by equipping them. Again, the effect of each
one is represented by a symbol. These can be unequipped at any time.
Measure- See the health points of ghosts during a battle.
Zoom- Allows you to enlarge or shrink the image in your camera view.
Switch- Allows you to switch from one power-up to another during battle.
Alarm - An alarm goes off when you can make a Fatal Frame shot.
Shot Types
Zero Shot- Wait until the enemy gets really close and the capture circle
turns red and quickly shoot.
Double/Triple Shot- Get two or three spirits in the capture circle and shoot.
Fatal Frame- Practice at getting good at this move. It will make those final
bosses a lot easier. It's very difficult to do with certain ghosts. Wait
until the ghost is extremely close. (almost too close) The words "Fatal
Frame" will appear in the capture circle. The capture circle will be red.
Shoot. Repeat. When you get the "instant" upgrade, it notifies you when you
can get this shot by flashing red. If you shoot again after you've shot a
fatal frame, it will create a combo which gives you lots of points.
Tips:
During battle while in camera mode, you can press the "a" button to switch
between powers.
Upgrade your camera as soon as you can. This can be achieved easily if you
know how. First of all, try to get core shots during encounters. There are
certain types to get and if done right, a lot of points are involved. (Fatal
Frame/Zero-shot/core shot/double shot(2 ghosts at once)/triple shot(3 ghosts
at once)/combos)
Film
There are several different types of film that you can use for your camera.
Type 7 film- This film sucks but it's unlimited. It's the only unlimited film
in the game so take advantage of that. Use it for ghosts that are immobile
and or not harmful. If you have enough room to maneuver around, you can use
it to fight enemies but I would not suggest you use it in a small space
because it is very weak and loads very slowly. If you have to use it to
fight, try to get in as many core shots as possible. I used it a lot and
stockpiled my good film types for harder enemies.
Type 14 film- It is NOT unlimited. You find this film in various places
around the village. This film is decent. It has slightly greater damage than
type 7 and it loads quicker.
Type 61 film- Very rare. You will not find a lot of this film. Use it
sparingly! I would highly suggest that you save this film for the really
tough ghosts or multiple enemies.
Type 90 film- Extremely Rare!! This film is very powerful. It deals a great
amount of damage and loads very quickly. Save it for the final boss. You will
need it, trust me!
Type Zero film- This is the mother of all film types. You will not find this
easily and you won't find a lot of it. Use it wisely! It will kill an enemy
instantly with one snap if used correctly. It has high exorcismal power but
it loads very slowly.
Another tip. Not all the items are visible. You will find a lot of items
including film, health items, stone mirrors, orbs and lenses. Look everywhere
and tap that X button! Also, searching areas that you have already searched
earlier is a good idea. Items sometimes re-appear in areas. Be careful,
though. Spirits sometimes ambush you in places that you have already cleared
and revisit.
Also, save your stone mirrors. You can only carry one at a time and up to
chapter 6, I had only found two! If you die, restart from your last save and
re-try so that you don't use your stone mirror. With some ghosts, if they
kill you, your stone mirror will not work. I will alert you to these foes.
You will get a lot of healing items, however, use them wisely as when you
reach chapter 6 you don't get a lot of items and you will notice your stock
starts to deplete very quickly now that you are fighting stronger foes. Try
to use your items sparingly for the final chapters of the game. I wouldn’t
use any of your sacred waters until chapter 7 or greater. Your herbal
medicines will work just fine and you get a whole lot more of them.
Spirit Stones and the Radio
You will find spirit stones all over the village. You can put them in your
radio and hear a message from a spirit. Usually you will hear the spirits
last thoughts.
Mayu's charm
You will get this early in the game. If you check it periodically, it will
have a different message, sometimes with very useful information.
Mio's Notebook
Check this periodically to see different clues throughout the game.

Walkthrough
(scene)
Chapter 1-The lost village
Forest
(scene)
Mayu has disappeared. Get used to it as it happens a lot.
Now that you have control of Mio, follow your sister down the path. There
aren't any items here so just run towards the lights you will see at the top
of the hill.
(scene)
Misono Hill
Look on your map and note this area. There is an alter in the center and a
save lamp. Use it if you want to. After you're done, go to the path to the
right and follow it until you see something flashing on the ground. Pick up a
black bag containing a news clipping, a small news clipping, and a photo of a
couple.
Continue down the path.
As you reach the village, you see a spirit walking in the distance. Nothing
to worry about. Keep moving forward until you reach the Osaka House on your
left.
(scene)
You automatically enter it.
The Osaka House
Walk to the door right in front of you.
(scene)
If you examine the lattice on the left before you go to the door, you'll see
a kimono room. Note this area for later.
(If you're in hard or nightmare mode, snap a picture of "waiting woman".)
When you get to the door you get another scene.
Creepy, huh? You have no weapons just yet, but no worries. Nothing will
attack you.
After the scene, check your map. You are in the 1st floor Sunken Fireplace
Room.
1st Floor Sunken Fireplace Room
Pick up the gleaming object here. It's the woman’s notebook 1. Go to the door
to the right of the entrance if you're facing it. It's the room that you saw
the spirit in. This is the Kimono room that I had you note earlier.
Kimono Room
Enter the room and walk around the hanging kimono. You will see something
gleaming on a nightstand. It's the woman’s notebook 2. To the right of this
item is a room. As you enter it, search the boxes to the right to find a
hidden sacred water. Save your game at the red lamp on the left side of the
room. Exit this room.
Big Tatami Room
Go into the door right in front of where you found the notebook. This is the
Big Tatami Room. On the left of the door, hidden in the darkness is an
herbal medicine. You will also see a woman’s spirit. Walk around the net and
examine the lump on the floor. Pick up Woman’s Notebook 4. Exit the room.
Corridor
Go to the small hallway across from the entrance to this house. You'll see a
tattered cloth hanging above it. Follow this hallway straight until you see a
wandering spirit saying " I kept searching for you. " If you have your camera
(if you've beaten the game previously, you will have your camera) take a
picture of "walks inside". Follow her. This is the back room.
Back Room
Pick up the woman’s notebook 3. Leave the room. As you round the corner you
see the spirit of the woman. This time she says "why?" If you have your
camera, take a picture of "vanishes at altar".
When you get the intersection you will see stairs to your left and a short
hallway to the right. Go right and search the wall beside the lit candle.
Enter the Family Altar Room.
Family Altar Room
Before picking up the gleaming objects, walk directly across from the door
you entered and tap X. You will find the woman’s notebook 5. Pick up the
flashlight from the table. You will also pick up a book on camera obscura
pointers. Read through this book.
(scene)
You have found the camera obscura! Thank goodness for that because you are
about to encounter your first spirit. Don't panic, it's not a battle. Before
examining the door that all that noise was coming from, go into the adjoining
room and pick up the herbal medicine. Go to the door and open it.
(scene)
As soon as you regain control of Mio, press the b button and quickly snap a
picture of "door woman". Yay! Your first picture. Now that you have the
camera, you'll see the camera filament in the bottom corner of the screen. If
it starts to glow, you'll know there's a spirit close by. Always try to keep
an eye on it and be ready to take a picture. (the filament light will be blue
for a stationary/harmless spirit and red for an enemy)
(scene)
The spirit has left so exit the altar room. Remember those stairs? Time to go
up them. When you get to the door Mayu tells you that "someone’s near".
Great! Examine the door to see that it's locked. You need to find the key for
this. Go down the stairs and back into the sunken fireplace room.
Attempt to leave the house.
(scene)
OH ,Good! You're locked in!
Notice the filament on your camera is glowing blue? Good. The spirit of the
woman is in front of the big tatami room. Snap the picture of "vanishes at
door". Look at the door again to see a bunch of creepy faces. Take a picture
and you will get an image of someplace else. This is pretty easy but for
those of you that are wondering where to go, It's the back room where you
first saw the spirit of the woman. Go there and take a picture of the coal
brazier. You will see an image of an injured man. As soon as this happens you
will hear someone say "Don't come near me." Aim toward the deck and snap a
photo of "man on deck".
Big Tatami Room
Return to the sunken fireplace room and go to the tatami room. It's unlocked
now. Enter the room. You find nothing here so attempt to leave. When you do
a panel falls from the wall and something gleams. Let's check it out. It's
the ginger key. As soon as you pick it up a spirit of the woman saying "I
missed you." walks through the wall. Snap a picture of "woman behind net".
Exit the room and as soon as you get out another spirit appears to your right
on the stairs. Snap the picture of "the stair climber." Follow her up the
stairs. When you get to the top she appears in front of the locked door. Snap
a picture of the "standing woman". Enter the door using the ginger key.
Servants Room
As soon as you enter the servants room, you'll see the spirit of "the
beckoner" saying "the lost village". Snap her picture quickly. Don't follow
her just yet. First search the left side of the room. There are boxes and
such. Close inspection and furious tapping of X earns you an herbal medicine
and type 61 film. Save this film for later. Trust me on this. Search the
right side of the room for the woman’s notebook 6. Now go into the room the
spirit went. On the left side you will see a large kimono. Next to it on the
ground you will find the woman’s notebook 7. As you continue to search
another spirit appears. Snap a picture of "the beckoner". Before you pick up
the gleaming object, prepare to fight your first spirit.
Pick up the folklorists note 1 from the bookshelf and when you are
ready ,pick up the gleaming object which is the final notebook, woman’s
notebook 8.
(scene)
BATTLE-THE WANDERER
She is called the wanderer and she's really pissed off about being trapped in
the village. She's not that hard and you won't need to use any special film
for her. Use your unlimited type 7 and practice getting those Fatal Frame
shots we talked about. She will try to hurt Mayu so don't let her. She
teleports slowly. I waited for her to go toward Mayu and then pulled off a
fatal frame. Three shots and she was dead.
Chapter 2- Twin Shrine Maidens
After you defeat the wanderer you'll get a short scene and then you'll wake
up and find your sister has disappeared. I know you're shocked. You will also
find some more items. On the floor where you woke up is an Argonite that the
spirit dropped. It is a stone for the spirit stone radio that you don't have
yet. You also find a spirit orb which you will use to upgrade your camera.
Read the short tutorial and pick up the gleaming object on the dresser. It's
the spirit radio and a book of pointers. Read it and exit the room.
(scene)
You will navigate Mayu now. You will not be attacked at all so just chase the
crimson butterflies. As soon as you see the spirit you will be Mio again.
Sunken Fireplace Room
Go downstairs and prepare for a battle.
BATTLE-MAN IN THE DARK X'S 2
As soon as you reach the sunken fireplace room you will be attacked by two
spirits. You can fight the spirit closest to you first, the other will not
attack until you go up the step so take advantage of that and kick his ass.
He does not teleport so let him get close and pull of a couple of Zero shots
or fatal frames, Repeat on the second spirit, as he is identical to the
first. After the battle, look on the floor by the tatami room to find some
camera equipment and film. You get the "slow" power-up lens and
the "measure" equipped function. Return to the kimono room.
Kimono Room
You see a gleaming object on the ground. It's herbal medicine. After you
pick it up you will hear panting and creepy noises.
BATTLE-WOMAN IN BOX
Look in the room on the right to see a woman crawling out of a chest. Ugh!
You will have to fight her. The "woman in the box" doesn't have a lot going
for her. She's creepy, she's ugly and she's one scary bitch. She also
teleports behind you and lunges. She's not that hard to beat, though. Just
get about three zero shots or a couple fatal frames and she’s done for. After
the battle, pick up the Moonstone and the spirit orb from the room she
originally crawled out from. You can listen to the radio with the stones now.
Very creepy stuff. to find village report 1-4. That's all there is to do
here.
Save your game. It's time to look for your pain-in-the-ass sister. Exit the
house. In the entrance you will see a gleaming object. It's Mayu's charm. You
can listen to it on the radio. Check back with the charm often. It changes
and says different stuff.
Exit the house.
All Gods Village
Once outside the house, follow the same path that you did as Mayu. When you
see your sister, follow her down some stone stairs.
Kiryu-Tachibana
(scene)
After the scene your filament will be blue. Ignore the door for now and
Quickly turn around to see two villagers spirits. They will attack you.
BATTLE-VILLAGER X'S 2
I used type 7 film on them and tried to get in as many double shots as I
could. I let them get close enough that my capture circle turned red, shot,
exited camera mode, ran away and turned around and did it again. The pole
bearer was more difficult for me. I had to get close to him, wait until he
raised his pole to hit me and then zero shot/fatal frame him. Do what's
easiest for you.
After you defeat them, examine the gate. You see that there is a spirit.
Snap a picture to see a photo of three crimson butterflies. Examine the gate
again to find that it is locked and require two pieces of a key to open.
Search to the right of the door near the tree to find hidden herbal
medicine . On the left of the door near the stone you will find another
herbal medicine.
The stairs nearest the gate leads to a locked door. Round the corner and
return up the stairs. When you reach the top you will notice a stone ramp and
a door on the right. Go inside the door. This is the sliding screen room of
the kiryu house. On your right is an open room with boxes. There aren't any
items to pick up here. Avoid the door on your left for now. Instead, walk
straight ahead and pick up the gleaming object. It's an herbal medicine. Go
upstairs.
Upstairs you will see a door on the left. It leads to another locked door.
Ignore this door for now. Go right down the hallway and enter the 2nd floor
sliding screen room. Look for a gleaming object. It is a camera obscura
upgrade, "stun". Don't go anywhere just yet. You are about to fight a
spirit. Make sure you upgrade your camera, that you have at least 3/4 health
and get ready to battle "broken neck woman".
BATTLE-BROKEN NECK WOMAN
Go to the gleaming object on the desk. It's an herbal medicine. As soon as
you pick it up, broken neck woman comes from the wall and attacks. She does
not teleport. She is however, a huge pain in the ass. Try to get as many
close shots as possible without letting her grab you. If she does, she will
take 1/4 to 1/2 of your health. For this reason, I suggest shooting her,
getting out of camera mode and running to the other side of the room and
repeating this. It helps to have your "stun" equipped.
Once you have defeated her, return to the area that she first appeared.
Examine the bookshelf that she came from to get the folklorists note 2. Go
downstairs.
Remember the door near the entrance that I told you to ignore? That's where
you need to go now.
Projector Room
It's the projector room. As soon as you enter the projector starts. Stand
there and watch the film if you want to. It's really creepy and weird.
Examine the projector and take the film reel. There isn't anything else to do
here for now so it's time to leave this house. That would be a great idea,
but broken neck woman has other plans for you.
BATTLE-BROKEN NECK WOMAN
As you try to leave the projector room, you are ambushed by her once again.
The best thing to do is run back into the projector room. There is plenty of
room to run around in there and she takes a few seconds to follow you. Get
ready to fight her. Use the same strategy as before. Make sure you have
plenty of health.
Once she’s defeated, for real this time? (notice you didn't get an orb?
Hmm!) you can exit this house.
Head back towards the direction of the Osaka house. You will see those
crimson butterflies again. You know what to do. Follow them. When you see
your filament turn blue, look for the spirit. (Don't forget to switch back to
type 7 film.) It will be "frozen man". Keep following the crimson butterflies
until you get to a save lantern. Save if you want to and go into the small
gate on the left of the shed near the butterflies.
(scene)
Don't be afraid. He is friendly. After the scene, take his picture to get the
photo of the "trapped boy". His name is Itsuki and he does not vanish and
will give you hints if you get lost. For now, examine the statue near
Itsuki. Snap a photo of it to see an image of *gasp* crimson butterflies!
After you attempt to leave the area, the he tells you to come back if you
need help. How sweet.
So, now we know that the keys are hidden in the various statues around the
village. Look at your map. Between the Kiryu house and the Osaka house you
will see a save lantern. Go there now. Near the save lantern is a guardian
stone. Examine it to find some type 14 film. If you look further ahead you
will see the crimson butterflies floating around another statue. Be advised
that the second you examine it, you will be attacked.
Load up some type 7or14 film and get ready.
BATTLE-MAN IN DARK X'S 3
Examine the statue to find one of the keys. (statue key R)
You will be attacked by "man in the dark". He's really easy. He doesn't
teleport and he only takes 3 shots to kill with type 14 or 5-6 with type 7.
Do what you want to do. As soon as you kill him, two more men in the dark
attack from behind. Kill them. If you don't, they'll ambush you later on.
Cross the bridge .
(scene)
Follow the priests up the stairs. The other path is a dead end. When you get
to the top of the stairs , pick up the gleaming object. It's a sacred water.
I was attacked by the men in the dark again. You may not be, but be prepared
just in case. Your filament will be blue. Look to the right side of the
shrine to take a photo of the "shrine shadow". Go inside the shrine.
To the left of the altar is a spirit orb. Yay for that. Upgrade that camera.
The battles only get harder from here on out. Examine the altar to see an
old mirror enshrined in front of a crimson butterfly picture. Go to the right
of the altar and go through the opening. Pick up the sacred water. Go towards
the exit. Before you leave, look to the right of the door near the clay pots
to find a hidden herbal medicine. Leave the shrine. Go back to the village.
You can save your game near the Osaka house if you want to.
Time to find the other part of the gate key. This will be a breeze now that
you've gotten most of your exploring/fighting out of the way. (at least for
this area, anyways.)
Remember the path that brought you to the village? Remember the area I told
you to make note of? (Misono Hill) Go there now. If you don't remember where
it is, look on the map for the first red save lantern that you used. It's on
the hill near the stone altar. Go there now. As you get ready to take the
path leading up to the hill you're heading to, stop at the guardian statue
near the Osaka house and pick up hidden type 14 film. When you get to the
stone altar on misono hill you will see a guardian statue with fluttering
crimson butterflies. Save your game before examining it.
Examine the statue to find the second and final piece of the key. (twin
statue key L)
BATTLE-VILLAGER X'S 3
As soon as you pick it up you will be attacked by three villager spirits.
They are just like the villagers that you fought previously except there are
three. It's an easy battle. You have a large area to navigate in and they do
not teleport. When you are finished teaching them a lesson, pick up the
gleaming item. It's a spirit orb. Use it to upgrade your camera.
Now you can unlock the gate. Head there now.
When you get to the village, near the Osaka house you will get a scene.
(Scene)
Don't worry, the mob won't come back. Just continue to the stone stairs that
take you to the gate.
Before you unlock the gate, make sure your camera is upgraded. Equip the Stun
power-up and make sure you have type 14 film equipped. Check and make sure
you have full health.
Unlock the gate and enter.
Before you get on the bridge, check to Mio's left near the water to find an
herbal medicine.
BATTLE-SUNKEN WOMAN
As soon as you get on the bridge, SLOWLY walk forward until you see your
filament turn blue and hear whispering. Look to the right of the bridge in
the water to snap a picture of "floating woman".
(scene)
As soon as you do this you get attacked by a spirit. She is "sunken woman"
and she's pretty pissed off about it. This one's different because she floats
above you, and then lunges forward. If you time it just right you can get off
some Fatals/Zero Shots. If you do, it only takes three. After you shoot her
she will teleport. Use your filament light to find her location. She floats,
lunges, dives into the water and teleports. Sometimes, after she dives into
the water, she will go underneath you and grab your legs so keep moving. It
should be a quick battle. After you've defeated her, pick up the gleaming
object on the bridge. It's a green crystal and a spirit orb. After you pick
up your goodies, follow your blue filament to the hole in the bridge. Aim at
the hole to snap a picture of the "drowned woman". Follow the bridge to the
end and enter Kurosawa.
Kurosawa
As soon as you open the gate, snap a picture of "bloody kimono".
You are now in Kurosawa 1st Floor Grounds. On your left is a save. Upgrade
your camera with the orb you just acquired and listen to the green crystal on
your radio. You hear the drowning woman's last moments. To the right of the
house is a spirit orb. Upgrade and Save your game. Enter the 1st floor
Entrance.
(scene)
Chapter 3-The repentance
Oh, great. You have no flashlight and it appears that this is a very bad
place. This level is tougher than the previous two, and a lot scarier. Let's
not dwell on that, though. Make sure your camera has type 7 film. Move
forward slowly and be ready. A spirit will appear behind you. Snap a picture
of the "priest behind".
Head down the hallway. When you near the end you hear a voice say "Kusabi is
coming". Sounds like a warning to me.( When you get the ritual tome later on
in the game, you'll find that a "kusabi" is an outsider that is made into a
buddha and offered into the hellish abyss. The more pain inflicted on the
kusabi, the better. )
The door on the right is locked. Seems you need a butterfly key for it. Go to
the door on your left.
Antechamber
As soon as you open the door you see a spirit kneeling on the floor. Walk
around the kimono and toward the spirit, not too close though. When you get
close to him, he disappears. Snap a picture of "the terrified man". Search
the drawers near where the spirit was to get herbal medicine and type 14
film. There is a gleaming object on the ground towards another door. It's
the "instant" function for the camera obscura. This detects the Fatal Frame
of the spirit and signals you by making the light in the viewfinder flash
red. This makes getting that special shot a lot easier. You're finished with
this room so switch your film to type 14 and head to the south door in this
room.
You are now Mayu. You have to run straight ahead to the end of the walkway
and around the corner. Don't worry, you cannot be harmed. Run to the first
room to your right. (white sliding-panel doors) This is the Great Hall. You
will see a woman surrounded by crimson butterflies. Run toward her to end the
scene to become Mio again. Remember the way Mayu went because that's what
you're going to have to do. One exception, you will have to fight a couple
spirits AND avoid a very deadly one as well. Let's get started. Load your
type 14 film and make sure you have full health.
Exit the Antechamber and get in camera mode. Slowly move forward until you
see the spirit.
BATTLE-LIMBO MAN
This is "limbo man". He's pretty easy, especially with your new camera
upgrade. When the battle is over, go to the short passage to your left to see
the bloody handprints and something shutting the door. If you try to open the
door, it says it's being held shut. How rude!
BATTLE-LIMBO WOMAN
Head back to the main hallway. You will be attacked by "limbo woman". She's
pretty hard and she teleports. She likes to hide in the walls and then lunge
at you, flailing her stumps about screaming about her missing arms. This
should be no problem if you're paying attention to your filament light and
moving around. Defeat her and continue forward to the room Mayu went in. Just
past the room is a spirit orb. Pick it up and upgrade. Check your health.
Before you enter The great hall. Take a deep breath and prepare yourself.
This part is really freaky.
The Great Hall
As soon as you get in front of the door you hear insane laughter. Awesome. Go
in the door. Slowly walk toward the gleaming object. It's flourite. Get in
camera mode and slowly scan the room for another gleaming object. Don't move
until you spot it. As soon as you do, exit camera mode and pick up the sacred
water. Go to your map. Locate the door in this room that is the North East
door. It's the only way to escape. (the other room is a storage closet but it
may as well be a coffin if you go there by mistake) Make sure you know the
exact location of this door. Walk towards the door.
(scene)
ALERT! YOU CAN NOT BATTLE THIS SPIRIT. ONE TOUCH WILL KILL YOU INSTANTLY
Run! Run! Run! To the NORTH EAST door! Do not let that thing touch you or YOU
DIE INSTANTLY! As soon as you get to the door , tap x and run forward. You
are safe. The spirit will not follow you.
Whew! That was close!
Once outside the door, look on Mio's left for a stone mirror. Now go on the
right and head up the wooden steps. You will see Mayu above you. I could
never get her picture but I know it can be done. Go all the way up and save
at the red lantern that is to the right of the wooden door before going
through it. You can upgrade and listen to your radio as well.
Kurosawa 2nd floor
Guest Room Hallway
Head down the hallway. The door on your left is locked so continue to the
door at the end.
Guest Room
Check the drawers for some type 61 film. Check the bookshelf for the
folklorists notebook 3. There isn't anything else to do here so go through
the Northern door.
Flickering Room
Don't worry, nothings going to attack you. Check the drawers for herbal
medicine. Examine the door. Take a picture of it to see a photo of bloody
handprints. Remember that place? It's in the passage near the Great Hall
where you had to run for your life. Good deal, you get to dodge the crypt
keeper again. Examine the door to see that you need to find a key for it. You
also hear laughing and mumbling on the other side.
Head back the way you came until you get back to the save lamp. Save your
game! At the save lantern, aim up and snap a picture of "unrequited".Go
downstairs and back to the room with the spirit that will kill you with one
touch. Look at your map and make sure you know where to go. The thing is
still in there. It is the Western door. Run and do not stop until you get
through that door. Again, the ghost will not follow.
Now that you are safe, head down the walkway towards the short corridor. On
the way there you will encounter the "fleeing villager". Snap his picture
before he runs off. Head to the short corridor that is on your right where
you first saw the bloody handprints. As you get there you will encounter
another spirit. Meet " The Dragger". Take it's picture and go to the door
near the bloody handprints. As you get there, the door opens for you.
Blood-stained room
Notice the gleaming object on the ground. It's the "blast" power-up lens.
It's awesome so equip it asap.
You're about to have to battle in this very small room so get ready before
you do anything else. Examine the dresser for an herbal medicine. A spirit
is opening and closing the door. Snap a photo of it to release the spirits of
limbo man and woman. They shut the door on you.
BATTLE-LIMBO MAN AND LIMBO WOMAN
You have a very small space to move around in. The man is pretty easy. Limbo
woman teleports through walls and appears behind you. Plus, she screams about
her missing arms which is annoying and creepy at the same time. Keep an eye
on your health and you should do fine. When you defeat them, they drop the
diamond stack key. The door that they shut is still sealed but they were
kind enough to open the other door for you. Outside of the door you will pick
up a faintly glowing crystal and a spirit orb. Use the orb to upgrade your
blast ability and listen to the radio to find out about "the kusabi" and
because the ritual failed that the village will be swallowed in "darkness".
Guess what you get to do AGAIN. That's right. You get to visit that bitch
that kills you with one touch. You know what to do. Run like hell through
that room to the North-East door and head back to the flickering room. You
can save on the way, but you don't need my permission so do what you want.
When you enter the guest room you'll encounter a spirit. Snap a photo of the
spirit " turns head" and pick up the gleaming object.
(scene)
You'll get the folklorists notebook 4.
Enter the flickering room. When you enter a dead woman's body appears on the
floor. It's okay, she's not going to attack you, yet. Use the diamond stack
key on the door and enter the doll stand room.
Chapter 4-Forbidden Ritual
Doll Stand Room
(scene)
Now that you are reunited with your darling sister, search the room. You will
see a gleaming object on the floor. It is the "butterfly diary" and a photo
of the warped twins. Go to the shelf with the dolls and take a picture. You
will see an image of dolls that is different from the present arrangement.
You have to find some more dolls heads, so with nothing else to do, exit
this room.
Flickering room
BATTLE-WOMAN IN BOX
Be ready when you get into the flickering room. Remember the dead woman?
Turns out, it's the "woman in box" that you encountered earlier and guess
what? She's gonna attack you now. Get your type 14 film. Make sure your blast
power-up is equipped and that you have full health. Ready?
First thing, you have to protect your crackhead sister. Don't let the spirit
harm her or it's game over for both of you. She will try her best to get
Mayu. She teleports here and there and makes it tough to determine where
she'll appear. Try to keep Mayu in a corner out of the way. If she gets
scared she will freeze and if she's blocking your way where you can't get
around her, she's done for. After you defeat the spirit, pick up the gleaming
object. It's the twin doll heads.
Go back to the doll stand room.
Doll Stand Room
Go to the table with the dolls and use the twin doll heads.
This is a puzzle. The idea is to move the dolls on the bottom shelf to the
top shelf. It's difficult to explain but this diagram should help.
Doll Placement
There are six shelves that hold dolls and some junk. Ignore the bottom two.
You can't move any of that junk.
On the fourth shelf from the top, you'll see two headless dolls in orange.
These dolls need to be on the top shelf. You have one minute to complete this
puzzle. The diagram below should help you solve it fairly easily.
Diagram
X=WHERE THE TWIN DOLLS SHOULD GO
O= MOVABLE DOLLS
S= SPACE
T= TWIN DOLLS IN ORANGE
X X
O O O O
O O S O
T O T O
There are several solutions to this puzzle. Just try it a couple of times and
you'll figure it out. Don't let the timer discourage you. You can solve this
in just over 20 seconds or less.
After you solve it you will get the butterfly key. Return to the flickering
room and go through it to the Guest room. As soon as you enter, look forward
in camera mode at the picture in front of you. You should see an arm hanging
there. Walk forward. Limbo woman just made you wet yourself, didn't she? It's
okay, me too. This was only for scare factor. She won't attack you here.
Pick up the gleaming object. It's the Kurosawa House Map and the folklorists
notes 6.
Exit this room into the hallway. As you round the corner, you'll see a
spirit. Snap a picture of "talking man".
Exit the house onto the balcony. Save your game.
Head down the stairs toward the courtyard. As you do, a spirit will appear
behind you. Snap a picture of "calling man". Head to the bottom and notice
your filament is blue. Snap a picture of "garden woman". Now walk around to
the left side of the courtyard. Search the newly uncovered dragon statue for
camera power-up "evade".
Check your health status and make sure you have type 14 film. You could use
type 7, it's just going to take a really long time. Do what's best for you.
Ready to enter the great hall again? Me either. Heh. No worries. The one
hit wonder isn't here anymore.
(scene)
Exit into the hallway. You will hear a woman say "I don't want to kill
anymore". I don't want her to either.
BATTLE-LIMBO MAN/LIMBO WOMAN
You will be attacked by limbo man again. *yawn* Kick his sorry ass and take
the gleaming object. It's a spirit orb. Upgrade. Follow the hallway back to
the Antechamber. Mayu starts mumbling like an idiot about having to get to
the ritual. Sigh. Go to the Entrance and try to leave. The door is locked. A
spirit appears behind you. Snap a picture of "behind cloth". Go back down
the short corridor and unlock the door on the right with the butterfly key.
Storage Room
(This area is full of spirits of children. They are hard to photograph
because they are so quick. Feel free to email me with tips on how to capture
them quickly. )
Take the sacred water from the grandfather clock. Take the herbal medicine
from the pile of boxes. A spirit will open the door. Quickly snap a picture
of "child at door".
Exit the room to the cloth hallway and pick up the gleaming object. It's type
14 film. Snap a picture of "fading child". Walk slowly to snap a picture of
the "cut-in child". Follow the hallway to the end. Examine the door. It's
locked and you need a diamond cut key for it. Return to the storage room and
go up the stairs.
Partition Screen Room
Search the drawers for the ceremony masters note 3. Check on the left for
some type 14 film. Look for a hole in the floor on the left to see an
gleaming object caught in a spiders web. You cannot reach it. When you walk
away a spirit appears. Snap a picture of "peeking child".
Return downstairs to see a crimson ball fall from the ceiling. Pick it up
and return upstairs.
Partition Screen Room
Drop the ball through the hole in the floor. The ball will push the gleaming
object out and fall in the storage room. Return downstairs again and pick up
the gleaming object. It's the diamond cut key.
Return to the cloth hallway and go to the door at the very end. Use the key
and enter. This is the warehouse.
Warehouse
You will encounter a spirit immediately. Snap a picture of the "warehouse
checker". Don't follow him just yet. Search the barrels in the alcove for
some type 61 film. A spirit will come from the floor and grab Mayu. This is
not a battle. Just turn around and snap a picture of "clinging shadow".
After you get the picture he will let go and disappear. Now, go where the
warehouse checker went.
Cell
Quickly snap a picture of the "captured man". Notice the gleaming object.
It's the folklorists notes 8. Examine the cell door. You need two keys for
this one. Great. One is light and another shadow.
Underground Cellar
Go back toward where the clinging shadow appeared and follow the hallway down
the stairs. This place looks like bad news. And, it is.
BATTLE-VIELED PRIEST
Prepare to fight the veiled priest. Aside from being really annoying with
all his chanting and begging you to "accept your fate", he's pretty tough. I
beat him using type 14 film. If you stay away from him and shoot him before
he can get to Mayu, you'll be fine. He teleports and throws skulls at you and
Mayu. Defeat him and afterwards you get a shiny new spirit orb. You know what
to do with it. There is a save lamp in this room. Save your game before you
do anything else. You are about to fight the priest again in a minute and
this time will be a lot harder. You can check the stairs near the save
lantern to see that the door is locked. You need a hammer design key. Leave
the underground cellar and return to the cloth hallway.
Cloth Hallway
When you get near the double doors in the cloth hallway a spirit appears.
Snap a picture of the "ritual pusher". He disappears into the doors. They
were previously locked, but now you can enter. Prepare for battle. You will
be fighting the priest here.
BATTLE-VIELED PRIEST
1st Floor Family Altar Room
When you enter this room, the priest will attack you. He's still chanting
about accepting your destiny and to keep it interesting, adds that he will
not let you get away. We'll see about that. Fight him the same way you did
before. Be wary of his flying skull attacks. He will try his best to get Mayu
so protect her. You shouldn't have too much trouble with him. Try to get as
many close-ups as possible. They inflict a lot of damage. He will hide in the
walls and shoot at you and Mayu and he also becomes invisible and attacks
Mayu. Pay attention to your filament light and track his location as soon as
you can.
When you've defeated him, he drops a glowing red crystal for your radio and a
spirit orb.
There are three more gleaming objects in this room. One on the right of the
altar, one on the left of the altar and one on the altar itself. The one on
the left is an herbal medicine. The one on the right is the ceremony masters
notes 4 and the one on the altar is the ceremony masters notes 1. On the left
side of the room are two sets of stairs. One going up and one going down. Go
upstairs and pick up the gleaming object. It's the "see" ability for the
camera obscura. It makes the spirits easier to locate. On the small alter is
another gleaming object. It's the butterfly diary 3. There is a lock pad on
the floor. If you go to the small door, Mayu will step on the pad. Go into
the hidden passage to get the butterfly diary 2. Move forward a bit and a
spirit appears. Snap a picture of "speaking man". He says that he will "hold
onto the key so that escape is impossible". Then you hear something fall
behind the lattice. Hmm. Nothing you can do right now so leave this passage
and return to your sister. Return to the Family Altar Room and take the
stairs down.
Below Kurosawa-Connecting Corridor
Follow the stairs to the bottom. Before going through the wooden doors, go
the to the end of this passage and pick up the gleaming object. It's sacred
water. Go through the door. There's only one way to go. Go up the stairs.
You are outside. Run to either side of this and step on the floor plate.
Mayu will do the same and the doors in front of the plates will unlock.
(scene)
Lattice Room
I think Mayu is starting to lose her marbles. As soon as she's done babbling
about the promise, you'll automatically go through the doors and the "waiting
priest" will appear, also babbling about the sacrifice. Snap his picture. Now
Mayu starts saying she's sorry. Maybe we could hook her and the priest up
since neither of them know how to shut up. Heh. Anyway, after you get his
picture pick up the gleaming object. It's the shadow key. One down, one to
go. Do not exit through the doors you came in. You will not be able to get
back in if you do. There is a save lantern here. Go through the double doors.
Rope Temple
You are now in the rope temple. This is where the rope rituals were
performed. Pick up the "ceremony masters notes 5" off of the altar. Check the
door on the other side of this room to find that you need a butterfly design
key. Exit this room the way you came in. Go way back to the First Floor
Family Altar Room. Exit through the double doors. Return to the storage room.
(It's the room that the crimson ball fell to)
Once in the storage room, head up the stairs. You will be in the partition
screen room. Go into the room at the end.
Masters Room
Move forward and pick up the "crimson wing tome", the "taboo tome", the "twin
tome", the "ritual tome" and the "disaster tome". Examine the circular shelf
again to see a Buddha statue holding a key. This is a puzzle. You have to
arrange the books in a certain order to get the key.
SOLUTION
The order is;
crimson-
taboo-
twin-
disaster-
ritual-
You will get the key of light. Pick up the gleaming object in this room. It's
the "masters notes 2". Return to the cell where you saw the caged man?
That's where we're going. If you don't remember how to get there, here's how.
Go to the 1st floor storage room. Take the Southern door into the hallway.
Take the door at the end of the cloth hallway into the warehouse. (I was
attacked by a man in the dark here.) In the warehouse, take the southern door
to get to the cell.
Cell
One there, use both keys to unlock the cell. Once inside, pick up the hidden
type 90film near the Buddha statues. On the other side of the cell a spirit
appears. It's the "ritual observer". Snap his picture. Examine the bookshelf
to find "folklorists note 9", "folklorists note 10",the hammer key, and the
Osaka house map. Try to exit.
(scene)
Chapter 5-The Sacrifice
*Sigh* Mayu's gone and got herself into trouble again. Might as well take a
picture of "confined Mayu" while she's in there. You get points for it.
After you do that, exit the room and go to the underground cellar. Remember
the stairs at the end of this room? That's where you're heading. But wait.
Woman in the box is going to attack you. Get ready for her.
BATTLE-WOMAN IN BOX
She really freaked me out this time. She's no harder than she was before but
the fear factor is much greater. (Ringu anyone?) When you're done smacking
her around, pick up the gleaming object near the well that she came out of.
It's a spirit orb. Save your game and head up the stairs and out the door.
Kurosawa-Grounds
Hooray! The flashlight came on!
Head south. You can save your game near whisper bridge if you wish. Cross the
bridge and exit through the wooden double doors.
Kiryu-Tachibana
Head up the stone stairs. As you walk under the wooden bridge, a spirit
appears. Snap a picture of "corridor woman". Keep moving forward toward the
Osaka house. As you round the corner, another spirit surrounded by crimson
butterflies appears. Snap a picture of "lured woman". Head to the Storehouse.
If you don't know where it is, look on the map for the red save lantern
(crimson butterfly) that is on the right of the map.
All Gods Village-Storehouse
As you near the Storehouse another spirit appears. Snap a picture
of "storehouse bound". As you get closer, a spirit appears at the storehouse
entrance. Snap a picture of "weeping woman". When you get close to her, she
disapears. She leaves a gleaming object. It's the butterfly diary4 and some
flourite for your radio. Save your game. Enter the small door next to the
storehouse.
Storehouse-back
The trapped boy Itsuki wants to speak to you.
(scene)
Did you get all that? It's okay if you didn't, that's what I'm here for. Time
to go back to the Osaka house.
Osaka House
Welcome home! You should know this place pretty well. If you want to save, go
to the Kimono room. If not, let's head to the big tatami room.
Big Tatami Room
As soon as you get into the room aim your camera to the right and over the
net. A spirit is there. Snap a picture of " frozen woman". When you search
this room a spirit attacks.
BATTLE-THE WANDERER
It's really easy. After the fight, try to exit this room. Another spirit
will appear. It's "staring woman". Snap her picture and leave this room.
Head to the back room.
Back Room
As soon as you enter, aim toward the deck and snap a picture of "woman on
deck". After that, pick up the gleaming object. It's the "alarm" function for
your camera. Nothing else in here so leave. Head to the family altar room.
Family Altar Room
When you enter this room, go left into the adjoining room and pick up the
gleaming object in front of the hole in the wall. Bling Bling. It's the type
zero film. Do Not Use It Yet! You are going to need to save this for later.
Trust me. Anyways, go back toward the entrance and go to where you found the
camera obscura. Examine the wall to find the pinwheel puzzle that Itsuki
spoke of.
Pinwheel Puzzle
The puzzle is represented by this chart;
*(1) (2) *
(5) *
*(3) (4) *
The pinwheel in the center (5)cannot be moved. This puzzle is pretty easy
once you get the hang of it. You have to make all of the outer pinwheels
colors match the middle one. (green touching green, purple touching purple
and so on.) It's hard to explain but easy to solve. Here's the solution;
Move the 1st pinwheel
Move the 3rd pinwheel
Move the 2nd pinwheel
Move the 2nd pinwheel
Puzzle Solved!
You've unlocked a hidden door. You can't see it but its the wall to the right
of the puzzle. Just push x while your touching the wall and the panel slides
open. Enter and go down the stairs.
Below Osaka- A Passageway
As soon as you get into the room a spirit appears. Snap a picture of
the "mourner below". Check the table for some prehnite for your radio. Check
another table nearby for a gleaming object. It's a stone mirror. The boxes
near that contain some type 14 film. Check the area with the pots and boxes
for a "film reel 7". Check the chest.
(scene)
BATTLE-MOURNER
Oh crap. This is the mourner and he's not looking cute. Mourners are blind
but they aren't stupid by any means. If you run, they will hear you and start
chasing you and slashing at you. Stay as far away from him as possible. If
you get to close to him he swings at you several times. (3-4)His attacks are
deadly so use type 14 film and keep backing away. You can kill him with type
7 but it takes a really long time and it's slow loading so he can attack you
before you can attack him. I suggest type 14. After you defeat him, pick up
the gleaming object. It's the rusty key. Examine the boulders near the key.
It appears that this passage leads somewhere else. You can't get there from
here, though.
Head back to the Family Altar Room and exit into the hallway. When you do, a
spirit attacks. It's the wanderer.
BATTLE-WANDERER
She's hard to fight in this small space. She disappears into the walls and
lunges out to attack you. Defeat her and head upstairs to the servants room.
Servants Room
As soon as you enter this room a spirit appears in the rafters above you.
Snap a picture of "peeking kid". In the next room is a gleaming object. It's
a spirit orb. On the table is some sort of scroll but you can't read it or
take it. Nothing else to be found here. Save in the kimono room if you wish.
Exit the house.
As you run past the Osaka house, look to the right. You have only a moment
to snap a picture of "crying girl". If you miss her, try again. It's worth a
lot of points. Keep going until you get to Kurosawa. (I was attacked by two
villagers spirits on whisper bridge. You may not be, but be prepared.)
Kurosawa
You cannot enter the house through the double doors. It's being held shut by
a powerful force. Instead, go into the small door to the right that was
previously locked. When you get inside and go downstairs into the underground
cellar, you will be attacked by two mourners!
BATTLE-MOURNER X'S 2
They are extremely dangerous foes, especially in numbers. Try to stay away
from them and get in as many double shots as possible. DO NOT RUN! (THIS IS A
EXTREMELY DIFFICULT BATTLE IN FATAL MODE)
After you defeat them you can save your game. Head out the door and into the
hallway. Follow it all the way to the end. You'll end up at the cell where
your sister is being held. Use the rusty key and enter the cell.
Cell
Guess who's missing again?
You will immediately see a gleaming object on the table. It's "Mayu's Note"
and a photo "the white haired boy". It's Itsuki.
(scene)
Things are starting to make sense now, no?
Now that the scenes over, you're Mayu again. It's the same as before. Just
follow the crimson butterflies.
Now that you are Mio again you should know what to do. That's right, follow
where your sister went. Exit the cell and head back to the underground
cellar. No spirits this time. Save your game. Exit this house. Go across
whisper bridge. As you reach the end of the bridge a spirit attacks you. It's
that bitch, the sunken woman.
BATTLE-SUNKEN WOMAN
Fight her the same way you did before. If you're low on type 14 film, use
type 7. Trust me, your gonna need all the good film you can get. (you can
flee this battle but I would suggest fighting her so that you can get the
points for camera upgrades) After the battle, enter All God's Village.
All Gods Village-Kiryu-Tachibana
You need to go to the Kiryu house. It's the house with the film projector
where you first fought "broken neck woman". It's right up the stairs from
where you are. Head up the stone steps to Kiryu house.
(scene)
As soon as the scene ends, get into camera mode and aim up to the bridge.
Snap a picture of corridor woman. It's worth a lot of points so do your best.
Oh great, speak of the devil. Looks like broken neck woman is after your
sister. Head the rest of the way up and enter the Kiryu house.
Kiryu House
Go to the first room on your left. It's the projector room. You can watch the
film that you found in here. Exit the room.
Go up the stairs.
2nd Floor-Kiryu house
When you reach the top of the stairs, go through the door on your left that
leads to the wooden bridge. Cross it and attempt to open the door on the
other side. When you do, you will be attacked by a spirit.
BATTLE-BROKEN NECK WOMAN
It's that bitch "broken neck woman". It's not that she's hard, it's just
that you have a very small space to move around. Use type 14 if you have it
and defeat her.
Enter the Kiryu house again. You will be back in the sliding screen room.
Sliding Screen Room
Walk toward the room with the bookshelf. A spirit will appear and you'll
have to snap his picture through the tattered screen. It's "man in study". Go
to the bookshelf now. Pick up the gleaming object. It's the folklorists note
5 and lazulite for your radio. Go downstairs and exit this house.
Head to the StoreHouse.
StoreHouse
Save your game and enter the small door. Talk to Itsuki. Exit the small door.
Go to the right of the StoreHouse to find a well. Examine it to find the
village report 2. As you walk away from the well a spirit appears. Snap a
picture of the "well checker".
Look at your map. Look for the save lantern near the Kiryu house. See the red
mark with the black x? Head there now. As you reach the house a spirit
appears. Snap a picture of "entering man". Examine the door to see that it's
locked. Take a picture of the door. You will get an image of the well. Go
there now.
Take a picture of the well. You will get an image of a womans face over the
well. Go back to Kiryu house where you took a picture of the door.
Kiryu House
SAVE YOUR GAME BEFORE YOU ENTER THIS HOUSE!
Enter.
Chapter 6-The Remaining
Walk forward and a spirit appears. Snap a picture of " dazed doll".
Check around this area. I didn't find anything. Go to the room on the right.
Hanging Doll Room
This room is so freakin' creepy. As you walk foward you will see the spirits
of twin girls. They chant "why do you kill?" Get used to it. It's really
scary stuff. Snap their pictures. Two hanged women also appear. They
disappear along with the twins.
Pick up the gleaming object. It's herbal medicine. Check the drawer for some
type 14 film.
Exit the hanging doll room.
1F Tatami Room-Hallway
As soon as you get through the door the twins spirits appear again. Take a
picture of "vanishing twins".
The door on your left is locked. From the sound of things, I didn't really
want to go there anyway.
Ignore the door next to this for now.
Go to the open rooms on your right. These rooms are the regular tatami rooms.
Regular Tatami Rooms
At the back of the adjoining room you will find some type 61 film near the
window. Back in the hallway, pass the next door on your left for now. Go to
the open room straight ahead. It's called the Deluxe Tatami Room.
Deluxe Tatami Room
Look for the gleaming object. It's herbal medicine. Head to the 2nd door on
the left.
1st Floor Staircase-Hallway
Save your game. The door near the save is locked. Head upstairs.
2nd Floor Staircase-Hallway
Move forward. At the intersection, turn right and aim your camera at the
rubble. Take a picture of "pinned down". Continue on and up the steps. Go to
the room on your left.
Raised Tatami Room
Walk to the back of the room and search the corner for a spirit orb. Take a
picture of the draped doll to get a picture of "shivering woman". There is a
sacred water hidden in the dresser by the exit of this room. Go back to the
hallway and enter the wooden door.
2nd Floor Stairway Room
Head down the hallway. As you pass the bars of the window a spirit appears.
Snap a picture of "corner woman".
That door is locked so head to the left and save your game before exploring
the rest of this area.
At the opposite end of the hallway is a small room with a box. It's stuck and
you can't open it. It looks like a body could fit in it, doesn't it? Note
this location.
On the other side of the passage is a door that you can unlock. It leads to
the sliding screen room. Go back to the red save lamp and head down the
stairs.
(scene)
BATTLE-FALLEN WOMAN
Umm...I wasn't expecting that. This is "fallen woman" and fallen is an
understatement. She is, quite frankly, one scary bitch. The creep out factor
in this battle is very high. She falls, she looks as if every bone in her
body is broken. She wiggles around and moans and giggles. She wiggles toward
you and if you let her get too close, she grabs you and takes 1/4 to 1/2 of
your health from you. She disappears and does it all over again. As soon as
she disappears, move around or she will fall right on top of you! As soon as
she lands, shoot her while backing up. Don't let her get too close to you.
This shouldn’t be too hard. After you defeat her, pick up the two gleaming
objects. They are film reel 3 and spodumene for your radio. If you listen to
the spodumene you will hear why "fallen woman" jumped. Exit this room.
Go back to the Twins Room
Quickly snap a photo of the spirit. Picking up the gleaming object. It's the
violet diary 2 and the blue crystal for your radio. Check the dresser for
some type 90 film. Another dresser holds an herbal medicine.
We did a lot of back and forth, didn't we? But this way, you get more photos
and items before this upcoming battle. I would highly suggest that you go
back to save your game before exiting the North west door in this room.
Hallway Of Contrasts
Before you do anything, make sure you have FULL HEALTH . Prepare for a
battle.
Walk forward.
(scene)
BATTLE-TWINS
Now you will know why I said to get used to hearing "why do you kill?"
These scary looking twins are tough. One of them cannot be harmed. She is an
illusion. At first glance, you can't tell them apart. Run up and down the
hall and wait for the twins to lunge at you. Turn to snap a pic. If the
cameras capture circle doesn’t react, don’t waste your film, it's the
illusion. The fake one also is more transparent than the other twin. I used
type 7 film at first by mistake. (thought I had loaded type 14) After a while
I loaded 14 and just kept running back and forth, waiting for them to lunge
out at me. When they do that, they slump over for a second before vanishing
again. That is your golden opportunity. You can shoot them while they are
walking towards you, the lunge, slump technique worked best for me in this
battle. You can also use type 61 film if you're low on type 14. Defeat them.
Go to the door at the upper right side. This is the projector room. You can
watch the films if you want to. If not, go to the door next to it.
Doll Room
Scared yet? You should be.
Take a picture of the doll with the missing limbs. You will see an image of
the family altar room. The other doll is next to this one and is identical to
the twins you just fought. Creepy! Take pictures of both dolls and examine
the switches in between them. It's a puzzle. You have to find the dolls
missing limbs. It's going to be pretty easy now that we've got the battles
out of the way. If you run into the twins again you can fight them or run. I
would suggest saving your film so if you choose to fight them, use type 7. It
will be a long battle but it can be done. Anyways, Pick up the doll makers
note 3. Exit this room.
Go to the opposite end of this hallway and walk on the other side of the
curtain. Pick up the gleaming object. Projector film 4. Quickly aim your
camera and snap a picture of "peeking child".
Go to the room next to this. It has another box in it and this one is stuck
too. Remember the locations of these stuck boxes. They hold the doll parts
you will need in a minute.
Go further down and into the door. Save your game and return to the hallway
of contrast. Go to the projector room.
You can watch the film you just found or skip it and go to the family altar
room. Wondering where that is? It's on the 1st floor hallway. Remember the
first locked door on the left that had all the noise coming from it? Remember
the door next to it that I told you to ignore? That's it. Head there now.
Family Altar Room
Your filament will glow and you will hear talking. Aim your camera at the
hole into the wall on the left side of the room and take a picture of "hidden
man". Pick up the herbal medicine. Exit and enter the room right next to
this room. It's unlocked now.
Sealed room
Pick up the gleaming object.
It's dolomite for your camera and the doll makers notes 4. When you
do "doomed girl" appears behind you saying "kill me". Take her picture. There
is some type 14 film on the shelf. Exit this room. Time to find the doll
parts.
Doll Parts
You're about to see why I had you do all of this stuff in the order that I
did.
After exiting the sealed room, you'll be in the tatami room hallway. I'd
suggest that you go north and around the corner to the red save lantern in
the 1st Floor Staircase Hallway. After you save, go through the other door
here that leads to the 1f hallway of contrasts. As soon as you enter this
door you will notice your filament is blue.
The next door on the left is the storage closet and also your first doll
parts. Open the door but do not enter it, quickly get into camera mode and
snap a picture of Azami Kiryu. When you do, she'll disappear and you'll get
your first doll parts.
Follow this hallway all the way to the end and enter the projector room. Go
to the other door in this room and out. Go to the room across from this room.
It's a storage room where you saw the sealed box. Snap the girl’s picture and
take the parts. One more doll part to get.
Leave the storage room and go up the stairs in this room. Once upstairs,
snap a picture of "free fall" and take the door that leads to the 2nd floor
Stairway room. (you may be attacked by falling woman again and if so, you
cannot flee this battle as she will follow you) Once upstairs, take a left
and then a right into the storage room. You know what to do, snap a picture
of the girl and take the final doll part, and the dollmakers notes 1.
Doll Room
Return to the doll room and examine the doll with the missing parts. You put
the parts on the doll but nothing happens. You're missing something, but
what? You will hear the twins but don't panic. Stay here and make sure you're
ready to battle. When you are, head to the Sealed Room.
Sealed Room
When you enter the sealed room, your filament will glow blue. Photograph the
burned remains in the corner to get an image of the twins facing each other,
the design plans, the doll makers notes 2 and the charred notes. Oh great,
you have to find her eyes.
Get ready to fight.
Now you must go into the hanging doll room, which happens to be one of my
least favorite places in this house. Make sure your health is full and you
have type 61 film in your camera. If you are low on type 61, use type 14.
It's not a bad idea to save your game right now. If you go to the save
nearest you (1 floor staircase hallway) you will see the ghost of the little
girl again (Azami Kiryu). Snap her picture. Save and head to the hanging doll
room.
Hanging Doll Room
BATTLE-DOLLMAKER
When you enter this room you will be attacked by the doll maker. His name is
Yoshitastsu Kiryu and he's pretty tough. I would suggest you try to keep
moving as much as possible. He's got two different attacks. He will try a
basic attack by grabbing you. The other attack he has is much worse. He makes
the dolls in the room attack you and they take a bunch of health. They will
circle around you and if you aren't careful, take a load of your health by
attacking you. If he does this, keep running around until you get a clear
shot of the doll maker. When you shoot him, the dolls fall to the floor.
Also, in camera mode you can see the hanging women that you saw the first
time you were in here. Very creepy.
Try to get in a fatal frame or two if you can. If you're having trouble
getting close to him, put in some type 14 and get him from a distance. Why
type 14? Because you should try to save your good film for the next battle.
The fun never ends, does it?
After you defeat him you will pick up the dolls eyes and the doll makers note
5. Read the doll makers notes to find out key plot points. The doll maker
made the doll as a likeness of his child. No wonder he was so tormented. If
you didn’t listen to the dolomite and the blue crystal, do that now as well.
Pick up the gleaming object on the floor. It's the "switch" power-up for the
camera obscura , the doll makers notes and a spirit orb. Listen to Mayu's
charm again. It's different this time.
After you've done all this, it's time to save your game. DO NOT TRY THIS NEXT
PART WITHOUT SAVING FIRST. When you go to save, the little girl appears to
you again. Take her picture and save your game. Return to the Doll Room via
the Hallway of Contrasts.
The Doll Room
When you enter this room, put the final parts (the eyes, eww) on the doll.
Don't worry, nothing will attack you yet regardless of the noises you hear.
Take a picture of both dolls together. Go to the switch between the two dolls
and you will see that it's a puzzle. The idea is to make the dolls face each
other. You can try to figure it out on your own or I'll just give you the
solution. If you've read the "charred notes" and the "design plans" in your
scraps under the file menu, the solution to this puzzle is in there. Before
you do the puzzle, you should be ready for a fight.

BATTLE-TWINS
As soon as this is done, the twins attack you. Quickly turn around and run
away. This is exactly like the battle before except you are locked in a tiny
room with them. THIS IS A VERY DIFFICULT BATTLE IN NIGHTMARE AND FATAL MODES.
Use the same strategy and you will be just fine. They disappear in the walls
and shelve and you have to rely on your filament light to get their
locations. Try not to stand still for very long. Once you defeat them, pick
up the pale purple crystal.
(scene)
I would HIGHLY suggest that you save your game before going down this
passageway. Do what you want.
Climb down the wooden ladder.
Below Kiryu-A Passageway
If you check the boulders on the right, you'll know where you are. This is
the passage way that you fought the mourner in for the first time and where
you saw the fallen boulders. This is the other side of the passage that you
couldn’t get to then.
Continue down the passage.
(scene)
Holy shit! You've dropped the camera AND the flashlight? *sigh* Don't worry,
we're gonna get through this as quickly as possible.
Chapter 7-Sae
ALERT-YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE CHASED BY SAE, A SPIRIT THAT WILL KILL YOU WITH ONE
TOUCH!
You don't have a lot of time to mess around here. Sae IS chasing you and if
you screw around too long, she WILL get you. She chases you throughout this
entire level and if she touches you one time, you die and it's game over. We
aren't gonna let that happen, though.
First things first. There is a gleaming object in here. It's an herbal
medicine. Also, hidden in this room is a spirit orb.
There is a save lantern in here. Use it. You are in the large store room.
When you exit this room you are going to be in the hallway of contrasts. As
soon as you get into the hallway, RUN LEFT AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN. Sae is
here chasing you again. Also, you have no camera. Just run until you get to
the door that leads to the staircase-hallway.
1st floor Staircase-Hallway
Save your game again. There is a hidden herbal medicine here also. Go
upstairs.
(scene)
Turn around and RUN you will automatically enter the door.
Tachibana,2nd Floor-Row Of Tatami Rooms-E
Notice that it's still in black and white? That's because Sae is near. RUN
to the left and you will see a door on your right. The door in front of you
is locked. Enter the door on the right.
Row Of Tatami Rooms-N
Run to the door right next to you on Mio's left.
(scene)
When will this girl realize that it's NOT MAYU?
CHECK YOUR MAP. RUN TO THE STOREROOM. IT'S THE DOOR TO THE SOUTH. HURRY!
StoreRoom
Hurry and pick up the gleaming object. It's the Paulownia Key. You also
notice a doll. Note this location as you will be heading back here soon.
(scene)
It's okay, she's not right outside the door but as soon as you exit she will
come out of the wall and chase you so NEVER stop running.
Exit quickly and RUN to the Northern room that you passed to get here. If you
look at your map, it's one that you have never entered. HURRY! You will see
Sae and she will get very close. DO NOT LET HER TOUCH YOU!
Get to the door and you will automatically use the key. Enter.
(scene)
UGH!
Look at your map. Locate the Northern door in this room.
You have to exit this closet and examine the cage near this door. Then RUN
to the southern door and RUN back to the storeroom where you found the
Paulownia key and noticed the doll on the shelf! HURRY HURRY HURRY.
StoreRoom
Quickly grab the doll and RUN back to the cage near the northern door. When
you exit the StoreRoom, Sae will once again try to touch you. Dodge her and
Keep Moving!
Row Of Tatami Rooms-W
Run to the cage and examine it.
This is a puzzle. You will be timed. It's exactly the same puzzle as the
large dolls. Make them face each other. If you can't figure it out, here's
the solution.

The door will unlock. As soon as you can control Mio, Turn around and enter
it. Sae is in here now and is begging you to stay and if you mess around,
you'll be doing a whole lot of staying.
Remember this bridge? You fought "the wanderer" here. And guess what? Sae is
gone for now. Pick up the gleaming object. It's a chrysoberyl for your radio.
Time to go back for your camera. Enter the door in front of you.
2nd Floor-Sliding Room
Go down the stairs
Entrance
Go into the projector room.
Projector Room
Go to the other door in here. You'll be right next to the Doll Room and I was
ambushed by the doll maker here, too. You must flee as you have no camera.
Enter the doll room.
Doll Room
Enter the passage again via the ladder.
A Passageway
Hell Yes! Grab that camera and flashlight! Go back toward the boulders near
the ladder that you just climbed down and pick up the dimly glowing crystal
for your radio. It's safe to listen to your radio here. You can power up your
camera as well.
Walk forward up the path. When your filament glows blue, aim toward the rocks
and snap a picture of "crushed men". Climb the ladder.
Large StoreRoom
Save your game now. Exit this room.
Hallway Of Contrasts
As soon as you get here your filament will glow blue. Take a picture of the
door to unlock it. Enter.
Projector Room
If you have any films to watch, do it now. Exit this room.
Entrance
Look under the stairs. You don't have the sense ability yet, but if you're
playing it in hard and DO have it, you can take a picture of "evil arms". Go
upstairs. At the top, search the boxes for some type 14 film.
Sliding Screen Room
Search the desk for the "zero" power-up. Search the bookshelf for the "green
diary 4". Enter the closet for some sacred water. The door at the end of this
hall is locked as well as the downstairs exit door. Go back downstairs and
through the projector room once again and exit into the hallway of contrasts.
Hallway Of Contrasts
Follow the hallway down until you see a closet with tattered brown drapes on
Mio's left. Your blue filament will be on. Go into the closet and photograph
the door to release the seal. Enter.
Twins Room
Pick up the gleaming object from the floor. It's the crimson diary 3. Check
the right corner of the room to photograph "male twin". On the dresser next
to the mummy is another gleaming object. It's a stone mirror. Snap a picture
of "cleanser" near the mummy's chest. Exit.
Search all the rooms on this floor. Your main objective is to find Mayu.
Tatami Room-Hallway
When you get here you will see your blue filament light. Go to the door
straight in front of you and take a picture. It will break the seal. From the
view you have, you can see a gleaming object on the other side of the screen.
Note this area on your map.
Raised Tatami Room
Turn around and go into this room and pick it up. It's an herbal medicine.
There's the green diary 3 on the table. Head to the regular tatami rooms.
Regular Tatami Rooms
Pick up the gleaming object. It's the crimson diary 4. You'll find type 61
film in the drawer.
Room With Tatami
Search behind the curtain for the film reel 5. Exit the other door in this
room.
Entrance
Pick up the herbal medicine from the pots. Examine the door.
(scene)
You are attacked by three villagers. Keep moving around and defeat them. Go
through the other door in this room and look through the boxes to find a
stone mirror. Exit the way you came in. Return to the Tatami Room Hallway and
go through the door that you broke the seal. It's the 1st Floor Clock Hall.
1st Floor Clock Hall
Search under the stairs for a sacred water. Go upstairs.
2nd Floor Stairway Room
When you reach the top of the stairs you will hear a girl say "Itsuki, I'm
sorry...I'm sorry".
We need to search this whole floor. Start with the first room on your right.
Mayu is in here. You need the bell key to free her. Snap a picture of "crying
Mayu". As soon as you examine the door a spirit appears. Snap a picture
of "crimson kimono". That was the spirit of Chitose and she has the bell
key. After she runs off, go in the direction that she went. This connects
you with the 2nd floor hallway. Skip this area for now.
Turn around and go back to the room that Mayu is in.
Go back into the hallway and make a right as soon as you can. Unlock this
door that connects to the sliding screen room. Turn around and continue on in
the hallway to the end.
StoreRoom
Open the door and go inside. Examine the chest. You hear "help me, help" and
if you go into camera mode, you see writing all over the walls. Take a
picture of it. Exit. Return to the door that Mayu is in. Now, here's the
deal. We've gotten all the items here. Your objective is to find the bell
key, right? Only one problem.....
Remember "crimson kimono"? Her name is Chitose Tachibana and she's got the
key and guess what else? You have to locate and fight her 5 times to get it!
It's okay because I'm going to tell you where to find her and how to beat
her. Chitose Tachibana was the little sister if Itsuki and Mutsuki, the twin
boys. She had a huge hatred for the twin girls, Yae and Sae because when
Itsuki helped them escape the village they locked Itsuki away where he
eventually killed himself. She would hide in the closet when outsiders would
come to the village and when The Repentance came, she hid in a closet and
watched the entire massacre from there. She died in the same closet. This, my
friends is why you will find her in closets and small places around the house.
First things first. Make sure you have full health, upgrade if you can and
now look on your map and find a save. Don't worry, she isn't located near
either one of them. I took the clock hall and followed that path to a save.
(below is a list of items that I found when I was looking for Chitose it's a
good idea to get them before you fight her for the last time.)
Tatami Room N
Pick up the green diary 1 and 2.
Tatami Room S
Pick up the spirit orb in the closet.
Tatami Room W
Pick up the type zero film from the dresser.
Tatami Room E
Pick up the type zero film from the table.

Tatami Room Hallway
Take a picture of "fleeing girl".
Twins Room
Stone Mirror and spirit orb (you may also get an event where a crimson ball
rolls at your feet.)
Here we go. Lets track the kid down, now.
This kid likes small, dark places. All of her locations are in closets and
crawlspaces/cubbys throughout the house.
If you don't visit them in this order she will not be there. I went to all
of the Tatami Rooms and got the items before I fought her. Anyways, heres her
locations.
1. When you took her picture, she ran to the 2nd floor hallway. Follow the
way she went. Go to Tatami Room W. She's in the closet.
2. Tatami Room-E in the closet.
3. Raised Tatami Room-in the crawl space underneath it. (scene) crimson diary

4.1st Floor Entrance (next to Room with tatami) on the far north side of room
in a sliding cubby in the lower part of the wall. It's
hidden so just tap x.
5. Deluxe Tatami Room-In closet (drops the bell key and a crystal)
In Fatal or Nightmare Mode the order is;
1. Raised Tatami Room
2. Entrance
3. Deluxe Tatami Room
You only have to fight her three times in fatal or nightmare.
BATTLE-CHITOSE TACHIBANA
Chitose is a child which means a couple things. She's not really that
dangerous but most importantly it means she's very quick. She will cry and
the screen will turn completely black. She throws somewhat of a tantrum and
sits on the floor. She rushes at you and tries to attack. That's basically
it. She's the spirit of a scared child so no need to really worry. The only
troublesome thing is when she cries and the screen turns black, just keep
running around until the screen is normal. Watch your filament light while
it's dark as this will save you from being attacked. If it's red, try to
maneuver away from her. If not, she will get you when it's dark. The only
time she got me is when I was completely still.
The last time you fight her she becomes fierce. She will run directly at you,
grab you and scream "You're NOT my brother!" She will take quite a lot of hp
while doing this. Dodge her. After she tries to do this and fails she will
sit on the floor and cry. Shoot her. If you hesitate, she will make you blind
again.
When you defeat her, you get the bell key and a red speckled crystal. Return
to Mayu.
When you go to get Mayu she is gone! Are you really all that surprised? Go
into the room and pick up the green diary 5, the bound diary 1, the Tachibana
crest and flourite for your radio.
(scene)
Whew! Anyone else here having trust issues with Mayu?
That was one tedious chapter. Time to start another.
Chapter 8-Half Moon
Save your game!
(By now you should be running low on type 14 and 61. It happens to the best
of us. You have to use type 7 if you are. You are going to get more film
soon. You will also be randomly ambushed by weak enemies here in the town. It
takes forever with type 7 so just get in a bunch of fatals. You need the
points anyways for your upgrades so don't run from battles.)
Check your map. Your objective is to go to the old tree. On your map it will
be a red dot. If for some reason you don't know where it is, it's over the
small wooden bridge next to the Kiryu house, past the steps to the Kureha
shrine. Head there now.
The Old Tree
Get into camera mode and snap a picture of the tree. You will get an image of
an altar. Go to the Kureha Shrine.
Kureha Shrine
As soon as you reach the top of the long stairs a spirit will appear. Take a
picture of "man at shrine".
Before you enter the shrine, prepare for a battle.
Enter.
Move forward. Don't take a picture of the altar yet. First, go to the right
and pick up the gleaming object. It's the folklorists note 7. Take a picture
of the shrine. Get an image of twins going under a fence. Exit the shrine.
Follow the stairs down to the bottom. That annoying priest appears talking
about accepting your destiny again. Let's make him accept his.
BATTLE-VIELED PRIEST
This fight is easier because you're outside. Kick his butt and return to the
old tree.
The Old Tree
(scene)
Mayu's being a drama queen. Take a picture of "fallen mayu".
Yay, another pinwheel puzzle! Examine it to get the octagon key. You will
need to find all the family crests to complete this puzzle. You already have
one.
Take a photo of the pinwheel puzzle to get an image of......the other
pinwheel puzzle?...
Anyway, a seal appears around Mayu. She starts mumbling. She tells you the
locations of the crests that you will have to find. Pay attention to what she
says. If you miss it, you can go up to her and tap x and she will repeat
herself. You already have the Tachibana family crest.
Take Mayu's picture to see a picture of a woman crying in front of the
StoreHouse. Search this room for the folklorists note 12. There isn't
anything left to do here for now. Head to the StoreHouse.
Save your game at the red lantern. You might be attacked by a couple of
villagers. A spirit will appear near the Osaka house. Snap a picture
of "storehouse bound". Follow her to the StoreHouse. Right before you reach
it another spirit appears, well, at least part of one. (It's just walking
legs!)Snap a picture of "Roaming Doll". Enter the StoreHouse.
StoreHouse
(scene)
As soon as the scene ends, snap a picture of "imprisoned boy". Look on Mio's
left to find some type zero film. Enter the cell. Pick up the bound diary 3,
4 and 5 and the crystal ore for your radio. Take a picture of the seal to get
the "all gods village map". Nothing else here. The stairs are blocked so
leave and head to the Osaka House.
Osaka House
Go to the kimono room. Pick up the type 14 film from the floor. Save your
game. Check the kimono box.
BATTLE-WOMAN IN BOX
Yup, you guessed it. That disgusting bitch is back. She's no different than
any other time you've fought her except for when her health bar gets down to
half she will run at you every chance she gets. Kill her and pick up the
Osaka Crest that she drops.
Now you should save your game again. You aren't going to battle anything just
yet. You are about to encounter several spirits.
They are children and these photos are
a: really hard to get
and
b: worth a whole bunch of points.
Exit the Kimono room into the sunken fireplace room.
As soon as you walk forward a bit THREE spirits will appear. One toward the
stairs and the other two towards the backroom. Take their picture to
get "running child". If anyone knows how to get them all, please let me know.
If you aren't interested in finding items or getting hidden ghosts, it's okay
to leave. I would HIGHLY suggest that you do, though.
Big Tatami Room
pick up the herbal medicine.
Back Room
Take a picture of "hiding child". Go to where she was hiding. Pick up the
Argonite for your radio.
Deluxe Tatami Room
Take a picture of "hiding child". Go to the back of this room. The closet is
open and there are some stairs. You will be in "a passageway". There is a
stone mirror there.
BATTLE-WANDERER
When you return upstairs you will be attacked by "wanderer". Kill her.
2nd Floor-Guest Room
Take a picture of "hiding child". Afterwards walk toward where the spirit
was and take a picture of "girl in hiding". Pick up the garnet there and the
sacred water near the entrance. Go to the sunken fireplace room.
Sunken Fireplace Room
BATTLE-THREE CHILDREN
Okay, you're going to be attacked by the three children now. They are hard
because they are fast. They play "hide and seek" with you. They make the
whole screen wave and blurry, the room swimming as if you were really dizzy .
They all attack you at once from different directions. My advice to you is to
take them out one by one. You will have trouble getting any double shots
here. Fatal frames are rare as well. Keep moving and watch your filament
light. If one of them sits on the floor as if they are counting to ten, get
close and shoot before the others ambush you. If you aren't quick, they will
jump on you from behind. When you defeat them all, pick up the camera
equipment. It's the "save" functions which raises the amount of spirit power
gained.
OPTIONAL BATTLE-MAN ON DECK
If you try to save your game afterwards you will be attacked by "man on
deck". Fight him if you want or just leave here and save near the storehouse
or Kiryu house if you want to. Afterwards, head to the Kiryu house.
Kiryu house
Return to the 2nd floor sliding room. At the top of the stairs your filament
light will be blue. There is the spirit of Azami in the hallway. Snap her
picture to see an image of a girl in a kimono. You will be fighting a battle
very soon so be ready. Go to the sliding screens and pick up the type 14
film. Look on your map and locate the upper west wall. Behind the hanging
kimono is a hidden room. Enter it and pick up the Kiryu crest from in front
of the doll.
(scene)
BATTLE-TWINS
I hate dolls! Get out of the closet ASAP and go into the larger room to
fight. This one is the same as before. It's the twins so do what you did
before and you'll be fine. You can actually flee this battle if you want to.
Look on your map and locate the cemetery. That's your next destination but
first stop at the family altar room and take a picture of "photo woman". Go
to the sealed room to capture a photo of "yoshitatsu Kiryu". You can search
the rest of the house for items and hidden ghosts. Below is a list of them.
If you want to skip this part feel free.
StoreRoom with window
Take a picture of "scaredy ghost".
2nd Floor Sliding Screen Room
Take a picture of "lost ghost".
Misono Hill
Type 14 film
All God's Cemetery
Pick up the herbal medicine on your left just as you cross the bridge. See
that your filament is blue. Follow your filament light to the spirit, pick up
the glowing blue crystal next to the gravestone and a spirit orb next to a
different headstone. Follow your filament light to a small shrine surrounded
by a seal. Take a photo of it to get an image of Tsuchihara's gravestone.
Examine the shrine again to see that it's stuck. At Tsuchihara's headstone, a
spirit appears. Snap a picture of "grave girl".
BATTLE-BROKEN NECK WOMAN
Turn around and take a picture of the headstone to get an image of the
broken neck woman next to a headstone. She attacks you. In nightmare and
fatal mode, she kills you with one touch regardless of a stone mirror! You
have to fight her in this tiny area. Use Blast to push her back. Defeat her
and the shrine door will open.
Go to the shrine and take the Tsuchihara Crest. You now have all the crests
you need for the pinwheel puzzle. No need to run all the way back and around.
Just go to the back of the cemetery to find the Old Tree. You can enter it
here.
The Old Tree
Check Mayu.
(scene)
You now have to do the puzzle. It's done exactly the same way as the one you
did before. The solution to this puzzle is.

The Final Chapter-Crimson Butterfly
Your objective is to escape with Mayu. Head to Kureha Shrine. When you get to
the bottom of the shrine steps you will be ambushed.
(scene)
BATTLE-VILLAGERS X'S 3
Now you are being attacked by three villagers. Waste them and then SAVE YOUR
GAME! There is a save right as you enter the village.
When you run down the steps to save your game you will be Mayu.
Follow the butterflies and then you're Mio again. Save. Now Go back to the
shrine and go inside. You will be asked if you want to leave Mayu. I sure in
the hell said yes. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO SEE TWO ENDINGS. Just make sure
you've saved your game and choose yes so that you can see both endings.
If you decide to leave without Mayu, You will get a scene and then the game
ends.
If you decide to stay and find her, here's how.
You can get some ghosts before you end the game if you want to.
Cemetery
Go to the cemetery again. In the south-west corner of the cemetery is a
spirit. Take a picture of "freelancer ghost".
Misono Hill
Head back to Misono hill. Go to the Entrance. (the place you entered this
village) Take a picture of "Yae Kurosawa".
StoreHouse
Go to the StoreHouse where the caged boy (Itsuki)was. Go to the top of the
stairs that are blocked. Take a picture of "trapped girl".
Now it's time to get Mayu.
Remember where she was when you last had control of her? Let's go to Whisper
Bridge. On the way there, when you're going down the stone steps to the
bridge and walking underneath the wooden bridge, your filament will be blue.
Stop, aim up at the bridge and take a picture of "jumping woman".
Whisper Bridge
(scene)
BATTLE-VILLAGERS X'S 2
You are attacked by TWO villagers. You may not see the second one right away
so as soon as you get control of Mio, run to the middle of the bridge, turn
around and fight them. They're easy. If you want, you can also flee this
battle. Now cross the bridge and pick up the gleaming object. It's the
butterfly diary 5. Enter the door.
Kurosawa, 1st Floor-Grounds
There is an herbal medicine to the left of the mansion entrance. Pick it up
and enter the mansion via the double doors. You can also save here if you
want to.
Kurosawa Mansion-Entrance
There is a sacred water on the right side of the room.
You have a choice here as to what direction you want to go. You can either
get a few more items, hidden ghosts and fight a few more enemies OR you can
just go directly to the Family Altar Room.
Go to the Storage room and pick up the type 14 film.
Head to the warehouse. Go to the cell and snap a picture of the "prisoner".
Pick up the folklorists note 11 and the lazulite.
Head to the Great Hall
Fight the four ghost and take a picture of "the repentance". Check the
storage closet for a spirit orb.
2nd floor-masters room
Pick up the chrysocolla off of the floor.
Doll Room
Snap a picture of "Sae Kurosawa" and "doll stand shadow".
Family Altar Room
As soon as you open the door you'll be Mayu. Walk toward the priest and go
upstairs. Follow the butterflies and step on the floor plate. You become Mio
again. Pick up the butterfly diary 6. Go downstairs on any side and go
through the door.
Connecting Corridor
Follow the crimson butterflies. A spirit will appear. Take a picture
of "white kimono". Continue to the end of the path.
(scene)
BATTLE-CEREMONY MASTER
Pick up the type 61 film. SAVE YOUR GAME! You are about to fight the ceremony
master. I killed him with type 14 film. If you're playing the game in hard or
nightmare, it's much harder as he can kill you with one touch.
He sends two priests to attack you, he throws some kind of ice balls at you
and he charges at you. Kill the priests as soon as you can and try to move
around a lot. Once you've killed the priests, he cannot send them after you
again so make this your primary focus. He will walk toward you and you will
have one chance to fatal frame him. Try to get in some 2-3 fatal combos. Take
your time with this battle and make sure he doesn't harm you much. When you
kill him he drops the master's key and a chrysocolla for your radio. If you
are playing the game in hard or nightmare, go to the altar in the middle and
aim up to get a hidden ghost. It's Seijiro Makabe.
Save your game. This will be the last place that you can save. Then go into
the north door.
A passageway
Follow the path. Make sure you are walking as you are about to encounter A
LOT of mourners. Pick up the flourite for your radio. You should take your
time going through here. Don't run or the mourners will run/slash. I killed
them one at a time and ran back and saved after each kill. You can even wait
until they appear and run back through the door to flee the battle. It's time
consuming but if you're low on healing items or film, do it. Starting out
from where you picked up the flourite, move forward a bit and your filament
will turn red. It's two mourners. Fight them. Try to get as far away from
them when you hit them with a zero/fatal shot. Their counter attacks will
seriously damage/kill you in this tiny space. You will have to fight several
of these and they will easily deplete all of your supplies. After you kill
the first two, WALK further down the passage. Another mourner appears. You
have a longer area to back up in. Kill it. On the right in an alcove is a
gleaming object. It's a stone mirror. Moving further, you'll get a change of
view. If you inspect this area, you'll see three skeletons. You're filament
will be blue. Snap a picture of "failed Kusabi". Moving on, you'll come to an
area with several boulders. Search the right side for some hidden type 90
film. Go forward and down the stairs. A spirit will appear. Snap a picture
of "eternal ritual 1 and 2. Yes, it counts as two spirits.
Before you move forward, Run all the way back and save your game. Then make
sure you have type 90 film. If you're playing the game in hard or nightmare,
make sure you have plenty of film and if you're playing this in fatal mode be
prepared because this will not be your last battle.
Move toward the bottom of the stairs.
You will see twins sitting in the center of the room.
Take their picture to start the final battle. (unless you are in fatal mode)
(scene)
BATTLE-KUSABI
WARNING! HE WILL KILL YOU WITH ONE TOUCH!
You are fighting the Kusabi. Yes, the one touch wonder himself. He will end
the game with one touch, even if you have a stone mirror.
Here's an easy way to defeat him. First off, if you run around he will
eventually heal himself so go to the center of the room where you took the
picture of the twins and stay there. Get as close to the center of the room
as you can. Get into camera mode. When he gets close, get him. Now, he's
going to vanish but don't run and don't get out of camera mode. Just push in
the right thumbstick that you use to control Mio. It will spin you around. Do
that until you get him in your capture circle. Do it quickly. If you don't he
will heal himself. Keep doing this instead of running. He will not heal
himself if you stay still. The most he'll do is throw the skull things at
you. Defeat him.
Continue down the stairs until you see a gleaming object. It's the "final
letter".
(scene)
Hellish Abyss
As soon as the scene ends, snap a picture of "hellish abyss Mayu". If you are
playing this in hard or nightmare, it will not be an option.
(scene)
Yay, you've beaten the game...Unless you're playing it fatal mode and
then.....
SPOILERS
Chapter Zero-Hellish Abyss
You really didn't think the Kusabi was the final boss, did you? That just
doesn't make sense.
(scene)
Quickly get into camera mode and aim at Mayu. Slowly move towards her and
when she runs toward you , you're capture circle will react. When you get a
chance to get in a fatal, blast her. If you miss....game over. She's become a
one-touch wonder. If you fail you have to fight the kusabi again as well. It
sucks but you can do this.
After you shoot Mayu, Sae will attack. Now at first she's going to be
surrounded by blood, laughing and talking a bunch of smack.
She is invincible as long as she's surrounded by the blood. She will run
toward you. Run from her. She will attempt this attack two or three times.
Avoid her. If she does get you, she will not kill you with one touch. She
will, however, heavily damage you. Make sure, no matter how many herbs/sacred
waters you have to use, that your life bar is all the way full.
She will keep attempting this attack unless you let her get really close, run
and let her fail the attack. If you run she will teleport in front of you.
When she's done she will teleport and re-appear, this time with no red
smoke. This is the golden opportunity. Shoot her. You can easily get in a
fatal on her and some combos if you're patient. Repeat. There is an
opportunity here to get a final hidden ghost. You must only do this when
she's immobile, laughing. When she's laughing run to the other side of the
abyss and aim down into it. Snap a picture of " swallowed by dark"
When you think you've defeated her, you'll see that she's still
standing near the hellish abyss. Shoot her one last time.
(scene)
Congratulations! You really have beaten the game this time!
ENJOY!!
When you end the game for the first time, you will see why the Xbox version
is better. (If you haven't already) If you've beaten it in normal, you'll
unlock hard and nightmare modes. You will also unlock a ton of bonus
features. Using spirit points you can purchase costumes, accessories, the
ending movie, camera functions and most importantly.....YOU WILL GET A SHOP
WHERE YOU CAN PURCHASE FILM, SACRED WATERS AND SPIRIT ORBS. AWESOME. When
you've beaten it in nightmare mode you will unlock fatal mode. This is a very
trying mode. It's really freakin' hard and frustrating. Good Luck with it!
And if you've beaten fatal mode, here's a big pat on the back.
